Sonya’s POV

By 9 a.m., everyone in the project management department had resumed work. The office buzzed with quiet energy, monitors glowing, keyboards clicking. Luckily for me, I had already stepped out earlier that morning, walked down the street, and approached a nearby supermarket where I managed to brush my teeth. I wasn’t about to risk letting anyone smell stale breath, especially not in a place like this where every move mattered.

Now, I was seated at my desk, fingers poised on the desktop keyboard, trying to lose myself in routine work. Just like how I used to do it back in Eerie Lake. I kept my expression neutral and professional. On the outside, I blended in. On the inside, though, my thoughts were pacing.

As my fingers tapped over the keyboard in a steady rhythm, a thought crept in quietly at first, then louder and more urgent.

“What if Eunice Morgan didn’t actually keep the information about the gold, jade, and bronze in her office?”

The idea startled me. Not just because

Sonya’s POVIn my experience, especially the one I've gathered from watching movies, I've come to understand one thing: when people have something deeply important to them, they usually keep it close. On their body. Hidden in plain sight.Since the moment I arrived at Maison Vivre Eerie Lake, not a single day passed without me seeing President Eunice wearing that tiny necklace. It was always there, no matter what else she had on. If she wore pearls, a gold chain, or even no other jewelry at all, that necklace remained constant, clinging to her like a secret no one could reach. And now, suddenly, it was beginning to make sense.“Could she possibly…” I whispered internally, my eyes fixated on that necklace like it held the answer to everything. If that necklace was a storage device for the information Gabriel was looking for, how could something so small hold anything important?Or maybe it didn’t?Still, it was as small as a grain of sandstone, almost vanishing into her skin. You would

  • Marrying The Billionaire Who Healed Me   Chapter 163 The Event of The Date

Eunice’s POVAdrian held my hand like a couple deeply in love, his grip both gentle and sure, guiding me through the private hallway that led to the helipad. The sleek body of the helicopter shimmered beneath the morning sun like a polished jewel waiting to take flight.Julie had driven the car to park it safely in the designated area for vehicles. She didn’t need to follow us beyond that point, and even if she wanted to, she knew better. She wouldn’t have come near the helicopter where Adrian was taking me to.Not because of animosity or exclusion. But because of something much deeper, understanding. She knew her place, not just as my personal assistant, but as someone who cared about me. As a friend. She understood that this was a date, a rare escape from the pressures of life, and like Adrian’s own assistant who had stepped aside earlier, she was giving us the privacy we needed.I stepped onto the helicopter right after him, the thrill already racing through my veins. This wasn’t m

Sonya’s POV“Fucking open, you fucking door.” I cursed under my breath, my voice low and shaky with frustration. The metal handle felt cold beneath my damp palm, as if mocking my growing anxiety. I had expected the door to open easily when I turned the handle, gently at first. But it didn’t budge. The click I was hoping for never came.Panic was beginning to rise in my throat like smoke in a locked room, thick and suffocating, leaving no space to breatheIf this mission failed, what would Gabriel think? Would he assume I deliberately sabotaged the operation? That I was still loyal to the company and trying to protect it from the inside? My heart pounded with fear. I had been given a simple task, get in, retrieve what was needed, and get back to him to do what he wanted with it while he would leave me alone to get my life back. And now, here I was, standing outside a locked door like some amateur.I twisted the handle again, this time more firmly. It barely shifted. The door didn’t

Sonya’s POVI didn’t head straight to the office like everyone else did after work. Instead, I hid in the corner of the corridor until the last echo of footsteps disappeared down the stairwell. The lights dimmed into the after-hours setting, casting long shadows across the marbled floor. Now, the building belonged to silence and me.President Eunice's office was at the topmost floor of the building. To get there using the staircase was like a woman climbing Mount Everest barefoot and exhausted. If I counted right, I had already climbed like forty staircases, and looking up, it felt like I still had a thousand more to go. My thighs screamed, my breathing was shallow, and my chest thudded with each step like it was begging me to turn back. This was too much for someone like me. A mother, a wife, and now, apparently, a secret intruder. If not for my poor life choices, there was no way Gabriel would have sent me on this delicate errand in the first place. If I had lived clean, if I hadn’t

  • Marrying The Billionaire Who Healed Me   Chapter 160 In The Office

Sonya’s POVI intentionally hid in the office until everyone was gone. My heart was pounding the entire time, but I knew what I was doing. I had planned this carefully.Maison Vivre was a conglomerate I had worked with for a long time. Even though I was stationed at the Eerie Lake branch, their practices were consistent across all locations. Rules, hierarchy, protocols, they were all the same. That consistency gave me confidence tonight.Since Gabriel had only become the new head of Eerie Lake a few days ago, not even up to a full week, this made me confident in my knowledge of this branch too because some of the old practices were intact in Eerie Lake. So, definitely very much intact here. This made me know how things worked here, knew the layout, the habits. And tonight, I was going to use that knowledge. So, right there at my seat in the project management department, I kept an eye on the time. At exactly 4:00 p.m., when people began rising from their chairs, straightening their de
