003 Two Nuisance

POV JEANNE

"Miss Hart, our Boss will come in one hour for a meeting. I have to quickly prepare a room for him right now. So, could you please look after the bar for me?"

"Ah, okay, Mr. Mason,” I said while smiling at my manager.

I saw my manager who immediately ran to one of the doors of the bar while picking up his ringing cell phone. It was a meeting room and according to the bar's rules, only the manager could enter there.

I sighed and continued wiping the cocktail glasses in front of me even though I'm quite curious about that.

Not long after, suddenly the bar doorbell rang. I immediately walked towards the entrance door to greet customers.

"Welcome to —"

"Oh, isn't this the esteemed lady of the Hart family??"

That sound, I immediately widened my eyes. For a moment my body froze and my hands clenched into fists. I straightened my body and saw the two creatures I hated the most — Adam Moss and Lily Hayes.

Damn it, why did they come here? I thought about cursing my bad luck. However, I have to remain professional.

"W-Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. Have you both made reservations?" I said while trying to smile as kindly as I could.

I saw Adam smiling mockingly. He then sat on one of the bar stools with Lily beside him.

"Oh wow, isn't this an amazing downgrade? Someone who was once a high-class woman, has now fallen into a lowly servant," Adam said while laughing mockingly at me.

"Oh dear, I think the barmaid outfit suits her," I saw Lily reply to Adam's words and laughed too.

I ignore the words of the two savages in front of me. Hold on Jeanne Hart, don't cause a scene that will only make things more difficult for you, I said to myself.

I tried to smile as friendly as possible and said, "Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen, our bar only accepts reservation customers. Have you made a reservation beforehand?"

"..."

"Please make a reservation first by contacting our manager," I said while handing him the company business card.

I saw the annoyed look on Adam's face and looked at me with a low gaze. He then took a card out of his wallet and threw it in my face.

"I bought all the alcohol in this bar along with yourself," he said.

I held back my anger and with a forced smile I said, "I apologize for the inconvenience, dear customers, it is the bar's regulation to only accept reservation customers and we don't sell any prostitutes …"

“…”

“… or accept the sale of a bitch," I continued while smiling faintly and glancing at Lily.

"This damn bitch .…"

I looked at Lily who looked annoyed. The next second he threw a few dollars at my face.

"You need more?"

My eyes twitched along with my desire to punch these two people in the face was hard to contain. But, I try to stay calm.

Then, I took a deep breath and said, "Thank you for the tip, but I apologize that it is our bar's rule to only accept reservation customers."

"..."

"Please, contact our manager and make a reservation first."

I bowed again. If it wasn't during my working hours I would make sure I would reply to every insult they made, that's my thought.

However, I was too naive to think that an explanation and apology would be enough to make them understand. Suddenly, I felt the coil of my hair being grabbed and I felt a hard slap on my right cheek.

SLAP

"Hahaha, look at this bitch. Even she's not at all —"

SLAP

My patience had run out and this time I returned Lily's slap. I smiled with satisfaction on my face when I saw how the laughter of the two stopped.

"Ah, pardon me. I think I saw a fly on your cheek, Miss. So I was just trying to help you kill it," I said while grinning.

In the next second, I immediately brought my face closer to Lily's ear and said, "But you know? Your face looks more like a fly, so it deserves to be beaten up."

"You ... call your manager now!"

Adam's voice sounded furious and I immediately turned to him with a smile. I saw his face red with veins protruding.

I distanced myself from Lily's face and put on my friendly smile again, then said, "Forgive me, dear customer, I can't call our manager right now because he's on important business …”

“… then please, come over again with a reservation and have a nice day,” I said politely while bowing.

I purposely hid my satisfied smile as I bowed to my professionalism. I thought the problem was over, but when I straightened up, I got a slap again.

SLAP

I wiped the blood at the corner of my lips and then I looked at Adam's face. The man in front of me still seemed angry.

Then I put a satisfied smile behind my friendly smile and said, "Please contact our manager and come back later with your reservation..."

After that, I brought my face closer to Adam's ear and whispered, "Next time please don't bring in a fly with you guys."

When I wanted to move my body away, suddenly I felt pushed and fell.

"Ouch!" I groaned in pain.

Before I could realize the situation, I felt my body being pushed again onto my back and my hands were locked up. I saw Lily sitting on my stomach with a broken glass in her hand.

“This damn bitch … Why did you not end up in the street? You should be a worthless homeless by now, instead of working at a prestigious bar.”

"What the …." I couldn't continue what I was saying, because pain suddenly attacked the back of my head.

"I've done everything to bring you down and crush you. Even when I managed to make you fall, why didn't you die?! Why?!"

I chuckled mockingly and said, "Are you crazy? How can a fly want to beat a human?"

I saw Lily's gaze turn sharp as she shouted at me, "No! You're the crazy one! You damn bitch!"

Afterward, I saw Lily directing the broken glass towards my face. I was shocked by Lily's actions and just closed my eyes.

"Enough!"

A deep voice that sounded strange in my ears. Then I immediately opened my eyes and saw the figure of a man standing in the doorway.

The man rushed towards me and held Lily who was holding the broken glass. He yanks her from my body and pulls me into his arms.

"Are you okay?" He asked with a stern voice.

Our eyes met and even though it couldn't be seen clearly, his sky-blue eyes seemed to bewitch me for a moment.

Then I smiled in relief. At least I'm safe, I thought.

"Thank ... you," I said and those were my last words before I finally lost consciousness.
