LOGINElara’s POV
The sound of a key turning in my door was painfully loud.
The door opened, and Seraphina stepped inside. She looked proud and pleased, like someone who had just won a prize. My stomach dropped. This would not end well.
“Lucky you,” she said sweetly. “You get to live a little longer.”
She threw a pile of clothes onto my bed.
“Your marriage has been decided.”
So they had found someone willing to take me. Some unlucky wolf who didn’t care enough to ask questions. I tried to feel angry. I tried to feel sad. But all I felt was relief. At least I wasn’t going to die today.
Then Seraphina smiled wider.
“You will marry Alpha Kael Nightbane,” she said proudly.
My breath stopped. Fear rushed through my body so fast my hands began to shake.
No… That can’t be real.
He was ruthless. Cold. Deadly. Marrying him was no different from being sentenced to death.
Seraphina laughed when she saw my face.
“Oh yes. You’re the only woman he agreed to marry,” she said. She grabbed my arm and pulled me up from the bed. “Stand up, bride-to-be. It’s your lucky day.”
I clung to her sleeve desperately.
“Seraphina, if he finds out I was marked, he will kill me,” I begged.
She tilted her head. “Actually, he won’t mark you. He already has a marked mate. Who knows where she ran off to?”
She leaned closer and smiled cruelly.
“And if he does find out about your mark… You should kill yourself before he tortures you to death.”
She yanked my hairbrush from the table and dragged it through my hair painfully. Then she twisted my hair into a tight style and clipped it in place. Next, she shoved a dress into my arms.
“Get dressed. Your Alpha is waiting, and he doesn’t look patient.”
When she finished, I barely recognised myself in the mirror. The dress clung tightly to my body. It was flashy, heavy with beads, and far too bold for my taste. I had always liked simple clothes. Quiet styles. This dress felt like a costume.
None of this was my choice. Survive first. Feel later.
Seraphina looked pleased with her work.
“No one will mistake who you belong to now,” she said with a smirk. “Let’s go.”
The sunlight hit my face as we stepped outside. The breeze brushed my skin, and for a moment, I almost felt free. Almost.
The path to the ceremony hall was crowded. Pack members whispered nervously as we passed. I spotted Lina, one of the few people who had ever been kind to me.
“Elara,” she whispered, rushing to my side. “Are you sure about this?”
My heart tightened. Lina had never mocked me. She had never called me wolfless. She had even checked on my mother for me when she could. I wanted to tell her everything. But that would only put her in danger.
So I hugged her tightly instead. She understood.
Seraphina laughed softly. “Smart girl. Keeping quiet.”
Then someone stepped into our path. My heart froze.
Liam.
The man I once loved.
He looked at me coldly. “That was fast,” he said. “You didn’t waste any time clinging to another Alpha.”
Anger burned through me.
“You would know all about betrayal,” I snapped. “If anyone trusted the wrong person, it was me.”
I looked at him and Seraphina.
“Congratulations. You deserve each other.”
Liam’s jaw tightened. He looked away.
Seraphina laughed.
“Oh don’t act innocent,” she said. She leaned into Liam and whispered loudly, “She was so desperate for revenge that she let someone else mark her.”
Liam exploded.
“What?!” He grabbed my collar and yanked hard.
The dress tore. My neck was exposed.
His eyes widened. “The mark… Is it gone? She healed already?”
Seraphina grabbed my neck roughly.
Then suddenly they were shoved away.
A tall, dark figure stepped between us. Power rolled off him. I knew that presence. My heart stuttered.
He turned to face me. Strong jaw. Sharp eyes. Dangerous beauty.
It was him.
Before I could speak, he said coldly:
“So you are my chosen bride.”
Then his gaze sharpened, pinning me to the spot.
“But why did I hear that you were already marked?”
Elara's POVA chill ran through me when he looked. His gaze was hard, like clouds before thunder never wavered. Though his stare bit deep, warmth pulsed from him, steady as breath after running. The air between us pulled tight."I asked you a question," Kael said. His voice was low and scary. The servants nearby jumped back in fear. "My second-in-command hears rumours about a mark. Your sister says a stranger shamed you. Is there something you want to tell me, Elara?"Liam stood frozen, fingers clutching the ragged edge of my dress. Like something inside snapped, his face drained of colour, jaw tight with rage. His voice cracked “Alpha Kael, it happened right there!” A sharp breath. “Seraphina witnessed everything.” Eyes wide now. “That mark on her skin? From a wild wolf. The forest. Three nights passed.”Beside him, Seraphina had a mean, happy look in her eyes. She stepped forward and put her hand on Liam’s arm. "It’s true, Alpha. My sister has always been desperate. She ran into the

Elara’s POVA few days later, I stood in front of the small mirror in my bedroom. I slowly pulled my nightshirt away from my neck, exposing the place where my shoulder met my skin. The bite mark was gone.It was completely healed.I stared at my reflection for a long moment, then reached up and touched the smooth skin with trembling fingers. There was no scar. No bruise. No sign at all.It healed too fast.Anyone who looked at me now would never guess what had happened beneath the Mating Moon. They would never know I had been marked by a powerful wolf. But I knew. The mark was still there, hidden beneath my skin, sealed inside my body. Invisible to others, but very real to me.My chest tightened. If only I could find him.The man who saved me.The man who marked me.But my wolf was still silent. Dormant. Because of that, I couldn’t feel him through the bond. I couldn’t sense his location or reach out to him in any way.I didn’t know his name.I didn’t know his face. All I had were mem
Elara’s POV“What the hell…” my father cursed as he stormed up the stairs.Heavy footsteps shook the house. My father and stepmother burst into the room. The space felt too small as they moved toward me. I tried to step back, but there was nowhere to go.Seraphina grabbed my arm and spun me around roughly, forcing my neck into the light.“So you can see it clearly,” she said with cruel satisfaction. My father stared at the bite mark on my neck. His eyes widened.“This mark…” he muttered, disbelief thick in his voice. “This was left by a very strong wolf.”Then he looked at me sharply.“Who marked you?”At the word strong, Seraphina and my stepmother froze. Their shocked looks quickly turned ugly.I didn’t want to answer. I could barely understand it myself. But in this house, silence was never allowed.“I don’t know,” I whispered. My father’s face darkened.“Where is he?” he roared.“I think he’s still near the pond in the forest,” I said quietly. “I’m not sure.”Seraphina laughed lou
Elara’s POVOne of the rogues laughed without even turning around.“Back off, lad. Go find your own woman.”“Wait…” another rogue stammered. “He’s not”All of them slowly turned to look behind them.I followed their gaze.A man stood there, dressed in black from head to toe. He was tall, with broad shoulders that seemed to fill the space around him. Even standing still, he gave off power and danger. He looked stronger than Liam who was already a powerful Alpha heir. But I couldn’t see his face in the darkness.“I said leave her alone,” the man spoke again, his voice calm but deadly. “Don’t make me say it a third time.”Fear flashed across the rogues’ faces.“Shit. Let’s go,” one muttered. They backed away quickly, cursing under their breath, and then disappeared into the forest.Silence followed. Now it was just him. From where I stood, I could feel it.He was in heat too.The pull between us was instant and overwhelming. I felt drawn to him like a moth to a flame. For one brief secon
Elara's POV "What are you doing?"The words stuck in my throat. I stood frozen in Liam's doorway, hands still trembling. Tonight was supposed to be our night, our first Mating Day. I'd finally told myself I was ready to give in to him, trusted every soft promise he'd ever whispered. I'd pictured rose petals on the bed or maybe a room lit with a dozen candles. But what I walked in on wasn't even close.Liam was naked. He looked just how I had always imagined strong, gorgeous, still breathing heavy. But someone else was there, too.My younger half-sister, Seraphina, was sprawled out on top of him like she'd just won a contest. She didn't pull away. She didn't look shocked or sorry. The minute she spotted me, she actually smiled. Then she tilted her head, moaned (louder than necessary), and sank her teeth right into Liam's neck."Yes... right there," she whispered, making sure I caught every syllable.Liam let out a groan. He didn't tell her to stop. He grabbed her hips instead, rolled h
