Chapter 29

I stood up and fixed myself. I, at least, put some lip tint and add some powder on my face before going out. I saw Gavin looking impatient but still leaning at my door frame.

“I already said that you looked at least human. What’s with that?”

“It’s called lip tint and face powder. To at least make a human presentable.” Duh.

He just ‘tsked’. I ignored him and snatched my bag sitting in my swivel chair. I hurried towards Gavin. He looked at me from head to toe before turning around.

Haa. This bastard.

I was about to follow him when I remembered something.

“Assassins.”

I whispered but I think Gavin heard it because he stopped walking. He just stood there without moving.

“What if there’s another attempt?”

I said, trying to be calm. I can’t get anxious. I’m not the one who’s going to be the target anyway. I kept my eyes towards the floor.

“Are you scared?”

I raised my head to face him when I saw Gavin’s shoes in front of me. He was staring at me with his deep and watchful eyes. S
