IRIS

A loud moan eludes my lips, tearing through the air, the sensation causing my eyelids to flutter close, my body trembling as downright glee consumed me, ripping off my senses in a go.

“That’s it, baby, ” he praises, his voice husky, easily the sexiest thing I’ve heard.

He plunges his fingers in and out of me in a slow rhythm, his low grunts filling up my ears. I throw my head back, my fingers digging into his back as the feeling consumes me whole.

He holds me steady with a girl hand on my waist as he does incredible things to my body.

My abdomen clenches really hard, and the tingles that shoot up my spine, alongside the euphoric sensation that courses through me, converge beneath my stomach, curling my toes. I fist his hair, eliciting a low grunt from him that sent a vibration thrumming against me. My muscles stiffen, and my nipples harden.

He picks up his pace, thumb circling my clip as he brings me to the edge.

With one long, hard moan, I come undone against his fingers,

  • Marked by the Lycan Prince   Chapter 70

IRISDinner feels like a blur before it even begins. The house still smells the same, like dried herbs, old wood, and lavender polish. But everything else? Different. Sharper. Heavier.Darian walks just behind me, his steps hesitant. I can feel the tension in him without even looking. The same man who faced down guards and defied a king for me now looks completely out of place in my grandmother’s dining room. He hasn’t glanced once at my grandfather since they entered the house, and the feeling seems mutual. We all sit. Nana at the head of the table, Grandfather at the other. I take the middle seat on one side, and Darian lowers himself beside me. His movements are measured, too careful, like he’s trying not to break something already cracked.“Eat,” Nana says gently, passing around a tray of roasted potatoes and grilled vegetables. “No one can think properly on an empty stomach.”“I appreciate the food,” Darian says, voice low, “but I won’t stay long.”I frown. “You should eat.”He

DARIAN“Even if one of them is the man I’ve spent most of my life wanting to drag before the AlphaCouncil in chains.”She winces at that, but doesn’t interrupt.“Iris,” I say, softer now. “I’m not just risking my duty for you. I’m risking my family’s name. Everything we’ve built. But…” I exhale, shaking my head. “If this prophecy is true, then your existence has already shaken the future. And if I’m going to fall… I want to fall knowing I made the choice myself. Not because someone else dictated it.”She doesn’t respond immediately, just stares at me like she’s seeing me for the first time.Like I’m not just a prince. Or a threat. Or some cursed prophecy.Just… me.And then she speaks, her voice trembling slightly. “You’re really going to leave me here?”“I’m not abandoning you,” I say quickly. “I’ll keep my distance, but I’ll stay close. Hidden, if I have to. I’ll post a few of my most loyal men near the perimeter, far enough not to raise suspicion. If there’s even a whisper of dange

DARIANMy heart pounds against my ribcage like a war drum. I stand frozen in Iris’s grandfather’s living room, “You!” hanging in the air. When he saw me, the flash of recognition in his eyes hit me like a blade. And suddenly the stories I’d heard in whispers, half‑digested, fell into place. He betrayed my grandfather’s pack. Not simply fleeing, not merely hiding, but actively turning on them, under cover. Because of pride. Because he envied us. Because he lost a bride in a political game and decided revenge.I understood then: Iris’s grandfather and mine were rivals, two Alphas of large packs bordering one another. Both vying for influence. Both courting the same powerful pack’s princess to form an alliance that could secure peace. My grandfather won. The marriage altered the balance of power. Political alliances shifted. Packs that had stood with Iris’s grandfather drifted away.He didn’t just accept defeat. He plotted. Secretly he built up a force, soldiers loyal to him but unseen,

IRIS“Next left,” I say. “We’re heading to the south ridge, outside the city.”The driver nods, not asking questions. I sit back, letting the reality of everything catch up with me.I’m running away. From my life, from everything I know. And yet, I don’t feel like I have a choice. Not with what Darian told me. Not with the fire I saw in his eyes when he said his father wanted me dead.As the car makes the turn, Darian shifts beside me. “Thank you,” he says quietly.I look over at him. “For what?”“For trusting me. Even after all this.”I’m quiet for a beat. “It’s not like I have much of a choice, is it?”He winces slightly. “I guess not.”I sigh. “I just… I don’t know how to feel, Darian. I don’t know if I should be scared for me or for you. If you’re right about that prophecy, then…then my existence ruins yours.”He turns his head to face me, his expression intense. “You don’t ruin me. You saved me. I was drowning before you came along, Iris. Everything felt heavy and fake and script

IRISI stare at his profile, jaw clenched. My mind reels. “Kill me?” I whisper, barely sure I heard. “Why?”Darian doesn’t speak immediately. Horns honk behind us. The engine hums. I watch his face in the mirror, troubled, regretful, resolute.I press my forehead against the cool glass of the window, arms wrapped around myself as if I can protect my own heart. “You’re not serious.”“You have to take this seriously,” he says finally, voice low but firm.“I am taking it seriously, Darian,” I bite back. “But you’re not telling me why. None of this makes sense.”He sighs and rubs his forehead like he’s trying to smooth out a headache that’s been there for years. “It’s not easy to explain.”“Try,” I whisper. The silence that follows is thick. The road outside is a blur of trees and light posts, but I don’t see any of it anymore. My world has shrunk down to this moment, this car, this truth he’s about to tell me.“When I was born,” he begins slowly, “a prophecy surfaced.”I look at him. His

IRISI wake up with the faint memory of last night’s dinner lingering.Darian’s hand brushing mine, the way his smile had softened in the candlelight. I dress slowly, pulling on a simple T‑shirt and jeans. Ordinary clothes after an evening that had felt anything but ordinary.I stand before my mirror, twirling slightly, imagines dancing behind my eyes: maybe tonight he’d call again, maybe we’d walk under moonlight, maybe just sit and talk without shadows creeping in. Okay, Iris. This isn’t a Disney movie. My hair falls loose; I tuck a strand behind my ear. My heart feels like it might burst or shatter, I can’t tell whichBut I actually feel like I’m in a Disney movie though. The door opens quietly. Daisy slips inside, still pulling her backpack straps over her shoulders. She pauses at the doorway, watching me.“Morning, sunshine,” she teases, voice bright. “You look like you had pleasant dreams.”I smile, turn to her. “You caught me smiling at my mirror. It’s dangerous to look this
