Marriage Conflicts

After spending ten minutes in the bathroom, Romeo stepped outside. At that time, he had already convinced himself that Nancy had gone for good. 

It was worse than a near-death experience for Romeo. He knew the wife he married and decided to act smart. He hadn't told her yet, and she was already acting like she would set the house ablaze. He can't imagine what will happen when he eventually does. 

"I just hope I can keep up with this lie for the next 6 months until I get my job back," Romeo prayed. He did a cross sign and went back to bed. 

The suspension at the station was somehow becoming a blessing in disguise for Romeo because he couldn't call the last time he had that long sleep. Let alone staying at home that long before. 

It wasn't too long when Romeo went to sleep, and he was already hearing some footsteps in his dream. He thought it was all a dream until he heard someone call his name. "Romeo!" 

The voice sounded like Nancy's. Instantly, Romeo tossed off the bed as fear gripped him. He wasn't expecting his wife to come back home. He thought he had escaped her drama already. 

Her voice got louder by the second. It was a sign that she was approaching the bedroom. 

Not knowing what to do, Romeo rushed to take cover inside the wardrobe and locked the door. He wasn't bothered if he might suffocate to death due to heat. 

A few minutes into the hideout, Romeo was already having a second guess. "Why on Earth am I hiding? This isn't right. This will make her believe that something is wrong. Besides, I don't even know why she is calling," 

After that thought, Romeo came out of his hideout sweating profusely. He barely hid there for three minutes, and he was already looking like he got drenched by the turbulent, heavy downpour. 

"Why are you sweaty? 

And what were you doing inside the wardrobe?" Nancy asked the moment Romeo stepped out. He wasn't even aware that she had already entered the room because he didn't hear her footsteps. 

"What else does it look like? Of course, I just had my bathing, and I want to fetch my uniform," Romeo lied. It was the only thing he could think of. It would have been better if Nancy didn't see him coming out of the wardrobe. 

Nancy laughed. "Is that so?" Then she proceeded to shut the door and hid the keys inside her clothes. 

"What's going on here? Are you trying to stop me from leaving? Why did you shut the door?" 

"You might want to start talking, Romeo. We both know you aren't heading to work. So I am going to ask you for the last time. Where are you heading to?" Nancy shouted. Her voice was louder than the thunderstorm.

She had been wanting to do this for a long time. The only reason she didn't yell at Romeo the first was the kids. Now she had finally taken them to school, she felt more comfortable doing whatever she liked, knowing that the kids wouldn't show up to disrupt her. 

Romeo was already seeing the situation as a lost battle. From the manner Nancy spoke, Romeo was already convinced that he stood no chance of going up against her. He won't be surprised to find out that she already has the station to inquire about his job. 

"Before you decide to cook up some crazy story for me, I've already called the station, and guess what they told me? You've been suspended for six months," Nancy revealed. She spoke the exact thing that was running through his mind.

"You did what?" He screamed. "How dare you do that behind me? Have you suddenly lost all respect for me?" 

"Respect? 

Do you dare stand in my face and speak about respect? Don't be silly, Romeo. You brought this upon yourself by disrespecting the code and ethics of the force. Now see where it has landed us. I do hope you're happy now?" Nancy cried. 

"Wait a minute! 

I need to understand something. I thought you never liked my job? Why the tears? Your prayers have been answered already. You should, Merry," Romeo clapped back at Nancy. 

Seeing Nancy acting this way stunned him. He would have doubted if anyone had told him that Nancy was going to react that way about his job.

"Oh, don't you dare rub it in my face? The fact remains that you disobeyed your Boss," She defended herself. 

"I see! 

Now that you know, can I have the keys now? I seriously need to step out" Romeo demanded. He stretches his hand to retrieve the keys from Nancy. 

He didn't plan for Nancy to find out In that manner. He was making plans to tell her at his own appointed time. Too bad she found out the hard way. 

Ironically, Romeo was glad that it had to happen the way it did. He just saved himself from a lengthy explanation. There's a probability that she might not believe him after the explanation. 

"I am not handing the keys to you unless you tell me where you are headed," She demanded. 

Romeo refused to speak further. Firstly, he quickly got dressed and ensured that everything was ready for him to step out. Then he proceeds to meet Nancy with fire in his eyes. "I need the keys now. I don't want to go to jail for doing something stupid," 

Upon hearing the threat from Romeo, Nancy became scared as she wasted no time to return the keys. 

That wasn't their first time fighting. But somehow, it turned out to be the worst. 

"Count yourself lucky for doing the right thing. What I would have done might need to be televised so the world would know how silly you are," Romeo grunted. He pushed Nancy away just to find his exit. 

Nancy sat on the bed asking herself where she got it all wrong. Romeo was no longer the man she married. 

A lot has changed about him within the last couple of hours. She saw him return home last night in a quite unusual manner. The only regret she had was not confronting Romeo because she thought it was normal.
