Roseline's POV

The clock was about to hit 12 but the birthday boy was still in his study and I was not sure if he would come out before 12 or not because he has the habit of working till midnight.

There were only 5 minutes left when I heard the clicking sound of his study's door. I quickly grabbed a book lying nearby and started pretending to read, attempting to act casual even though my heart was racing.

I don't know why I did that when I was actually waiting for the clock to hit 12 so that I could wish him and give him the gift that I bought from the market. I am still not sure if he would like it or not.

I had spent a long time contemplating the perfect present, but now I was plagued with doubt, fearing that it might be too childish.

He went straight to the bathroom without saying a word, and I let out a long breath, relieved that he hadn't noticed my nervous behavior.
