Rosalia

We drove for almost two hours until we finally entered a community which I had no idea existed in the city. I could see a silver gate from afar and it was opened before our car even got there. We drove through the gate and the car stopped shortly. I stepped out of the car and watched as several other men in black surrounded us. I secretly wonder if they were training reinforcement for the country or something.

Damien glanced at me. I still remember the way he had said his name like he was hurt I forgot his name at all. But I didn't even know him which caused the dilemma I'm currently in. Did I actually know him or was he taking me for someone else. The latter seems to be the answer.

"Come on, let's go inside" I nodded obediently and followed him as he walked through the stone paved pathway while the guards all stayed behind. The pathway was quite long but it was beautiful so I had a great time looking around. I hadn't even realised he had stopped until I bumped into his back.

"I'm sorry" He only nodded and opened the door. I could hear hurried footsteps then an excited childish voice followed.

"Daddy, did you find Mommy? Did she finish her Vacation yet?" I could see Damien bent to pick up the child and I peered from behind him to get a glimpse of her. At the same time, the girl seemed to have the same thought and our eyes met. Same bright blue ones which knocked the air out of my lungs. Why the hell does this child look like a copy of me???????????

She stared at me for a long time then slowly recognition crossed her face as she threw her hands up like she wanted me to lift her from her Father's embrace. I couldn't move though, I just stared at her and wondered why she looked so much like I could have birthed her.

"Daddy" She turned to Damien when I didn't move to carry her "Mommy doesn't want Maria" She said it without sadness though. Like she had learnt to live with it, which wasn't a good thing. She didn't look like she was five yet but she sounded too mature for her age.

Damien gave her a gentle smile "Of course not, Mommy is just tired from the Vacation and needs to rest, you can see her tomorrow"

She tilted her head "But what if she goes on another Vacation tomorrow and I can't see her when I wake up?" I wondered what had happened before to make her assume her Mommy was going to disappear. Damien had been like that too. I was too confused and overwhelmed to think straight. I could only watch both of them in silence.

Damien turned to me then frowned before looking back at the little girl "She won't, I'll make sure of it" He tossed her hair which made her giggle.

"Now be a good girl and go to sleep so you can see Mommy tomorrow when you wake up" The girl excitedly nodded then glanced at me briefly with a toothy grin before running off to probably her room.

Damien turned to me "You don't even remember her? Your condition is worse than I thought" He sighed and started heading in the same direction the girl had gone. I couldn't help but go after him. I had lots of questions to ask but I swallowed it and decided to leave it for tomorrow. Everyone was tired already.

"So, uhmm...." I cleared my throat. He stopped on his tracks and glanced at me.

"Hmm?"

"Where am I going to sleep?" I really need to sleep soon or my head will burst from all the overwhelming thoughts in it.

"You should have dinner first, you haven't had anything all day except the stupid sandwich you had in the morning" I should ask him how he knew that but I remembered they had been stalking me all day.

Instead, I asked "Since when have you been tailing me?"

Damien moved closer and grabbed my hand then started pulling me to where I recognised as the kitchen. He sat me down on the stool and went to the cooking area. My eyes widened when I realised he was going to make me dinner. No one had ever done that for me.

"We found you about a year ago and since then I've had my men follow you everywhere. You lack self awareness but it's not a problem since my Men were always there to remove the pests" He replied as he tore open a packet of spaghetti and threw it in the pot which contains hot water.

"A whole year? If I was in that much danger and I was really your wife, how come you didn't come get me?" He stopped and sent me a glare before replying. "You are my wife"

"Okay, since I'm your wife, why didn't you come get me?" If I had a rich husband all along, why do I need to suffer in the past two years for nothing? I had been looking for jobs and worrying about paying my rent for absolutely nothing!

"I couldn't figure out if you being out there was safer for you or being here. I might still be thinking about it if not for Maria. She needed you" He didn't look at me when he gave the reply and I was left trying to understand what he meant. We were silent after that and the only sound that could be heard was him moving around in the kitchen, making dinner.

So, a strange man who I'm almost at the edge of believing was my husband was making dinner for me and a little girl who looks like my copy was somewhere upstairs in her room, sleeping. Indeed, it seemed I belonged to this family but at the same time, how come? How come I don't remember them at all?

A plate suddenly came into my view and I could smell the delicious aroma even before the meal came into view.

"Here, have your dinner and go to sleep. We'll talk tomorrow when you are well rested." Damien says as he took the seat opposite me and started digging into his meal. I did the same.

With the first taste of the spaghetti, a strange sense of familiarity hit me. I could tell I've had this before. I lifted my head to ask Damien about it and realised he was already looking at me.

But before I could say anything, he spoke. "Eat your food quietly and go to sleep" Then continued eating. I couldn't help but do as he said since he wasn't willing to talk. I followed him to the sink to drop the dishes which he started washing while I could only watch him.

I couldn't believe this man who seemed dangerous in one minute and domestic in the next was actually my husband. Where did I pull him from?

Damien I watched my brother in law who was casually occupying the couch in my office. I contemplated the best way to break the bad news to him without hurting him. That in itself was already an odd notion, considering I don't care about anyone's feelings unless they are either my wife or daughter. "Out with it, Genovese" His tone was laced with boredom but I could still detect the slightest apprehension he was trying to hide underneath it. I guess he could also tell the reason I could call him privately into my home office was to break bad news to him."Chester seems to have found evidence leading to you not being dead and he's looking everywhere for you" I informed him, watching the slight twitch of his brows. I would have missed it if I wasn't looking at him closely. "So what do you need me to do?"I stared at him. I wish it never came to this. I know clearly how hurt my wife would be after this decision but it's the best I could come up with to counter this situation we are in.

DamienThe moment her eyes met the blood dripping from my wrist, I knew I had made the right choice. Of course, I wasn't crazy enough to tell her I purposefully slit my arm enough to draw blood, so she could see I was hurt and forgive me. It's a form of manipulation, I know that. But I'll gladly do anything if it meant she was going to forgive me faster and not subject me to silent treatment. I had once been subjected to her Silent treatment and it was a horrible experience which I never want to relieve in my life. Nico and Rob had called me crazy when they saw me inflicting an injury on myself just to get my wife's mercy. They really don't know what it's like to have a wife who has your whole heart in her hands. If only they knew I'd rather bear the pain of being cut than her silent treatment. Only Jamie understood me. "Why are you injured?" She asked, her eyes coming to meet mine and I could see the panic in them. I immediately felt guilty for worrying her again and almost spill

Damien It was around an hour after we blew up the truck when I received a call from Mikhail, asking me to come to Chicago immediately. I could hear the urgency in his voice so I immediately left with Rob, Jamie and Nico. I instructed Reed, Christian and Diego to stay behind to guard the estate with the men under them before leaving. I didn't want to take any chances. As soon as we landed in Chicago, we headed straight for the Bratva's biggest club, Rus, where Mikhail had wanted to meet. The club was in full rage as expected when we got there and we were led to in by one of the securities outside. I don't often visit clubs because I don't like the noise, the smell of liquor, sweats and expensive perfumes in the air. Everything mixes together to create a disgusting combination which I don't like. I'll ever be there for business and it had to be important even, like now.The security guard led us through many corridors in the club before we finally got to a section completely differen

  • Married to the Maniac Don    Chapter 72

Serena I was watching a TV show with Maria, when I saw Damien climbing down the stairs. I knew tonight was the big day and I was so nervous, as well as scared for the people I've come to like in the New York family. It was the last peaceful night before the war officially broke out. Rob and Nico had already gone to snatch the ammunition truck about an hour ago and Damien had to be somewhere too. In order not to drown in fear, I decided to have a girls night with Mia and Sienna. Yes, Sienna would be coming all the way from Chicago because her husband was also going to be busy. We three decided to stay together with the kids. It would be a good safety measure too. Damien got to the living room and leaned over us, giving both Maria and I kisses on our foreheads. "Dada, bye bye" Maria says as she waved at him. He returned her wave with a smile. Then his eyes met mine. "I'll be fine, don't worry. If we need your help at some point, I'll call you" He says but I still wasn't reassured.

DamienChester had taken the first step to provoke us. He burned one of my warehouses. Though, the warehouse didn't house many things of value that could bring me losses, but it was still mine and he dared to touch it. I've gathered the men to the meeting room and currently we are discussing what to do next. The men in the room are the ones I knew I could trust with my life because we didn't want anything to go awry as a result of oversight. With Reed; my Underboss, Jamie; the Consigliere, Rob; one of my Capos, the one in charge of dispatching the soldati, Nico; my personal secretary/ enforcer, Diego; another of my capos who runs the chains of clubs and the new addition to the team, my lovely wife, Serena, our computer genius. I always knew she was more than she ever thought she was but only had no idea what she could do. The past month had been proof of it and I know it's only the beginning. I was surprised none of the men in the room appeared to mind her presence since we've ne

  • Married to the Maniac Don    Chapter 70

Serena I took my seat and got comfortable on the couch before taking my cellphone and placing a call to Chester. It had taken me a while to decide when I was going to call him. So now, before dinner, I decided to call him since I wanted no reason to puke my dinner if he would say something disgusting. Damien was sitting opposite me with his head buried in his laptop. He must have other things to do but he decided to accompany me here just in case I needed him. My husband is very thoughtful and it makes me sometimes wonder what good I did In my past life to deserve him. I wonder if all the lack of love I grew up with was because I was going to have someone who would love me as much as he did in the future. If it's indeed because of it that my childhood was the day it was, then it was worth it. As if knowing I was looking at him, which I'm sure he noticed because he noticed everything, he looked up and gave me a smile. Of course, Chester took that moment to pick the call. Damn him!
