Chapter 12

I saw how silent everyone in the room got as Marianna and I walked in together. I felt her hand tighten around my arm once she noticed everyones attention was on us. 

"Emmanuel?" I heard my father's voice call out from the group, "Marianna?" were his next words

I saw my father walk over to us with a drink in his hand, ever since my mother passed away he's been drinking every day, I was just silently praying he wouldn't make a scene, "Hello father, sorry I am late." While giving him a hug, I smelled the alcohol roll off of him.

"Marianna, what a lovely surprise, I didn't know my boy was inviting anyone" He exhaled as he gave Marianna a hug and kiss on the cheek, while taking a step back to admire her, "my dear you look as beautiful as ever" 

Marianna's cheek started to turn pink, God I could watch her blush all day " Thank you Mr. Jennings, you are too kind" I heard her angelic voice say
