Chapter 24

I sat on my bed for two hours, thinking about what I saw in the living room and how I'm going to cope with this kind of emotional trauma for two years, my heart raced a thousand miles forward but I still couldn't find peace within myself. My temperature rapidly increased as I drained myself with thoughts, and my head started to hurt, I picked up the telephone once more and called the maid.

She came to my room few minutes after I drop the call, she looked so pale and sad. I felt pity for what she must have suffered at the hands of Alexia before my presence in the house

"do you need me to get anything for you ma'am?" she asked

I lost track of what I wanted to say as I stared into her eyes

"Come, sit on the bed with me," I said

"I don't think that's a good idea ma'am, I'm just a worker here, I don't deserve to sit close to my master's second wife" she replied

I was stunned by what she referred to me as, I didn't see that coming but I smiled regardless of my pain
