004 My Savior

POV JEANNE

"Where am I?"

I tried to get up, even though the pain in my head was getting worse. However, suddenly a hand held me up.

"You are in Hospital right now. You should rest more," a man's voice said right beside me.

I just realized that there were other people around me and immediately turned to the source of the sound. The voice sounded like deja vu for me.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"Leo, you can call me that," the man said in a cold tone.

Then I frowned. Actually what I asked was not his name, more about who he was and whether I had seen him before. But it's also good to know his name.

"Leo? That's the cool name," I said while smiling at him.

He just stared at me with a cold glare. The pair of his blue-sky eyes suddenly makes my memory go into flashback. Ah, he's that guy, I thought.

"Ah, I remember. You're the man who saved me before ..."

"..."

"It's nice to know the name of my savior and oh, I'm Jeanne Hart. You can call me Jeanne," I said with a friendly smile.

I saw Leo didn't answer. He still looked at me so sharply and coldly that it made me nervous.

But the next second I saw him look away while clearing his throat and saying, "I just don't want there to be a riot in my bar."

So he's the boss that my manager meant, I thought again.

"I'm so sorry for being rude, Boss," I said with great regret, but he just mumbled with no expression.

I secretly looked at the part of his face from my side. Short blonde hair, sky blue eyes, sharp nose, thin red lips, firm jaw. Handsome — that's the only word I can think of about him.

If only I had met him before I lost everything, I would have had the confidence to say that I was interested in him.

"What?" Leo's voice suddenly surprised me.

"Huh?" I replied while raising an eyebrow.

"You stare at my face since earlier. Is there something wrong?" he asked.

Hearing that question, I fell silent and suddenly I felt my face heat up. How could I be caught looking at a man's face secretly?

I cleared my throat softly and said, "N-No. I was just thinking about something."

"I see," Leo replied to me briefly and coldly.

I was a little lucky that the guy next to me seemed to have little interest in expressions and speaking. So I don't need to bother thinking about the next answer if he asks more.

Suddenly I remembered those two bastards and it made me change instantly. I tried to control my emotions.

"Those people, I have handed them over to the police."

"..."

"So you don't have to worry about that," Leo said.

That's amazed me. How did he get such accurate guessing? I thought.

I cannot deny that there was a feeling of joy when I heard this statement. But at the same time, I felt a bit of dissatisfaction because there are a lot of things that are still unfinished between us.

Then I closed my eyes while taking a deep breath and then said, "Can you withdraw the report?"

"Why?"

I was silent while looking down. Thinking that they got karma so easily. That makes me feel like it's not fair.

"I'm sorry for my selfishness and I'm very grateful for what you did to them. But ..."

Then I raised my face while smiling at Leo and said again, "I have personal matters that I need to settle with them. So, I beg you to withdraw the report."

I saw Leo looking at me in surprise for a moment. However, the next second his expression returned flat, and looked at me coldly again.

"I understand. I will withdraw the report, but I will blacklist their names from my bar to prevent any trouble from happening again," Leo said and sigh.

"Thank you for the understanding, Boss," I said.

I smiled with relief when I heard my boss's words. Although his expression was cold and sharp, I guess he was not a cruel person.

"Then, I will give you three days off. Use it to rest and recover," Leo said and then stood up from his seat.

I just kept quiet and watched him walk towards the door. He then stopped right in the doorway.

"Good night," he said and then walked away.

I frowned when I heard my boss say good night. I thought he was going to say something important again, but it turned out to be just a good night.

"How weird," I muttered while staring at the ceiling.

A few days passed and I returned to work. Now the bar's employees were not just me and my manager, but there were some newly hired employees — one woman and two men — and the Boss had also hired two bodyguards to anticipate the same incident like what happened to me before.

"Hey, Jeanne ... What do you think of our manager? Isn't he the best-handsome guy here?" whispered a woman beside me.

She is Lara Hilton, an employee who was hired two days ago. She is three years younger than me. She has a cheerful and also easy-going character.

"Well, maybe," I said a little hesitantly.

"You're such a boring person. You really have no taste in handsome men," Lara said as she nudged my arm.

I laughed softly when I heard that. After all, she had never met our Boss, so it was only natural that she thought our manager was the most handsome man here.

"You know that every woman has a different ideal type of man," I said.

"Hey, speaking of men, have you downloaded that dating app I suggested yesterday?"

I paused and looked at Lara with an awkward smile. I did d******d it, but I wasn't that interested so I ignored the few messages that came in.

"Let me guess ... you haven't downloaded it, have you?" Lara asked and her face looked at me with a frown.

I laughed softly and said, "I have. But I wasn't really interested, so I ignored the messages."

"Oh, come on, Jeanne ... you look more like a nun, you know?"

"Well, you're not the first person to say that," I replied.

"Well ... you only live once, so make your life more colorful," Lara said again in a voice that sounded annoyed.

"Everyone has their own way to enjoy their life," I replied and I saw Lara let out a resigned sigh.

"Alright, whatever. I've given up on you. Even though you received a lot of messages from a lot of men there, it's really unfortunate."

I chuckled when I heard Lara's words and then replied, "No. Those messages were only from a man. He even sent a lot of gift stickers to my account, but I don't know what for."

"Huh? Really? Can you show it to me?" Lara said with great enthusiasm.

Then, I gave her my phone and showed her the profile of the guy who sent me a lot of messages and gifts on the dating app.

"You're crazy! You got a big fish you know! And his name here is Mr. Lion? I have never seen him in this app before, maybe he is a new member," Lara yelled at me as she handed me back my phone.

I frowned as I didn't understand what Lara meant and replied, "I don't understand what you mean."

"You know what?! He spent about five million dollars to give you those gifts and you can even exchange them for real money!"

I was quite surprised when I heard the amount of gifts I got. I was only able to make more than 50 million dollars per month. In my opinion, spending 5 million dollars just to have fun on an app like this is too much.

"Jeanne, I think you should respond. He sends you a lot of gifts and messages that you don't even read," Lara said again.

I paused for a moment and considered. I looked at the profile picture of the man who sent me a lot of messages.

I was actually quite curious about this mysterious man, because he only put up a profile picture that showed his mouth down and his athletic body.

Then I took a deep breath while smiling and said, "I think you're right. Thank you.”
