The next day I struggle to get up. I am a bit sad I won’t be seeing Aspen for awhile. I force myself out of bed and get ready for the day. I curl my hair and put it half of it up in a pony tail, leaving the rest down to cascade down my back. I put on some jean shorts, pink plaid shirt and ankle boots.

“Maliyah! We’re gonna be late,” yells Oliver from the living room.

“I’m coming!”

I emerge from my room and head for the front door. Olivia is the first out the door but she stops in her tracks. She bends down to pick something up and is smiling at me with a bouquet of rare blue lilies. Lilies are my favorite flower.
