Present Day

March, 2021.

Ridgeway Valley Pack

"Ms. Silverstone, the car is here."

I looked up to see Poppy, one of the omegas.

"Thank you, Poppy." I said, smiling. She beamed at me, skipping away, her blond hair bouncing behind her. I walked out of the sitting room to the foyer, my footsteps echoing against the oakwood flooring. My duffel bag was on one of the numerous hooks built into the wall of the foyer. I grabbed it, adjusting the strap.

"I hope you are not leaving without saying goodbye."

My head snapped up to Peter, Alpha of the Ridgeway Valley, and my uncle.

"Me?!!! I would never!" I laughed watching him make his way down the stairs to me. Uncle Peter was a tall man with piercing grey eyes, which matched his graying dark hair.

"Be careful, and please stay out of trouble." He advised. I rolled my eyes, smiling at him.

"Have a little faith in me, Uncle Pete; besides, I never get into any trouble." I replied innocently, and he snorted as I slung my duffel bag over my shoulder, making my way out of the house.

"Have fun!!!" He called out. I got into the car to see Liam; his eyes were glued to his phone.

So what excuse did you give Father? He asked through our mind link

I told him I was going on a five-day backpacking trip. I replied as he started the car and drove us off. Liam handed me the passports and IDs, I looked them over.

It was impressive; no one would think I was Adelaide Silverstone; I was just an ordinary Emma Thomas, while Liam was Jarred Hayes. The trip to the airport was a quiet one. I was lost in my thoughts; this was something that had been planned for years. Nine years and finally! I was going to get my revenge.

We got to the airport, Liam found a spot in the parking area, and we got out. He helped me with my duffel. We already had our tickets ready, and we had arrived just in time for the flight.

"Do enjoy your flight," the air hostess purred at Liam as we walked into the plane. He scrunched his nose as if he smelled something putrid. I chuckled as I walked past her to my seat.

"I honestly can't wait to find my mate; at least the attention from the female species will be reduced." He muttered.

"Female wolf species," I corrected. "It doesn't apply to humans."

He let out a curse, grumbling under his breath.

"So how's the mate's finding going?" I asked. He sighed, rubbing his hand over his face.

"I don't even know. At times, I feel like she doesn't want to be found. It's so frustrating." He explained that I could feel him becoming angry. Placing a hand on his fist, I squeezed gently.

"You'll find her... when the time is right." I whispered. He nodded, shooting me an appreciative smile. The announcement for takeoff was made, and soon we were in the air.

Jacob Mont Blanc, here I come.

******

The 26-hour flight had Liam and I feeling very restless. By the time the plane landed at West Yellowstone Airport, all we wanted to do was run around in our natural forms.

Liam slipped on a pair of sunglasses while I unconsciously pushed my glasses up my nose as I went through immigration and customs. I could smell the werewolves all around, and it kept me on edge. This was Jacob's area, and the last thing I wanted was for him to be alerted to my presence.

Fortunately, we passed through all the checks without drawing attention to ourselves. Liam hailed a taxi, and we got in. I had hired a nondescript cabin close to Mont Blanc territory. It was situated in a small human town.

"What brings you two to old West Yellowstone?" The taxi driver asked, I let Liam chat with the taxi driver; it wasn't like he was going to remember anything by the time we left. Even with our disguises, I was not about to risk it. My mind drifted to the days after the Silverstone Massacre.

Those were the hardest, reliving the nightmares every night for months. I had lost everyone I loved in a single night, all because of a bloodthirsty monster. The council didn't bat an eye or summon him to answer for his crimes. Everyone was terrified of Jacob Mont Blanc. The dark and mad Alpha Prime

No one knew why he attacked my pack or why he was encroaching on other territories belonging to fellow Alpha Primes. Some say he was searching for something, but all I knew was that anyone who dared to cross him met their end in.

Most people at this point preferred to submit to him; it was much easier. But I was not just anybody, as far as he was concerned. I was dead, and I was going to use that to my advantage. I would make sure my face was the last he would see as he died. I could still feel the heavy shotgun with uniquely made silver bullets that was in my bag.

Normally silver bullets do not hurt Alpha Primes, but this was specially designed; all I had to do was aim at the back of his head, and the bullet would do enough damage to allow me to rip his head off. Liam calling my name brought me out of my thoughts. I blinked, looking at him.

"We're here." He announced. I nodded, leaning over to pay the taxi driver.

You will forget this ever happened. I whispered into his ear. His eyes glazed over, his mouth flapping open. Liam got our bags out of the trunk, and I exited the car.

We walked down the dirt road to the cabin. I love the fact that it was surrounded by trees, perfectly hidden from sight. The floorboards creaked as we walked up the stairs. The agent had said the key was under the flower pot. I lifted it and grabbed the key, unlocking the door.

"Home, sweet home," Liam murmured, sarcasm coating every word he uttered. The cabin looked like it had not been lived in for years. At least the agent had cleaned the cobwebs and the majority of the dust. I wrinkled my nose when a rat scurried past us.

"At least he stocked the fridge." Liam said this from the kitchen, which was adjacent to the living room. There was a hallway and three doors. Probably leading to two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. We sat in silence. I could feel the tension.

"Do you have it?" Liam asked. I knew he was talking about the pills. It was something the scientists back in Ridgeway Valley had been working on for years. With the mad Alpha Prime wrecking havoc, a pack might never know when they would need it.

The pills had the ability to suppress the supernatural side of wolves and lycans alike, making it easier to blend in with humans. So our speed, our distinct scent, and other abilities we possessed were reduced drastically.

"We pose as stranded human beings; the old woman's cabin is right on the border of his territory." Liam said he was going through the plan once more.

"Isn't it weird that Jacob would let a human live so close to his territory? What if she raises an alarm?" I questioned.

"From all I have gathered, the humans think she's bonkers; I believe the term they used is crazy old bat, and the wolves only do business with her; they sometimes allow her into their area during the market days." I nodded, processing the information and storing it for future use.

"The old woman brews some sort of drink and sells it to them in barrels. We get into the territory. We already have a map of the entire place. All we have to do is study the patrol system at the Mont Blanc Cabin. Once we get the opportunity, we go in and attack him. He might be an Alpha Prime, but he won't stand a chance against the two of us. I'll distract him, and you shoot; we rip the tosser's head off and sneak out before anyone notices anything and be back in Ridgeway Valley in time for afternoon tea." He finished grinning, and I nodded, handing him one of the pills.

"For Silverstone!!!" He cheered while swallowing the pill, chugging down the bottle of water.

"For Silverstone." I whispered, staring at him. Sipping my water, I took a bite of my steak, making a face. Liam was talented in many things, but when it came to seasoning, he was horrible at it. We continued eating, and I watched him as he shoved forkful after forkful of meat into his mouth.

"You should have shifted and gone hunting for a deer if you are that ravenous." I commented.

"Do they have deer around here?" He asked, and his attention piqued. Liam had a special taste for deer, so I shrugged. He groaned, taking a break from his food and rubbing his eyes.

"What's wrong?" I inquired, and he shook his head as if fighting with his body before lifting a shaky hand to drink his water.

"I don't feel so good." He murmured. I looked up to see him looking pale. Getting onto his feet, he crumpled to the ground.

"W...wh...what's happening?" He asked, trying to get up but failing. I kept quiet, my eyes on his prone body, guilt tearing through my insides. Our eyes met, and I figured he put two and two together and realized I had a hand in what was happening to him.

"W... what did you give me?" He slurred, looking up at me, betrayal and anger etched into his features. It hurt to actually do this to him, but I had no other choice.

Kneeling in front of him, I wiped the beads of sweat on his forehead. I knew his body was trying to fight off the drug from how ragged his breathing was, but the pill I had given him could knock out an Alpha Prime; he had no chance.

"I'm sorry, Liam; you mean so much to me. I can't let you endanger yourself." I whispered.

"No... n.. this. Is. My... f...fight too." He stuttered, his eyelids fluttering.

"I'll avenge Aunt Rose, but I won't let you be part of this. You still have a lot to look forward to in life: meeting your mate, starting a family, and taking over the pack from Uncle Pete. I have nothing to lose; no one's waiting for me." I brushed the hair out of his eyes, my heart breaking as I remembered Harry, my sweet, innocent Harry. Wiping away the tears, I watched him start to drift off.

"When you wake up, you will pack your bag; you will go to the Silverstone Consulate and stay there until I come for you. You will not come after me. You will not do anything to risk this mission."

His eyes opened, glazing over before rolling back. I pressed a kiss on his temple, and I sincerely hoped he would forgive me for what I had done. Grabbing the real pills, I gulped one down, stuffing the rest into the pocket of my denim trousers.

I walked back to my room and packed all I needed. The Magnum Taurus revolver felt heavy in my hand. I glanced at Liam once more, deciding to get a pillow from the room and placing it under his head before exiting the cabin and making my way into the forest. Not bothering to morph, I sprinted in the direction of Jacob Mont Blanc's territory.

Your time of reckoning is near.

My heart leapt into my mouth at the thought of being burnt by silver. “Wait!!!” He stopped, turning to me. I stared at him before folding my arms across my chest. “You're bluffing.” “Am I?!” He asked, slipping his hands into his pocket. “Do you really want to take that risk?” I scowled at him, he had to be bluffing… then again, he would have let Willow drink the poison had I not stopped her. “It's just a kiss pet, unless of course, you're afraid your body will betray you.” Anger flared within me at his insult. He was trying to egg me on and damn it if he wasn't succeeding. “I'll talk to my healer to have an ointment ready.” He said, walking away. “Fine!!! I'll kiss you.” I muttered, he turned back again. “W

I stormed out of the bathroom, Delilah calling after me. Liam was leaning against the wall and jumped at the sight of me looking absolutely furious. “Woah!!! What's going on?!” He demanded, grabbing me. I snarled, struggling against his grip. “I'm going to kill that asshole!!! He branded me with a glorified collar!!! Like some… some pet!!” I snapped. Liam turned his attention to the necklace, his brows furrowed. “Wait… is that?” “The bloody bullet I shot him with. He turned it into a stupid necklace and now I can't get it off because it has no clasp!!!” I growled. Delilah ran out of the toilet. “Ms Adelaide, please you have to calm down.” She pleaded. I snarled at her. “How would you like it if you had a leash around your neck?!” She kept quiet, staring at me, a wary look on her face.

"Oops... I am so sorry Adelaide..." Olivia giggled " I mean the dress wasn't flattering on you in the first place but...." I exhaled through my lips, pushing my hair away from my face, ignoring the horrified looks around me. "Olivia?" She turned to me, still giggling with her friends. "Yeah?" "KNEEL" The order was firm, her eyes went wide as her knees slammed to the ground. Her wolf had no choice but to force her body to obey my command. "W...what..." I stopped a passing waiter and picked up a bottle of wine from his tray before walking up to her, relishing the look of fear and anger in her eyes. Raising the bottle above her head, I looked down my nose at her. "Oops..." I whispered, tipping the bottle over, watching as the contents drench her hair and dress

I felt raw hot anger consume me all the way from the depth of my stomach, spreading through my entire body as I stared at the necklace contained in the box, my eyes on the pendant which had been made out of the bullet I had shot him with. He lifted it up, showing it off to the crowd while keeping his eyes on me. Keep calm Adelaide, you can't attack him here, he is trying to get a reaction out of you. Don't let the bastard win. Willing all the self restraint I had no idea I possessed, I smiled though I was sure it looked more like a grimace. “It's lovely.” His grin widened. “Then you wouldn't mind me putting it on you.” His reply made my blood boil but I forced myself to nod, turning my back to him. He unhooked the necklace, slipping it into his pocket before placing the new one around my neck.

The room and music stopped, it was as if time had stopped at that moment. Everyone stood frozen as Jacob and I stood at the top of the short flight of stairs. I swallowed hard, keeping my eyes on our seats which were all the way at the other side of the hall. Jacob moved, forcing me to walk. We made our way down the stairs, down the walkway. I could feel several eyes on me. I couldn’t even blame them, I had been dead to the world for nine years and for them to see me here, it was definitely shocking. We got to the raised platform and Jacob helped me up the short flight of steps to the table where Tony, the advisors and their mates were all standing. He pulled my chair out and I stood in front of it, he did the same before looking across the stunned standing audience. We sat at the same time and for a second, everyone else except the Advisors and Tony who had also settled, remained standing as if they still couldn't believe what th

He was standing in the hall, dressed in a black suit, leaning against the wall. His eyes moved to mine as I got to the ground floor. He pushed himself off the wall, approaching me. I stood my ground, looking up at him. “You truly are a sight, Adelaide.” He uttered, taking his time to look me over. I could see the desire evident in his eyes. “Too bad I can't say the same for you.” I replied, giving him a saccharine smile. He smirked, offering me his arm. “Shall we?” He asked. “Why ask as if I have a choice in this?” He reached over, his finger tracing my jawline. “Because pet, it makes this more fun for me.” He whispered. Asshole. “Knowing that every decision you make is against what you heart desires and there is nothing you or anyone can do about it. I hold all the cards in this ga
