Chapter 2

Autor: Spellman
Lydia's face turned pale, and her fingers curled slightly.

I immediately ran over, grabbed Vivian's purse strap, and shook it hard. "Vivian, are you leaving?"

Vivian looked down at me and forced a smile. "Yes. Since you don't like me, I'll leave right now."

I tilted my head and pointed at the brand-new Hermès bag in her hand. "But I saw Dad send you 50,000 dollars yesterday to buy that bag. If you quit, are you going to give it back to us?"

The living room instantly fell silent again.

Eric's hand, which was still holding Vivian's arm, froze.

Vivian stopped crying. Her face turned pale too.

I added, "The TV shows say that when someone quits, they have to return company property. Vivian, can you put the bag down before you leave?"

Eric's face looked terrible.

Vivian gripped the handles of the bag so tightly that her knuckles turned white.

Of course she didn't want to leave.

In the end, Vivian stayed.

Not only did she stay, but she also sat comfortably on our couch and chatted with Alex and Eric as if nothing had happened.

She no longer acted weak and helpless like she had before.

Instead, she showed off her confident, capable side. "Mr. Alex, Mr. Lincoln, about the multimillion-dollar project for the Southport property, I finished the proposal overnight. The investors are almost ready to approve it."

Vivian smiled as she poured Alex a drink.

But from the corner of her eye, she glanced at Lydia, who was walking over with a fruit tray. "Honestly, I envy Mrs. Lincoln."

She sighed and continued in a pitying voice. "Mrs. Lincoln gets to stay home with the kids and enjoy a comfortable life. She doesn't have to deal with all the stress of work. I'm not that lucky. I worked for three days straight to help Mr. Lincoln. I was so tired that I barely had time to eat. I guess I'll never be as lucky as Mrs. Lincoln."

Eric clearly loved hearing those words. His eyes were full of admiration as he looked at Vivian.

But when he turned to Lydia, his brows immediately furrowed. "Lydia, Vivian has helped me a lot at the company. As my wife, you should learn from her and help take some pressure off me. Don’t tie yourself to the kitchen."

Lydia put down the fruit tray and lowered her head without saying a word.

I sat on the carpet, building with my blocks.

When I looked up and saw the "loser" label above Lydia's head growing fainter and fainter, I felt sad.

I threw my blocks aside and shouted. "Dad is lying!"

Eric's face darkened. "Maya, what are you acting up about now?"

I scrambled to my feet and ran over to Lydia.

Then I pointed at Vivian. "Vivian spends all the money she makes on new clothes, new purses, and new necklaces. But Mom spends her money on my formula and books. She even buys expensive supplements for Grandma!"

I looked up at Vivian and stared straight at her. "You spend Dad's money every day to make yourself look pretty. Mom takes care of Grandma and me, and she doesn't even want to buy herself a new dress. How can you say those things about Mom? Do you think Mom has nothing to do just because you don't have to buy Grandma's medicine?"

The entire room fell into complete silence.

Vivian couldn't smile anymore. She slammed her glass down on the table.

Eric was furious. He was about to scold me, but Alex stopped him.

Alex put down his glass. The "judge" label above his head began to glow with a faint golden light, filling the room with an invisible pressure.

Lydia stopped walking, but she didn't turn around. Her voice was soft but firm. "Eric, I've given you so many chances. But ever since the day Maya was born, you haven't acted like a father. When I was sick and in the hospital, you were at a party with Vivian. When your mother was seriously ill, you were traveling overseas with Vivian. You even forgot to come home on my birthday because you were busy buying Vivian a new purse. I waited for you for seven years. But I don't want to wait anymore."After saying that, Lydia took my hand and walked upstairs.I could hear Eric quietly crying behind us.A month later, Alex made the final decision to cut Eric off from the family.90 percent of the Lincoln family's assets were transferred to Lydia.Eric was left with only a small apartment and an old car. Alex even took the company away from him and hired a professional management team to run it.Lydia quickly picked herself back up.With the money Alex gave her, she started her own chain of beau

"If it weren't for Maya, she would have taken every last dollar you had!"Alex turned to the butler. "Call the police. Then hand all this evidence over to them. She attempted murder, committed fraud, and stole millions from the company. With all those charges, she could spend the rest of her life in prison!"Vivian suddenly lifted her head and let out a desperate scream. "No! Mr. Alex, please! Please forgive me! I know I was wrong! I'm sorry!"She crawled over and grabbed Alex's leg, crying hysterically.Alex kicked her away in disgust. "Get lost!"The sound of police sirens grew louder.Three police officers entered the Lincoln Residence and showed their badges and arrest warrant."Vivian, you are under arrest for attempted murder, fraud, embezzlement, and other offenses."Two officers pulled Vivian to her feet and handcuffed her.She looked completely broken. Her eyes were empty as she muttered to herself, "It's over..."The officers led her outside. But when she passed me, she sudde

Five minutes later, the family doctor hurried in with a medical bag.Vivian tried to fight back, but two maids held her arms and legs down. The doctor gave her a quick examination. Then he said without expression, "Mr. Alex, this woman is not pregnant. There are no signs of pregnancy at all. That pregnancy report was most likely forged."The living room became completely silent.Eric's hand, which had been supporting Vivian, slowly dropped away. His eyes grew cold as he looked at her.Vivian completely broke down. She collapsed onto the floor. Her hair was a mess, and her makeup was smeared all over her face. She no longer looked elegant and confident like she had before.Alex looked at her coldly. "Vivian, you've caused trouble for our family again and again. First, you tried to poison and kill someone. Then you forged evidence to frame Lydia. And now you've even forged a pregnancy report to get closer to Eric! Did you really think you could marry Eric that easily?"Vivian suddenly l

Alex hung up the phone and glared at Vivian. "Vivian, what else do you have to say?"Vivian sat on the floor, her face pale and her lips trembling. After a long moment, she finally stammered, "I... I was tricked too. Someone gave me these photos and told me Mrs. Lincoln was cheating on you. I was afraid you would be humiliated, so I panicked and showed them to you..."I tilted my head and looked at her. "Oh, really? But didn't you just say Mom tried to poison you because she knew you had proof of her affair? Now that we've proved the photos are fake, why would Mom want to poison you?"I blinked my big eyes and looked at her innocently. "Vivian, first you said Mom was cheating on Dad. Then you said Mom wanted to kill you. But Mom didn't do anything! So does that mean you've been lying this whole time?"Vivian looked completely hopeless. She couldn't think of anything to say.Eric stood there with an ugly expression. He looked deeply embarrassed. He stared at the fake photos on the floo

"The photos clearly show everything. How are you still going to deny it?" Eric roared and slapped Lydia across the face.Slap!Lydia stumbled back several steps. Half of her face quickly swelled up, and a thin line of blood appeared at the corner of her mouth."Mom!" I rushed over and stood in front of Lydia. My whole body trembled with anger.Vivian, still kneeling on the floor, began crying even harder. "Mrs. Lincoln, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have shown these photos. But you can't try to poison me just because you're afraid your secret will be exposed. You knew I knew about your affair, so you poisoned the chicken soup to kill two birds with one stone..."She was such a good actress that even I almost believed her.Eric's chest rose and fell heavily with rage.He pointed at Lydia and shouted. "Lydia, get out of this house! You're leaving with nothing!"Lydia covered her face and cried. She wanted to explain, but she was too shocked to get the words out.I looked up at the label above V

The living room fell silent.Vivian's face became even paler. Her lips trembled, and she couldn't say a word.Eric finally spoke in a dry voice, "Maya, don't make things up. This could just be a coincidence..."Alex slammed his cane against the floor with a heavy thud. "A coincidence? Eric, you're still defending her?"Alex turned to the butler. "Call the police now. Then send this soup to the lab. I want to know exactly what was put in it!"Vivian's legs went weak. She collapsed onto the couch and burst into tears. "Mr. Alex, I'm being framed! I would never poison anyone! Why would I even do something like that?"I tilted my head and looked at the two glaring labels above her head. "Killer.""Because you want Mom to disappear. Once Mom is gone, you can move in here, spend Dad's money, live in Mom's house, and sleep in Mom's bed. That's how it always happens on TV," I said.Vivian's head snapped up. A flash of cruelty crossed her eyes but tears quickly covered it."Maya, I've always be
