~Iris POV

My communicator buzzed again.

And again.

And again.

I stared at it, jaw tightening slightly as Duncan’s name flashed across the screen, then disappeared.

No answer.

I exhaled sharply, tossing it onto the bed.

“Pick up…” I muttered under my breath.

Five days

No six now.

And still nothing.

A part of me understood. If he was truly digging into the White Wolf prophecy, into something the elders themselves were unsure about, then it wouldn’t be simple.

But another part of me..

The part tha

~Duncan POVThe air changed before they appeared. Not a sound. Not a movement.Just… a shift. The kind that made your instincts go quiet instead of loud.Even my wolf…which had been pressing hard against my control, ready to tear through stone and ancient pride alike…went still.Watching.Waiting.Something older than instinct had entered the room. The flames dimmed. Then turned. Not blue. Not gold.Black.A slow, unnatural ripple passed through the chamber walls, and from the shadows…They stepped out.Three of them. The witches. No doors opened. No footsteps echoed. They were simply… there. The first was tall, wrapped in layers of dark fabric that moved like smoke. Her eyes were pale, too pale..like they had seen too much and decided not to care anymore. The second looked younger. Almost human. But the way her head t

~Duncan POVWeeks. It had been weeks since I left the estate.Weeks since I last saw Iris standing in the doorway, watching me with that look she tried to hide, calm on the surface, but sharp underneath. Weeks since I heard the twins arguing over something trivial, their voices echoing through halls that suddenly felt too far away. And yet…Standing here now..None of that felt distant. It felt like something I might lose. The Northern Archives were nothing like I expected. No grand entrance. No banners. No guards lined in formation.Just stone.Ancient, cold stone carved into the side of a mountain that seemed older than memory itself. The air here was thinner, sharper. Every breath felt like it carried weight, like the past itself pressed against your lungs. They knew I was coming.Of course they did. They always did.The moment I crossed the threshold, the door

If he was truly digging into the White Wolf prophecy, into something the elders themselves were unsure about, then it wouldn’t be simple. But another part of me..The part that was his wife…Was getting annoyed. And worried.Very worried.A sound came from behind me. I turned. And immediately regretted it.Moans. “Mira… seriously?”She was sprawled comfortably on the couch, completely relaxed, eyes glued to her phone. She didn’t even look up.“Oh, come on,” she said lazily. “I’m bored.”I crossed my arms. “So your solution is… whatever that is?”“It’s called entertainment,” she replied. “You should try it sometime.”I stared at her. Then shook my head, walking over

~Iris POVThe room was quiet.Peaceful, for once.A soft lamp glowed at the corner, casting warm light across Rowan’s bed as he lay beside me, his small head resting lightly against my arm. The chaos from earlier had been cleared, repaired, hidden, but I hadn’t forgotten. Not for a second.I flipped a page in the book, my voice calm and steady as I read.“…and the wolf, though feared by many, chose not to bite, but to guard…”Rowan shifted slightly, his fingers gripping the edge of my sleeve.“Mom?”“Yes, little wolf?” I said softly, glancing down at him.“Do wolves in stories ever… hurt people by mistake?”My chest tightened just a little.“Sometimes,” I answered gently. “But what matters is what they do after. The ones who learn… who choose to protect… they become something better.”“Like me?” he asked quietly.I smiled, brushing his hair back. “Exactly like you.”He relaxed slightly at that.Just a little. And that was enough for me.A soft knock came at the door before it pushed ope

~Author POVThe corridor was quiet.Too quiet. The kind of silence that pressed in on you, made every breath feel louder than it should be.Eliora stood frozen, her fingers still wrapped around her phone.Alice stood in front of her.Waiting.Watching.Smiling.But there was nothing soft about it.“Your phone,” Alice repeated.Eliora forced a small laugh, though it didn’t reach her eyes. “Alice, you’re overreacting. I didn’t do anything.”Alice tilted her head slightly. “Mm.”A step closer.“I don’t like liars,” she added.“I’m not lying,” Eliora said quickly. “I just..”“took a picture?” Alice cut in smoothly.Silence.Eliora’s grip tightened.Alice’s smile widened just a little.“Thought so.”“It’s not a big deal,” Eliora said, her voice firmer now. “I was just…”“Spying?” Alice suggested.“I

~Iris POVI followed Rowan down the corridor, my steps calm, but my mind wasn’t.Something was off.Not just in his words…But in the way he moved.Too quiet.Too careful.Alice walked beside me, unusually silent for once, her sharp eyes locked on her brother.“Rowan,” I said gently, “what did you do?”He didn’t answer immediately.Instead, he stopped in front of his door. His small hand hovered over the handle.“I didn’t mean to,” he whispered. My chest tightened.“I know,” I said softly. “Just show me.”He nodded. Then slowly pushed the door open. The moment it creaked wide.I froze. The room was a mess. No…Not just a mess.Destroyed.Deep claw marks ran across the walls, long and uneven, cutting through wood and stone like something wild had been trapped inside. The furniture was overturned, splintered in places. The curtains hung in torn strips, swaying slightly from the night breeze creeping in through a cracked window.Even the floor…Scratched.Marked.Scarred.Alice inhaled sha

~irisThe dorm room was quiet when I finally stepped in, dragging my bag behind me. I thought Alice would be here. My scarf and coat were still wrapped tight, lingering smells of coffee and the only city clinging to me. I dropped my bag near the bed and collapsed onto the edge, pulling my phone ou
