FORTY EIGHT

Jane sat alone in Wayne’s office. It was big and airy, just slightly smaller than Daniel’s but whereas the walls of Daniel’s office were filled with countless plaques and awards, Wayne’s office walls were adorned with simple but breathtaking photos of his travels throughout the world. There was one of Wayne in the middle of a forest filled with lush green bamboo trees that seemingly shot all the way up to the great blue sky, another had a view of a golden sunset as waves crashed onto a lighthouse by the sea and yet another of the great Sphinx. This one had Wayne all bundled in a shawl squinting his eyes and grinning happily into the camera. Looking at the photos, Jane realized how little she knew about Wayne Winters. Judging by his appearance, she had thought of him as more of an indoors man but apparently, she was wrong.
