12. Eat and Drink. The Lawyer

Marcus entered. Of course, Michael had instructed him to do so, and Alda bore witness to it. Finally, Alda had peace of mind about Michael. "He is not so bad after all," she thought. "I can cope with him for the duration of the contract," she thought again.

Just as Michael had instructed, she followed slowly behind Marcus, who was now leading her towards the big dining room. Such a place Alda had never seen before.

"Why is the table so big?" she asked as her eyes widened at its beauty, and she let her fingers down onto the table, feeling the texture of its worth.

"These are so expensive! My sisters would be inclined to believe this kind of dining exists at all in the world," she said.

But to every one of her questions and statements, Marcus did not answer. As for him, he must keep the instructions from the master, and whatever Alda said, he must not respond to.
