Natalie's POV

I snapped. “I want to leave. Where is my phone. Allow me to speak with him.”

I shouted, I knew I was causing a ruckus which I know isn't good for my image. But I need all those things. When did I lose it? I can afford it getting in the hands of the wrong person.

The answer they kept giving me was that he was in a meeting.

“They're not your staff,” a voice drawled behind me. I spun. He stood at the top of the stairs, one hand in his pocket, watching me.

He wore the same outfit, that means he hasn't gotten to his room yet.

“They're mine,” he continued, descending from the stairs slowly. “They answer to me, not you.”

I marched up to him, seething. I just feel like biting his skin off. “This is illegal. You took my things and you're keeping here. This is kidnapping and I could get you arrested.”

He didn't blink. He didn't seem surprised.

“You're free to leave,” he said calmly. But beneath that calm voice, I knew there was a storm that could unleash anytime. “But step out that door, and walk back into the arms of your mother…or worse.”

I didn't see that coming.

My words caught in my throat. I had been forming words in my head until I heard what he had to say. I didn't want to go back there. But I didn't want to be here either. With him. A stranger with all power despite being said he's on the verge of bankruptcy.

I locked myself away in the guest room that night. The next morning came like a flash the same way midnight did.

Surprisingly I was relaxed in the room, I felt the comfort I don't feel at home. That was money speaking on my side, except that I woke up frequently like I was in danger.

I had breakfast, alone, surrounded with rude maids. Although they didn't speak to me, I could feel it from their actions.

I had nothing to do, I couldn't watch television. What if I touched it and I have to pay dearly for it.

Most importantly I haven't seen my said husband all day.

That moment, just like answered prayers, the answer came to me.

“Sir needs his study clean by the time he comes back.”

I faded ignorance and nonchalance to what I had heard. But I knew that my eyes watched every movement of the maid that was instructed to clean sir's study.

Why am I suddenly attracted to his study?

I stood up after the maid disappeared and walked aimlessly in the same direction. She went through the hallway, while I went through the staircase.

We ended up at the same place, but instead of following her, I went into my room. I had my phone with me, exactly twenty minutes I stood up and exited the room.

My eyes were on a particular door at the end of the hallway. I crept down polished halls until I stopped at the door.

She should be done by now. I've found his study.

My hand reached for the knob of the door, I twisted it and it opened.

Wow! To my luck it was unlocked.

I stepped into it, and inside were rows of books. He seemed to be a maniac at reading. There was a table in the study. On the tables, laid several files.

I'm on a quest to find the identity of my husband and it feels exciting.

I took light steps towards the table, there was a seat pulled into the table. I started by detaching the chair from the table, then I took a seat on the chair.

That was relaxing and comforting.

I started my mission to uncover who he is by going through the folders on the desk. I've been searching but it seemed like everything was business related.

If I could get something relating to dad's deal with him, I might be able to save myself from him.

That intensified the fire in me, after going through several files, I saw this leather folder amidst other files. I picked it up with the same intention and I opened the pages.

On searching, something slipped out. It seemed to be a picture. It fell on the floor. I bend to pick it up, then my head hits something.

I picked up the pain and then started wincing. As I winced I turned over the picture.

And

It turned out to be a picture of me.

What?

Immediately, the picture slipped out of my hand and fell back on the floor.

I was left stunned for a few minutes before my mind told me to do more. I picked up the folder again and flipped through pages. Right at the middle page was my name encrypted on it.

'NATALIE BENNETT FULL BACKGROUND'

I didn't know what came over me, I just had to read through it to know what else this man knew about me. Who would invest so much time on someone who was sold to him?

My school records. Hospital visits. Even text message screenshots.

My breath caught, at the very end was a photo of me again.

The picture was blurry, but unmistakably me asleep in my bed.

This guy has gone crazy.

I dropped the file.

He's not the only crazy one now. He has turned me into a crazy person as well.

I just want to know more. What else does he know about him and what is he hiding?

The first place that came to my mind was the drawers attached to the table. The one I had hit my head with.

I pulled it open, and just like it had been waiting for me to come, I saw it.

I knew those files and papers are used for business related issues.

I started bringing out those papers, it got to a stage that I started counting all over again.

I counted up to 10 and then more. My jaw dropped.

He's not a broke Billionaire. At this rate, he's a trillionaire!

I just stepped into a beautiful world filled with lies with my trillionaire.

  • Married To The Broke Billionaire    Chapter 21-What's This Whole Drama Summing Up To?

Natalie's POVWhat's the worst decision of my life? Obviously not deciding to learn when I needed and had the passion, time and everything to. Like, why do I still find myself digging the wardrobe for more options, when I already have a whole lot out there already? The room's now a mess from the clothes I spewed all over the room. On the floor are clothes I find casual, not worthy of me and definitely not the Party. And right on the bed are dresses I picked out that I could choose from when I'm left with no other options.I keep digging and I see one or two I could choose from. My hands are literally aching from the whole stress. I guess I need to really stop now. I don't even know what the time would be. I just hope it's not too far gone. Because I have to clean up the rook in the best possible way I could before I get accused of being a mess and a pauper in this fancy home…not by the owner but by the employees. What an audacity right? But that's what I gotta live with. My goal no

  • Married To The Broke Billionaire    Chapter 20-It's Never The Same

Natalie's POVThe stare between the man and I was intense. My heart beats crazily within me as if I had this crazy idea that what is inside the box could actually be a bomb.Oh no. Get that ridiculous thought out of your head.I was about to give up, turning around to walk back into the house when he finally decided to speak up.“You can check it yourself. But I'm quite sure it's gonna sweep you off your feet.”The same his words fell on my ears, the same time my lips curled into a mocking smile. And I couldn't just control the laughter that rolled out of my mouth. It stings.I covered my mouth, squinting my eyes, I saluted,at the same time reaching out to the trolley.“My regards to your boss.”I turned seamlessly and walked back into where I came from. When the door closed behind me, I heard my breath coming down as a sigh of relief.Wow!!! Didn't know I had been holding a breath. I looked down at the box in the troller.I'm definitely curious to know what he's got in there. I mean

  • Married To The Broke Billionaire    Chapter 19- I'm Not A Stray

Natalie’s POV“What could that mean?” The words slipped out before I could stop them, soft, almost swallowed by the sun. But the man had already turned his gaze away, back to his silent watch as if I wasn’t even standing there.A better punishment. My pulse throbbed in my ears. The phrase coiled inside me like a snake, winding tighter, squeezing harder the more I thought about it.Punishment for what? For the dinner? For the wine? For daring to touch Wilfred? My throat tightened. Surely not. He wasn’t the kind of man to waste time on such trivialities. Was he? No—Wilfred was ice, calculation, control. Every move of his was deliberate. If he had wanted me destroyed last night, I would already be ashes. But he did already. He made me clean up his room. Would he even want to sleep there anymore? So mysterious that I can't even guess what he's thinking.I let my eyes drop to the maids. Three of them, their knees pre

  • Married To The Broke Billionaire    Chapter 18- Save It For Yourself

Natalie's POVI slipped into the blue floral gown I’d chosen—simple, above the knee, soft fabric brushing against my skin. No makeup. No elaborate styling. My hair was tugged into a neat ponytail, an effortless gesture that felt strangely liberating after last night’s humiliation. I slid into a pair of designed slippers and gave myself one final glance in the mirror.I refused to look back at what had happened. If Wilfred wanted to act as though I was beneath him, so be it. Today, I would carry myself as though nothing had shaken me.And I'll keep going so long he helps me get my father's company. It belongs to me and not my father's goddamn wife.Stepping out of the room, I expected to hear the faint shuffle of the maids or the hum of quiet chatter floating through the house. But the air was heavy. Still. No footsteps, no voices. Just silence echoing in the corridors.A frown creased my face. They had to be in the kitchen. Where else would they be this early?Well it's too early to g

  • Married To The Broke Billionaire    Chapter 17-A Night To Party

Natalie's POV I grunt as I drag my hand through my hair, tugging at the messy tangles that feel like they’ve been glued together by exhaustion. Every part of my body aches as though I’ve been dragged through gravel and back again. The room is too dark, thick shadows pressing in, giving me no clue where I am until the familiar scent of perfume crawls up my nostrils. My throat is dry, my lips cracked.I guess it's too early to wake up with these feelings I'm getting. My head is getting drowsy and the room is still dark. But I feel something like if I don't get up now, I might collapse on the bed due to hunger.I rub the sleep from my eyes with my palm and groan. It feels like I’ve been through hell. And maybe I have.I sat up on the bed, closed my eyes again. I was back to routine again. Everyone in the circle did. Some wake up early to exercise, some wake up early to go to their business but I wake up late to sit up on my bed and take a little nap before standing up to do any activit

Natalie's POV The moment Wilfred’s footsteps faded down the hall, I broke.No..no..no. I didn'tMy laughter tore out of me like I had been holding it in. It was louder than I meant it to be. It rattled around the balcony and back into my ears until I had to clutch the rail for balance. Gods, was that me all day? Acting, performing, wanting to please him? That's not like me..what made me do that?It seemed like the whole bottle of non-alcoholic wine I took was messing up with my brain the way it had never done.I pressed my hand against my mouth, trying to muffle the sound, but it only made me laugh harder. My body shook, my chest hurt, but for the first time since morning, I felt alive. My eyes darted under the table. Two bottles. I’d hidden them earlier, in case Wilfred’s taste for wine stretched longer than mine. Only two left now. I knelt clumsily, fingers curling around the bottle that had been meant for him. The one I had prepared. My grin widened. What went into my head? Did I
