LOGINThe room and music stopped, it was as if time had stopped at that moment. Everyone stood frozen as Jacob and I stood at the top of the short flight of stairs. I swallowed hard, keeping my eyes on our seats which were all the way at the other side of the hall.
Jacob moved, forcing me to walk. We made our way down the stairs, down the walkway. I could feel several eyes on me. I couldn’t even blame them, I had been dead to the world for nine years and for them to see me here, it was definitely shocking. We got to the raised platform and Jacob helped me up the short flight of steps to the table where Tony, the advisors and their mates were all standing. He pulled my chair out and I stood in front of it, he did the same before looking across the stunned standing audience. We sat at the same time and for a second, everyone else except the Advisors and Tony who had also settled, remained standing as if they still couldn't believe what thADELAIDEMy eyes fluttered open and for a few seconds, I laid there, staring at the ceiling feeling as though I was in some sort of dream like state but I knew it was real, I was awake and everything that had happened last night with Jacob, the letters, Eda and Nanna Ur had all been true.I sat up.Wait a minute…I looked around, brows furrowed.
JACOBThe sun filtered through the curtains into my room, I opened my eyes, immediately turning my attention to the woman asleep beside me. I tucked her hair away from her face, caressing the curve of her jaw line. She sighed, leaning into my hand.A soft smile tugged at the edges of my lips, just as my phone vibrated. Sighing, I reluctantly got out of bed, grabbing my phone in the process. I glanced at her once more, my eyes trailing over her sleeping form, before heading out of the room. I made my way down the short
“No... please... no”My eyes snapped open and I turned my attention to Adelaide, her features showing distress, she twisted and turned, mumbling under her breath“Stop... I didn't mean to… you have to believe me.”A whine escaped her lips, the expression on her face growing more and more distressed with each passing second. I reached over to gently shake her awake when I paused, an idea forming in my head.
"Hello there"She stared at me, not saying a word, her eyes moved to my hand which I slowly kept to the side."The bath's rea...""Don't." I growled, stopping him but it was too late, he had caught her attention. Her head snapped towards Tony, a low warning growl rumbling in her throat."P-prime?" He stuttered.Don't look her in the eyes, Adel
JACOB"Is everything ready for Kamila's arrival?" I inquired."Yes, we have her room ready, and a cabin for her men. A car will pick them up from the airport and bring them here." Tony relayed. I nodded, closing my laptop."How do you think Adelaide will react to Kamila?" Tony asked, glancing at me, I had thought of that. Kamila and I's relationship was unique to say the least, she had become a beacon of hope for me after the incident at Silverstone.
A chill descended and embedded itself deep within me. Jacob had sent this a week before the massacre which meant my father knew he was coming... he knew and he still refused to comply with Jacob's demands. I looked down at the last letter, numb and afraid of what the letter would reveal. I picked it up and immediately noticed this one hasn't been sent, it looked like a rough draft.A̶d̶e̶l̶a̶i̶d̶e̶,D̶e̶a̶r̶e̶s̶t̶ Adelaide,I don't deserve to address you as such
