Sylvester’s POV.

I reached the staircase just as Amara was about to say something else.

"Amara," I said, my voice low and even, but with a warning edge. She turned to me, a flicker of surprise crossing her face before she masked it with a smile.

"Uncle Sylvester," she said sweetly, like she didn't know what she was about to do.

"I was just having a little chat with your wife."

I gave her a cold look, one that said I wasn’t buying it.

"I think it’s time for you to retire for the night," I said.

"We can continue this conversation another time."

Amara’s smile faltered for a moment, but she recovered quickly.

"Of course, Uncle Sylvester," she sarcastically replied.

"I wouldn’t want to keep you from your... wife."

With that, she turned and walked away, leaving me standing there with Natasha.

I turned to her, my eyes locking onto hers. Then I started heading to the room and she dragged her feet beside me. I got in first and stood in the middle of the room waiting for her to come in.

Natasha’s POV.The second the words left my mouth, I regretted them. Asking him to stay had felt like the right thing in the moment. But now, with the door closed behind us and silence settling into the room, it suddenly felt like too much. I stood there, unsure of where to look, or how to breathe properly. But then he did something I wasn’t expecting. He nodded and said, “Alright. I’ll stay.”Just like that without awkward pause or hesitation. And somehow that made it even more surprising. I swallowed the tight lump in my throat and gave a small, awkward smile. But then he walked to the couch. Not the bed—the couch. He grabbed one of the smaller pillows and a throw blanket and just started settling in like it was the most natural thing in the world.“You don’t have to do that,” I said, not really sure why I was offering. I was standing there in the middle of the room, barefoot and suddenly very aware of how married we were and how much we didn’t feel like it.He shrugged, his tone li

Sylvester’s POV. The second I caught the fear flickering across Natasha’s face, I moved. Amara was spilling too much and I didn’t stop to think about it. I crossed the room in a few strides, reached for her hand, and wrapped my fingers around hers, anchoring her to me. Her hand was cold, trembling slightly, but she didn’t pull away. She just stood there, frozen, like she didn’t know what to do next. It didn’t matter what Amara was trying to stir up. It didn’t matter what anyone else at that table was thinking. Natasha was my wife now and I wasn’t going to let anyone instill an unnecessary fear into her or let her be humiliated while I stood by and watched. Without a word, I led her to the dining table, weaving us through the heavy silence that had fallen over the room. I pulled out a chair for her. "Sit," I said, keeping my voice low but firm. She lowered herself onto the chair almost mechanically, her posture stiff, her eyes cast down like she was bracing for another blow.

Natasha’s POV. “Is this really the only way?” I asked, the words slipping out before I could stop them, like a desperate plea for an alternative. “Please… what if you give me some time to find a job? I’ll pay you back, I swear.” I was grasping at straws, saying anything that came to mind, hoping for a different outcome. But he just stood there, silent, his face unreadable, like a mask that hid all his thoughts and emotions. There wasn’t even a flicker of consideration in his expression. He looked like someone who had already made up his mind and was just waiting for me to catch up. At that moment, I felt something collapse inside me. Not loudly, but quietly—like a door closing softly behind me. I knew I was out of options. I knew there was no bargaining left to do. And I hated how helpless I felt, how cornered I was. I didn’t actually say yes, I didn’t even think I nodded. But something in my silence must have spoken for me, because the next thing I knew, he stood up, adjusted

  • Marrying The Domineering Billionaire In My Sister’s Place   CHAPTER 4.

Natasha’s POV. After that call from my mother, I was a mess. Torn between rushing to the hospital to check on my father and going straight to the police station to face her. But then I remembered—I couldn’t even get to the hospital without her. I didn’t know where my father was. She was the only one who could tell me. So, with a heart heavy and hands trembling, I turned back around and made my way to the police station. I don’t even remember the ride there. I must have crossed streets without looking and bumped into people without apologizing. It was like my body was moving, but my mind had stayed behind somewhere, trying to catch up. When I walked into the police station, everything felt too loud and too bright. Phones rang. Voices blurred together. Lights buzzed overhead. I stood there for a few seconds, completely blank, not knowing where to go, not knowing who to ask. I must’ve looked lost because an officer behind the desk pointed down a hallway without even asking my nam

  • Marrying The Domineering Billionaire In My Sister’s Place   CHAPTER 3.

Natasha’s POV. My mind screamed that I must be dreaming, that this wasn’t real, that there was no way he would do this, not after everything we had shared and planned. He had promised me that there was nothing between them. That she was just noise, a distraction I should ignore. A spoiled rich girl who wanted everything handed to her. But now she had him too. He was still smiling up at her as she nodded, holding out her hand. The crowd erupted in cheers. And I just stood there, invisible in the middle of it all. My hands were clenched at my sides, and I wasn’t even sure when I had started trembling. I turned away before he could see me. Before either of them could. I couldn’t breathe. I stumbled back to my car, the sound of celebration still ringing in my ears. It felt like the ground had opened up beneath me. Carol had vanished. My parents wanted me to marry a stranger. And the man I had trusted with my heart had just put a ring on someone else’s finger. And for the first ti
