Nyssa found herself walking into the pack house, her legs dragged her to the corridors without knowing where she was heading.

Her heart was racing. Queen Agatha's words continued to echo in her head.

Lucien was Elder Albert's son?

Does she want to believe that?

But why would the Queen lie about it? Or is she just trying to get Elder Albert back?

She remembered the words over and over again. “Lucien is your son,”

So many questions clouded her head. She didn't have an answer to any of the questions.

Then she found herself in front of her room. Opposite it was Lucien's room, she knew he wasn't around but couldn't help not seeing his face.

She pushed her door open and immediately regretted it. In front of her stood the most annoying little sister.

“Alice”.

Alice wrapped her hands under her breast, her eyebrow arched as she continued staring at Nyssa without a word.

“What is it this time Alice?” Nyssa asked tiredly. She knew she was about to receive an earful from Alice and s

Lucien was restless, his mind kept circling around the note, and what it had to do with the faceless men.Gamma Hume paced the motel room like a restless tiger, muttering curses under his breath. He had read the paper at least thirty times. Each time he finished, he dropped it on the table with more force.“This is a trap,” he said for the hundredth time. “Alpha, I can swear on every ancestor of the Moonrage line this is a trap. They know we’re here. They know what we’re looking for. They know who we’re asking about.”Lucien sat on the small, wooden chair near the dusty window. He didn’t look away from the paper lying on the table.“They must have followed us,” Gamma Hume continued. “Or they tracked us. Or one of those women overheard us and reported back. Or—--”“You think they’re watching us right now?” Lucien interrupted calmly.Gamma Hume stopped pacing immediately. He swallowed heavily. “It’s possible.”Lucien rubbed his forehead slowly. “That’s exactly why we can’t back down.”G

Morning came quickly, Nyssa had barely slept, and Lucien didn’t sleep at all. The moment the sun rose, he was already up, fully dressed, and pacing the room. He waited for a while until everywhere was bright enough to move. He decided not to wake Nyssa. Instead, he kissed her forehead gently and slipped out of the room.He had a mission, and he wasn’t going to waste a second.Gamma Hume was already waiting outside, leaning against one of the pillars with a grim look on his face. He straightened immediately when Lucien approached.“Alpha, morning” he greeted. “Ready?”Lucien nodded once. “Let’s go.”They didn’t take horses or guards. They dressed plainly, throwing on cloaks that made them look like normal travelers instead of the alpha and the gamma of a powerful pack. If there were already eyes watching them, which Lucien knew there were, showing up with soldiers would ruin everything. They moved through the village like two strangers passing through for business. They had disguised t

The walk back home felt longer than usual, it was the weight of everything that had been revealed, or maybe it was the heaviness in the air every time Lucien looked at Nyssa and she avoided his eyes. Whatever it was, the silence between them felt too loud.By the time they got to the pack house, Lucien had already made up his mind. He didn’t even hide it. The moment they crossed the threshold, he turned to her with that loo, and he smiled widely.“We should announce it,” he said quietly, yet firmly. “The whole pack needs to know. They deserve to. It has been a long time since we heard such good news.”Nyssa froze at the foot of the stairs. She turned to him sharply and the disbelief in her eyes was loud. “No,” she said immediately. “Lucien, no. Not now. It’s too dangerous.”He blinked, confused. “Dangerous? Nyssa, they’re our people.”“Exactly.” She folded her arms around herself, suddenly cold. “And after everything that has happened, how can we even say for sure who our people rea

Nyssa stared at the moon goddess still in shock, she couldn't understand why she had to fight a set of people she knew nothing about.“My child, this battle is long overdue.” The moon goddess spoke up as if she had heard Nyssa’s thoughts. “What do you mean?” Lucien’s voice echoed from beside Nyssa.“You have the bloodline of the first ancient being.” “Nyssa’s brows arched in confusion. “Ancient beings?”“Yes,” the moon goddess replied. “There were two beings that were created before werewolves were created. The faceless prince and the Moon princess. They fell in love and got married but the faceless prince soon became really greedy. I guess he wasn't really in love, he was just with the Moon princess because of her powers.” She paused and Nyssa could see the sadness in her eyes. It was like she had carried the pain for a very long time.“He wanted to live forever,” she continued. “And the only way to do that was to kill every blood of the Moon princess and then she was already wi

The warm light from the sun spilled through the curtains of Lucien and Nyssa’s chamber, settling over the room gently.Nyssa was the first to stir, stretching her limbs beneath the blankets as the memories of the previous night settled warmly in her chest. Lucien had been tender, reassuring, and impossibly protective yet she sensed he was hiding something. She didn’t press him, because deep down she knew she could trust him.Lucien opened his eyes shortly after she did, and the moment Nyssa shifted to stand from the bed, he reached out and tugged her lightly back into his arms. A small, amused sound escaped her.“Lucien .…” she murmured, but he only smirked, brushing a stray curl from her cheek.“We haven’t even started the day properly and you’re leaving already?” he teased, his voice low with that familiar warmth that always made her heart skip in the most frustrating way.Nyssa rolled her eyes dramatically, though a shy smile lifted her lips. “We have to prepare. We’re going to see

Lucien remained seated beside Nyssa for a long time, watching the way her expression softened as she finished explaining everything the moon goddess had revealed to her. He felt an unfamiliar sense of clarity settle over him. It was soothing, but most of all, he was happy that Nyssa trusted him enough to tell him the truth.“You know, I always knew that you coming back to me was a second chance, and I could never repeat the mistakes I made, I still feel really bad for rejecting you that night and —-” “Shhh,” Nyssa whispered gently. “To be honest I forgave you a long time ago, I guess I just didn't want to let go of that hurt because it was the only thing stopping me from falling deeply in love with you. But that too didn't work out.”He brushed a thumb across her cheek, his voice came out low and steady. “The moon goddess really had great plans for us all along,” he said. “And I will always be by your side, Nyssa. No matter what comes and we will have our little pubs together….”Nys
