Chapter 6

Early in the morning.

The warmth of daybreak gradually filled the lavish bedroom, casting light on Qin Muchu’s fair complexion, slowly waking her from her sleep.

She turned to the other side, only to find him not in the room.

He had already left.

It was better this way. Let yesterday be remembered as a fleeting dream, and with this, she could finally close the chapter of the youth she had lost.

But even as she tried to think of it that way, she could not help feeling a sense of emptiness somewhere at the back of her mind.

Just at this moment, her cell phone rang.

She quickly picked up her phone from the floor to see her best friend’s name, Lu Rongyan, on the caller ID.

“Muchu!”

Lu Rongyan’s voice sounded so frantic the moment she answered the call. “Where have you been? Do you have any idea how many times I’ve called you? Why didn’t you answer? I almost went to the police!”

“I…” Qin Muchu opened her mouth to reply but said nothing in the end.

“Anyway, enough about me, what about you, did you catch Li Yiqin in action yesterday?” she asked.

“... I caught him.”

Lu Rongyan started bawling on the other end of the phone. “That bastard is horrible! What did I ever see in him? I must’ve been blind! Chuchu, do you have any idea how old that woman was? She’s forty-five years old!”

Qin Muchu was shocked speechless. That was quite a taste Li Yiqin had.

“Don’t cry, Rongyan. It’s not worth crying over a scum like him! It’s his loss! He has let go of such a fine woman like you, he should be the one crying! Do you understand me?”

Qin Muchu commended herself. Even in this situation, she was still comforting other people while she should be the one crying!

She came along to uphold justice for her friend but oddly, had ended up throwing in her chastity into the bargain. It was unfair!

“Muchu, are you listening to me?”

“Ah?” Her straying mind was forcibly pulled back by Lu Rongyan before she asked, “What did you say just now?”

“I said, where have you been last night? Why couldn’t I find you?”

“... Didn’t you say they were in room 5888? I went in but got the wrong room.”

“They were, room 5888. Fifth floor, room number 888!”

“888 on the fifth floor?”

“Yeah! Don’t tell me, you went into room 88 on the 58th floor?”

Qin Muchu said nothing.

She did.

“I heard from a friend that there is only one room on the 58th floor! And it’s even exclusive to the hotel’s one and only VVIP customer! No one else could have it!”

Qin Muchu was silent again.

That exclusive customer was obviously, Lou Sichen!

No wonder she saw the words ‘VVIP Only’ hanging on the door. Just that she did not think much of it.

“Muchu, you have gone into the wrong room, are you okay? Did they give you a hard time?” Lu Rongyan sounded concerned.

“I’m okay, it’s just… I met an acquaintance.”

“An acquaintance? What a coincidence!”

“... Yeah.”

And quite a coincidence!

“Who was it?”

“... My ex-boyfriend.”

“Little Tail’s father?”

“... Yeah,” Qin Muchu answered.

Little Tail, her full name Qin Yuanwei, was the daughter of Qin Muchu and Lou Sichen–a product of an unrestrained night six years ago. The only thing was that Lou Sichen did not know.

Recalling what happened six years ago only gave her a headache.

“My goodness!” Her friend was very surprised.

“I’ll fill you in on the details another time. I’m a little exhausted now…”

Qin Muchu did not explain further and hung up the call listlessly.

She turned her attention to the bedside table where an unopened morning after pill laid with a bottle of water. Next to the water bottle… was a thick stack of red-colored notes. It was so very thick! What an eyesore! How annoying!

That smear of red seemed to be stinging her eyes that she had to look away when she took the pill with water.

The taste was a tad harsh and a little bitter as it dissolved in her mouth, but ultimately disgusting!

Naturally, she did not take the stack of cash.
