The Joy Of Every Father

Dexter arrived outside his father's ward with high hopes and aspirations. This time, he was confident enough that no one was going to kick him out due to Doctor Escobar's massive presence. He hasn't recovered from the manner Kelly treated him in the early hours of the day. 

"Hold on a second, Doctor. I have one problem, and I want us to sort it out right now. Before we go inside, could you be kind enough to please promise me that you are not going to tell my Father that I spoke against his friend, Kelly? I would rather not ruin their friendship that has stood strong for decades," Dexter pleaded with the utmost sincerity. It's rather weird to see Dexter looking so pitiful. Coming from someone who doesn't give a fuck about anyone. 

"You must be dreaming of you think I'm going to respond to you on that aspect. Do you think I'm here to joke with you or waste my time? I've got important issues to do with my time. Rather, I chose to sacrifice my time with you. Is this how you going to repay me? Damn you, Dexter. I expected more from you." Doctor Escobar ignored Dexter's question and forced the door open. 

Kelly and George were already in a heated moment before Doctor Escobar and Dexter stepped inside. 

The presence of Dexter made it even worse for Kelly that he wished the ground would just swallow him up. 

"Dexter? You're here? This is unbelievable. Someone, please tell me I am dreaming?" George grinned with a shocked look on his face. Dexter was the last person he expected to see. 

"Yes, Father. I can understand that you're in shock but trust me, this is not a dream. It's the reality dawning on you right now. That aside, how are you feeling now? That's one of the reasons I am here. I also want to apologize if I in any way caused your heart issues. It wasn't my intention," From a distance, Dexter asked. He wasn't certain if his Father would let him come closer to him. He is afraid of getting embarked in the presence of Kelly and Doctor Escobar. 

Staring at Kelly, George queried. "Why are you not saying anything? Care to explain yourself? Everything is starting to look like a movie to me,"

"Explain myself about what?" Kelly itched his head and pretended not to know what George was talking about. He faced the ground to admire the tiles. Knowing what he did, he was too scared to look into George's eyes and speak. 

"Are you deaf?

Didn't you hear what I just said?" George roared like a wounded Lion. At that point, Doctor Escobar emerged to perform his duty as George's Doctor.

"Please quit the yelling. Remember, you are still recovering. I knew what it took me to get you stable last night. I don't want to go through the same stress again," George pleaded. 

"I guess I have to leave now. I need to visit the restroom," Kelly sai, as he tried to excuse himself hehad caused. 

George was wise enough to notice that it was a trick. Immediately, he called Kelly to stop him from leaving. "Stay right there. Don't you even dare walk away from me," 

"I don't understand what's going on. Would you rather prefer that I pee in my underpants?" Kelly protested. He started acting uncomfortable to make everyone believe that he was actually feeling pressed. Unknown to him, everyone already knew it was a trick. No matter how hard he tried to pretend, they were never gonna fall for him. 

"Who care if you pee in your panties? The hospital has got a restroom for you to wash up when that happens," George mocked Kelly. 

That was the only time Kelly has seen George so upset. He was starting to doubt if George was the friend he grew up with. 

"What's going on here? I feel lost. Can someone please help me?" Dexter inquired. He was finding it difficult to understand because he knew how mind his Father adored Kelly.

 He oftentimes treats Kelly like his biological bother. But on that day, Dexter witnessed his Father unleash his inner beast on Kelly, something that hasn't been done before. 

As much as Dexter was eager to see Kelly leave, he was also interested to know every detail of his father's outburst towards Kelly. 

"Just when I thought we were done arguing over the previous issue, you had to start with another," George fumed, ignoring doctor Escobar's earlier warning about him yelling, hence endangering his heart. 

Dexter couldn't ask more questions anymore. Rather, he stayed quiet to observe these two. He had the feeling that his Father was going to spill it out. 

"Sometimes I do wonder if you're my friend," George smirked. 

"Of course I am still your friend, and you know that. We both, I would never do anything to hurt you," Kelly defended him. That was the only time he could speak up for himself without being shaky. 

"If you're truly my friend, then why did you lie to me? Real friends don't tell lies against each other, but you did. How am I supposed to believe anything you say now?" Like a cop, Kelly was interrogated in the presence of everyone. 

"That's because I was trying to protect you. I wouldn't want you to get hurt," Kelly explained. He was already becoming emotional by every minutes that go by. The tone of his voice already suggest that. 

"Please leave, Kelly. 

I want to be left alone with my son and doctor," George ordered. It didn't take him minutes to come up with the decision. He didn't for once considered how detrimental his decision was to their friendship. 

"Are you actually kicking me out, or you're just kidding? I want you to think about it before you decide," Kelly laid back. He still wasn't convinced that George would do that to him. 

"Still in doubt? 

I can call the security to kick you out. 

If it wasn't for my health issues, I would have done that myself. I hope that was enough to convince you?"
