' Sweetie always remember that mommy will always love you'
'Of course mommy, I know that you love me and I love you so much very much'
'Mommy loves you the most'
'I love you the most too mommy!'
' Madison, be a good girl. You can do it, right?'
'Of course mommy. Madison will do her best to be a good girl'
' That’s my sweetie'
'Wait mommy where are you going?'
'I will leave you'
'Mommy?'
'You are a good girl, right? You can live without mommy right?'
'No mommy! What are you talking about?'
'I love you sweetie'
'Mommy no! Don't leave me, mommy! Wait!'
The sound of the alarm clock echoed all over the room which is the reason why I woke up from the dream. I wiped my eyes only to find a sticky area down to my cheeks that is attached to my face.
Did I cried again?
To my surprise, the door opened revealing a servant. She is wearing a maid's outfit. Is she one of the people who work in this house?
“My lady, you are already awake. Would you like to take a bath or a shower?”
Just as I thought, she’s a servant. "I would like to take a warm shower'"Very well, I shall ready the bathroom"
I nodded in response and just look at her. Walking her way to the closet, she revealed a small bag gown and a dress who is placed on the cabinet. So she did ready the things that I will use beforehand. I didn’t bother looking at her and just let myself wipe the dried tears on my face. That dream... I wonder why I had that dream again. I also wonder why I never cried when I was awake. It would be good to see myself crying.
The last time I cried was ages ago. The very first time that my mother cried because of my father.
It was a cold night for it is snowing outside. I can clearly remember how my father pour the cold water into the fireplace.' You never listen to me. You act as if you know everything. Now let's see what you can do if you’re left alone in this cold room on such a cold winter night' The door shut close as my father locked the room. My mother was still inside, she was left in that cold place.'Marriano opened the door!'
' You deserve it Miranda'
I can hear how the loud bang on the door echoed in the hallway. My father put the keys in his pocket, to not let anyone have the power to open that door.
' Father open the door' 'Shut up you brat'' Marriano you can't do this to me''Well then, I just did'
Holding a small brown teddy bear in my arms, it fell to the ground as soon as I ran towards the direction of where my mother is locked on. I can hear how she cried for she is right behind that door. 'Mom, are you alright?' I can hear how my mother sob in tears. How I hated my father for doing that to my mother. I don’t know what was the reason why they quarreled like that but the only thing that I am sure of is that my mother isn't happy about being inside that cold empty room.' Mom don’t worry I will get some help. I will beg Father to open the door’
' No sweetie don’t do it, he would just hurt you'
'But mom it is cold inside, there is no fire in it. I saw father pour something to make the fire run out. Also, it is very cold outside and even inside, it still is. You have no jacket with you, do you?'
My mother didn't answer for she doesn’t know what would be her response to me. The only thing that she wanted to do at this moment is to not let me get worried about her. I was just a small little kid that time, yeah I feel helpless. I feel as if I have no hands or feet to move on my own. It was the very day that I hated my father. He is nice, he is kind but then he sometimes does things that are beyond my understanding. 'Sweetie mommy is alright, you don’t have to worry.
'Mom you don’t have to say such things, stop lying I know you are.
I hold the door that is separating me from my mother. If I can only shatter this door, I would do it. But I have no power to do so. I am not a married child who knows anything but writes and sings…
That night, the only thing I did was to wait outside the door with my eyes crying nonstop. I feel so tired as if all the water in my body rushes out from my eyes. And that was the last day I ever cried, I saw how my mother act when I show her my swollen eyes. 'My lady, the bath is ready' I nodded my head as a response to the maid.Things have been so stressful lately. Maybe a good shower would be nice.
I let myself feel the warm water rushing down from my head, down to my feet.
It is indeed refreshing to take a shower first thing in the morning.
I wonder why I don’t feel uneasy sleeping and taking a bath in this house. I find it funny that I have no sense of danger in every place I go. Maybe that is because I don’t feel like my home is a home for me? Maybe that is why. After taking a shower, I went out and look at the closet. To my surprise, the dress that was hanging on there was gone. Looking at the bed, it was well tidied up. The dress was also lying on top of it. How nice of her. I look at the dress and you can still see the tag on it. I thought it was already used but to my surprise, it was a brand new dress. Did Gavin bought this for me? Well, I bet not.I think he is a guy who has many dresses in his mansion for he slept with many other women. My eyes narrowed as I saw a small note on the box that looks as if it was her phone.Dear Wife,
You have no other belongings with you, if I may say. So make good use of it.
-Your husband, GavinI can't help but let a scowl be seen on my face. He is a real flirt. Isn’t he?I wear the dress and went outside. I just comb my hair and didn’t put an ornament on it. I am a little grateful that he also offered me a comfortable pair of sandals. If not, my feet would bleed from wearing that heels.“My lady, the breakfast is now ready”“Sure” We are on our way to the dining hall. This place is indeed wide. Does he live here alone?
"Can I ask something?"
"Yes madam?""This place is truly... large. right?"The maid nodded her head. She was just leading me to the dinning area but we have been walking for a short while. With that said, this place is not a house but a mansion. Compared to our manor, you can truly see the different of our life to his. Just how rich is he?"Does he lives here alone?"
"Ah, you mean Master Gavin?""Yes"
Is there anyone living here other than him?"He barely went home... madam"Hmm, so she mean to say that, this big mansion doesn't even have a human who lives in it? How about the maids? Surely they live in here. Right?
"That is also why this mansion is always quiet. With Master not using the whole place, there are barely housechores that we maids can do"
"So you don't live in here?"
She shakes her head as an answer. Ah, how I hate my thoughts. I am always wrong.
"That room over there. Why does it have chains around it?"
"Um... Madam that room..." "That room? What?" You can see the hesitation in her face. As if she is thinking about whether she would answer my question or not. "That room is beyond your limits" I was so surprised to hear his voice. Especially when his tone sounds as if I said something that annoys him. "Gavin"It was a peaceful morning. People just came out of the church and went to their own businesses. “Sylv! Let’s go there!” “Slow down, princess! Sylv is carrying my child!” “C’mon, Jason, don’t be too over protective!” The pregnant woman, named Sylv just laughed as her eyes went to the beautiful lady at the flower shop. “My lady!” She exclaimed as she shove Princess’s hand away. She rushed toward the lady that she saw. “Thank you.” The beautiful lady in a beautiful dress said as she put the bouquet of flowers down. “My lady!” The beautiful lady looked at the person that called her. She beamed when she saw familiar faces getting near them. “Sylv. How are you? How’s the baby?” She asked as she gave them a teasing smile. The couple just blushed as they looked at each other. While Princess just grinned at them. “Ah! Are you alone, my lady?” Jason asked while looking around. The lady shook her head. She was about to answer when someone pulled the hem of her dress. “Mommy! Mom
AUTHOR’S POVAfter that night, Madison woke up because of the knock. Gavin moved a bit to not wake her up but she woke up anyways. Gavin opened the door and saw the head maid looking at him suspiciously as she peaked behind him to see if Madison is alright. The head maid sighed and glared at Gavin.“Don’t look at me like that, Nana Beatrice. I didn’t do anything to my wife.”He groaned. The head maid just sighed and pushed Gavin aside as she pushed a pushing cart containing foods inside.“Good morning, My lady.”“Hmm.”Madison stood up and went to the table with her eyes closed. “I already bought your clothes here so you can change here.”“Hmm.”“Also, your mother dropped by here with a lot of gifts for you.”“Hmm- huh?”Madison’s sleepy eyes went wide open as Gavin just raised both of his eyebrows and went inside the shower.“She was here?”“Yes, My lady.” “With what?”“A lot of gifts, my lady.”Feeling surprised, Madison dazed and remembered what happened yesterday. The head maid
AUTHOR’S POVMiranda was shocked by Gavin’s sudden outburst.Gavin couldn’t care anymore as he only thought of Madison’s state. He felt mad at how Miranda acts in front of them. For him, Miranda isn’t a type of person that he could just convince with such submissive words. Still surprised, Miranda glared at Gavin but Gavin, being himself, just stared back at Miranda. Madison saw the tension between the two so she pulled Gavin’s hand as she turned around to leave.“Madison! Please, let’s talk.”Miranda tried approaching her but Gavin stood in front of him. He can feel that Madison is going to break down any moment if she stays here. For him, even though he didn’t ask Madison about her past, he still has an idea that her childhood didn’t end great.“Get out of my way!”“I can’t do that.”“You..! Madison! Please let’s talk, my love.”Madison stopped on her track as she glanced back at her mother.“Give me time..”She said then leave. Miranda looks devastated that her plan on approachi
What is a mother? What does it take to be a mother? People usually call a person a mother if the woman gave birth to her child. If that person took care of that baby for 9 months and painfully gave birth and loved her child. That’s what mothers usually do.But being a mother isn't just considered as being pregnant. There are mothers who adopted their child. Those who treated the children like their own even though she’s not her mother. Or even an older sister that stood like a mother. A mother that sacrifices a lot. A mother that doesn’t love their child and just uses them for their own benefit. Mother that was forced to conceive a child and end up hating them. And a mother that only sees their child as an insurance for their future. No one really knows how mothers really love their children as they have a different version of how they show it. And sometimes the way they show it is confusing even for their own child. Maybe that’s why there are children that choose to be rebellious
MADISON’S POVAfter that news, the maids and servants took pity on me even more. They stop by more often to talk to me and ask if I’m okay. They greet me with a smile and sometimes they will bring something for me.Usually macaroons and steak flavored candies. The maid that was assigned to Chowie often put him in my room or wherever near me.I don’t find it troublesome, but instead, I am thankful for their efforts. I know that they are just trying to make me better. Although I just usually say a dry ‘thanks’, they are very much appreciated. Gavin also asked me about my opinion of what happened. He was the only one that knew that I really didn’t care what happened to that house. I actually wondered if Lucia got burnt together with the house. If not, then that’s unfortunate..But even after Gavin knowing the fact that my father sold me and used me to pay off his debts, he still observed me very carefully. He’s like trying to see if I really didn’t care. And guess what, I do care, at le
MADISON'S POVEver since I was a kid, I fell in love with the idea of meeting someone that will truly love me and stay by my side. Living and dying together. Through sickness and in health. Just like in wedding vows.A prince charming just like my father that have good looks and wealth so that we can live in a castle. My children would run around as I drink my tea in my garden, just like how my mother is doing. And going out every weekends just what we did way back in the past.I was still unaware of what kind of status and power that my family hold because my mother took care of me without saying that we're more privileged than others. She raised me to be humble but not forgetting that there's no one that could look down on me.That's why I thought that having someone by my side, that will love and stay through everything would be easy. Maybe it's because of my naive mind that I'm expecting that everyone will have an happily ever after, just like how princesses in movies have. That
