22. Little bites

My heart pounded in my chest as I looked around for a towel to wrap around myself.

After wrapping a towel around myself, I exhaled before folding my arms around my chest.

Adrian was still standing at the door, staring at me with a blank facial expression.

Could I blame him for not looking away or not apologizing for coming in without knocking or asking for my permission? I was so pissed at him but at the same time, I knew I couldn't be pissed. He is my husband but that doesn't give him the right to barge into the room without knocking.

"What do you want?" I asked.

I watch as he swallowed the lump in his throat while rubbing the back of his neck.

Did I just see Adrian nervous? I thought to myself but before I could decipher it was all gone.

Adrian cleared his throat. "I came to ask you if you saw any files on the nightstand two nights ago?" He asked.

"Some files? Yes. I did take them from the nightstand. I kept them for you," I told him and he nodded his head.
