"I know Alex very well Lucy. His mother used to be my good friend. When the tragic incident occurred, I left this city and came back only few years later. I'm just so surprised he's the one you got married to" Mrs. Hayes' words resounded clearly in Lucy's mind as she stood by the roadside for a cab

Her words got her thinking. Because it didn't sound so clear to her. Her reaction tells something more than what she told her. She couldn’t have possibly acted that way simply because Alex is her good friend's son, right?
