Tristan's POV

My mind has been on a muddle these days, thinking about the best way to apologise to Anastasia after what happened at the hospital, and the way I reacted, which was why I didn't go home for days, wanting to let the awkwardness cool off. But what I heard from Serena as I was leaving left me with even more thoughts.

I never could have thought she had such a request, even though I noticed she always seemed worried when we were together.

“Does she want me to register her son as my leg

Anastasia's POVThe atmosphere in the boardroom had become painfully awkward after I caught them bad-mouthing me behind my back, and none of them seemed to know where to look. The men and women who had been confidently questioning my abilities moments ago were suddenly staring at their papers, avoiding my gaze as if the documents could somehow save them from the embarrassment.“What's wrong? Is it suddenly not fun to badmouth me anymore?” I asked as I walked towards my seat, but none of them replied.I could practically feel their discomfort hanging in the air, but I wasn't going to make things easier for them. I leaned back in my chair, keeping my expression calm as I watched them squirm. They had doubted my ability to handle the project, only to realize that I had heard every word they said. Now, the silence wasn't because they had nothing to say; it was because they were ashamed to say it to my face.“Ermm... Ms. Lancaster,” the tense atmosphere was cut through by Mr. Stiles, the C

Anastasia's POV“It's good to be back!” I blurted, as I put on my sunshades while walking past people at the airport, dragging my suitcase behind me.Five years... It had been five years since I had stepped my foot in the country, and I had mixed feelings about being back.I couldn't believe I had stayed away from the country for this long, but maybe I was desperately trying to save myself from losing my sanity over my obsession with Tristan Brooke. That was why I could stay away for years, but now, I wasn't running away anymore. If there was someone who should be running away, it should be Tristan Brooke and not me. Moreover, what happened between us was in the past now, and I had moved past it... or so I thought. But someone calling out my name broke through my thoughts.“Ms. Lancaster!” I heard, and I looked around until my eyes settled on a petite blonde girl with glasses, holding up a placard with my name on it.“Oh, Jessica,” I beamed as I walked towards her.Jessica was my pers

Tristan's POVMy hands went numb as I held the contract in my hand, and I didn't know if I could still cause a tantrum after Anastasia made this move. But was this not a clear indication that Anastasia really wanted this divorce?I mean, a lot of people didn't know about the arrangements between us, but for her to give her attorney the marriage contract she signed just because she wanted to get away from me made me realize that I had been delusional all this while. She wasn't being hidden away from me; she was the one who refused to see me...but what sin had I committed that was so grave?“This...when did she give you this?” I asked, my voice low, as I held tightly onto the contract, my heart being ripped apart, knowing this was a deal breaker if Anastasia had actually sent this.“Yes, she...”“Then I want to see her. I want her to show me this and tell me it's over,” I mumbled, my lips shaky as I bit down on my raging emotions, but the man's blank face told me I wasn't going to get a

Tristan's POVI walked out of the mansion in wobbly steps because my body was still weak and the fever was catching up with me, but I couldn't stop. I needed to see Anastasia and have her put a stop to this madness before it blew up out of proportion.“Tristan…”Serena's voice came from behind me, and I halted in my steps, turning to look at her, even though the movement made my headache flare up, but I couldn't ignore her.“About what you said in the living room, it's not true, right?” She blurted as she got closer to me.“What are you referring to? I said a lot of things,” I breathed, my voice coming out hoarse and ragged as my head was pounding.“That you aren't going to divorce Anastasia in this lifetime. What if that's not what Anastasia wants?” She breathed, and I immediately felt offended. Why was everyone so certain of what Anastasia wanted?“Then I'm going to ask her. If she tells me to my face that she wants the marriage over, I might allow it.”“But Anastasia is not here no

Tristan's POVI hissed in frustration as everyone gathered after my mother's outburst, but what was more concerning was my grandfather's reaction. It was as if he wanted to bite my head off.“Tristan Brooke, did you just raise your voice at me?” Grandfather asked in a grave voice as he walked towards me, and my mother could already sense the tension as she immediately shielded me from him.“Calm down, Father. I don't know what's going on, but forgive Tristan. He's just being a child,” my mother said, and I scoffed.“Really? Maybe you are right. That's why his wife decided to divorce him, and he didn't even get a bit of knowledge of it,” my grandfather hissed.“Maybe I didn't get any knowledge of it because I was blindsided and...” I rumbled, trying to find an excuse even when it sounded ridiculous because, looking back at it now, there had been signs. Those vacant looks...I should have known something was wrong.“And that's your incompetence. It's one thing to make your wife unhappy,

  • Marriage Over; Sign The Divorce Papers, Mr. Brooke    Chapter 42; The Wrong Silhouette

Tristan's POVThe rain poured relentlessly over me, soaking me to the bone as I stumbled forward, barely able to keep my eyes open. My clothes clung heavily to my body, and water dripped from my hair and ran down my face. The cold was getting to me, but one thought kept me rooted to where I was standing. I knew Anastasia was going to come out to see me.“There’s no way she wouldn't come out,” I mumbled, but my teeth chattered because of the cold, and I found my vision getting dizzy as the downpour didn't have mercy on me. It was attacking me with full force.I could barely feel my fingers anymore, and with every step, my strength seemed to drain away.I tried to push myself forward, but my knees suddenly buckled beneath me. As I fell, I forced my eyes open one last time and caught sight of a blurred silhouette in the distance.“Anastasia?” I breathed, my voice coming out hoarse as I tried to keep my eyes open.Someone was running toward me through the rain. I wanted to call out, to st
