Sophia’s POV

Morano Mansion – 11:59 PM

Voom!!!

The sound of a car pulling into the parking lot pierced the thick silence of the mansion. I jumped slightly, startled even though I had been expecting it. My fingers gripped the edge of the throw pillow I’d been clutching for hours now, nerves buzzing through me like a silent alarm.

“Is Leonard back?” I whispered to myself, heart pounding.

The mansion had felt like a cage all evening. I had been pacing the sitting room restlessly, battling with my thoughts, going over a conversation in my mind that I still hadn’t mustered the courage to have. I needed to leave the mansion, even if just briefly. But with Leonard, I knew better than to do it without telling him. Without asking.

As the front door creaked, I peered through the hallway window. A frown formed on my face immediately. Massimo—Leonard’s trusted man—was helping him out of the car. Or more like dragging him, with Leonard’s arm slung heavily over his shoulder. Leonard looked limp, he

HOSPITAL – 1:03 A.M. The fluorescent lights of Room 601 flickered faintly overhead, casting a sterile glow over the quiet hospital ward. The walls were painted a pale, institutional white—too clean, too silent, too cold. Ava stirred, her wrists sore from the ropes. Panic was still tightening her chest even after the intruders had vanished. She winced as she slowly sat up, her arms trembling. “Ava, are you okay?” Martin’s voice broke through the silence, raw and filled with guilt. He had just finished untying himself and rushed over to her side. As he knelt, working to loosen the knot around her wrists, Ava flinched away, her voice sharp and suspicious. “Who were those people?” Her eyes were wide, brimming with unspoken fear. Martin paused. “I don’t know,” he lied. His fingers fumbled. Ava narrowed her gaze. “Did you borrow money from loan sharks? Is that why they came?” Martin’s mouth opened, but no sound came out. His silence deepened her suspicion. Her breath caught in

MORANO MANSION – 12:09 PM“You’re too damn heavy,” Logan muttered through clenched teeth, dragging Massimo’s limp form down the hallway. His back ached. Sweat slid down his temples, not from the physical effort alone but from the frustration boiling inside him.Massimo’s arm dangled around Logan’s neck, his head lolling forward, dark hair falling over his eyes. He stumbled every few steps, feet barely lifting from the floor, his body swaying with the weight of apparent intoxication.“Can you just—stand up straight?” Logan growled, adjusting his grip as Massimo nearly tripped again. “I swear to God, if you throw up on me—”He reached the bedroom, shoved the door open with his foot, and half-dragged, half-hauled Massimo inside. The man collapsed onto the mattress like a rag doll, rolling to one side with a groan. His shirt was already unbuttoned, revealing a sheen of sweat on his chest. He rubbed at it slowly, almost sensually, as if something inside him was burning.Logan stood at the

ABANDONED HOUSE – 10:02 PMThe cracked wooden floor creaked under Thelma’s heels as she paced across the dust-ridden room of the long-abandoned house. Her lips twitched in frustration. “Where the fuck is she?” she muttered for the third time, brushing her disheveled hair out of her face. Her eyes darted to the cracked window, squinting through the faint moonlight and flickering streetlamp casting eerie shadows through the fog.Inside the room, a dim bulb hung from the ceiling, swinging faintly, its light barely enough to illuminate the gloom. In the center of the room were Ava and Martin—Sophia’s parents—tied to metal chairs. Their hands bound tightly behind them, eyes covered with thick blindfolds. Their lips trembled with every passing minute.“What’s going on here?!” Ava’s voice cracked as she tried to wriggle free, her blindfold damp with tears.“Please,” Martin added hoarsely. “Let us go. We don’t know what this is about.”“Honey, are you okay?” Martin asked, trying to keep calm

SWISS BAR — 9:33 PM“Cheers!” voices chorused above the throbbing pulse of the bass-heavy music. The clash of glasses resounded beneath the dim, ruby-red lights as laughter erupted from a far booth in the corner of Swiss Bar.Logan raised his glass halfway with a smirk, seated amid the noisy group. Luca, perched beside him, had a girl in a silver crop top draped over his shoulder, lazily twirling her hair as she whispered something into his ear. Across from them sat two other boys, laughing with their arms around scantily clad girls who giggled and sipped colorful drinks.“Hey man, you haven’t been hanging out with us lately,” Luca said as he elbowed Logan lightly.Logan took a long sip from his drink before replying, “Oh, I’ve got a lot on my plate lately.”“Or maybe your papa tied your legs,” Luca mocked, rolling his eyes. The others at the table burst into laughter, but Logan’s expression changed instantly—his brows furrowed, and the glint in his eyes darkened.“Stop it,” Logan bar

SOPHIA'S POV MORANO MANSION – 8:47 AM “Ah!” I groaned as I stirred from sleep, the sharp rays of the morning sun cutting through the sheer white curtains, piercing my eyes. My head throbbed as if I had danced all night at a noisy festival—or gotten punched repeatedly in a boxing ring. The pain was dull yet persistent, echoing like a drumbeat in my skull. Raising my hand to my forehead, I sat up slowly, clutching the sheets. Why does my head feel like this? I tried to recollect, but my thoughts were a blur until Grace’s voice drew me back to the present. “Good morning, ma,” she said, her footsteps light as she walked into the room holding a silver tray. A gentle aroma of tea wafted into the air. “Good morning, Grace,” I replied, rubbing my eyes as she approached the bed. “Here is your tea,” she said softly, placing it on the nightstand. “Thanks,” I murmured, offering a faint smile. She turned toward the door. “Breakfast is ready. You should get dressed and come downstairs befo
