Chapter 2

Author: Zoe bear
“You really came.”

That Alpha—the one I once entrusted with all my faith—didn’t even look up from his phone as he gestured for me to sit.

His eyes swept over me with detached indifference, as if I were nothing more than an insignificant object.

“This event was never meant for you, Ella.” He kept his eyes on the glowing screen. “You know you’re not of enough importance.”

I stepped closer, my voice calm, almost bloodless. “And since when did you get to decide that?”

“Don’t do this.” He frowned. “You know I can’t afford too many emotional variables around me right now.”

“Right. I’m too fragile, too emotional, too disobedient. Not even good enough to be the decorative attachment to your Alpha image. Is that it?”

He finally looked up, voice devoid of any apology. “I’ve told you many times—this isn’t about you.”

“But I’m always the one being replaced, dismissed, thrown out of the room.” I was smiling, yet my eyes were a little moist, and a wave of sourness welled up in my nostrils.

“How do you expect me to interpret ‘not about me’? As a polite way of saying ‘get lost’?”

His brow twitched, but he didn’t argue.

I went on, “Don’t worry—I won’t make a scene. I know you hate things getting ‘ugly.’ All you ever wanted was someone who could smile, raise a glass, wear a dress, and stand quietly by your side. Isn’t that right?”

His Adam’s apple bobbed. “Ella, must you make this sound so unpleasant?”

“Unpleasant?” I laughed coldly. “You used me as background for five years, and now you can’t even bother to leave me a shred of dignity? Am I supposed to thank you for your so-called ‘graceful handling’?”

He turned, pulled a box from the drawer, and finally, there was a touch of softness in his voice. “I meant to give this to you myself... as a keepsake.”

I opened it. Inside was a ruby earring, engraved behind the letters N & L.

I froze. “L? Not E?”

He paused, awkwardly avoiding my gaze. “...It was a mistake.”

I snapped the box shut, my voice hoarse. “So now you don’t even bother correcting gifts meant for someone else.”

The door suddenly swung open with a deliberately gentle voice trailing in behind it. “Oops, sorry! I did knock—maybe you just didn’t hear?”

Liora entered, clad in a pale blue dress, cradling a stack of documents in her arms. She smiled sweetly. “Alpha Nathan, I brought your compiled reports—oh? Ella’s here too? You look a little pale. Not feeling well?”

She stepped forward and casually set the papers on the table, knocking over the small stone sculpture that sat beside me, a carving I had made myself after a border mission, of our two wolves standing on a snowy peak.

Crash.

The sculpture shattered.

“Oh no, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to... Was that something Ella made? It didn’t look very sturdy, anyway.” Her voice dripped with honeyed innocence, as if I were the one overreacting.

I bent down to gather the fragments. A sharp edge sliced my fingertip, and blood began to seep out slowly. My heart is just like these fragments at this moment.

She immediately stepped back, her tone shifting into feigned concern. “Oh! Ella, you’re bleeding... Alpha Nathan, isn’t she being a little too dramatic?”

“Liora, don’t go near her,” he said to her, then turned to me with a sideways glance. “Ella, must you express your discontent like this?”

I don't know if it's because of anger or disappointment, but my body is shaking uncontrollably, and all my emotions are trying to find an outlet at this moment.

“Relax. I’m not about to throw a tantrum or beg for reconciliation. I just—don’t want to leave any broken junk behind to pollute your view.”

He frowned. “You’re being irrational.”

Filled with anger, I stared straight at him, with what seemed like flames burning in my eyes.

“Then tell me, what’s the rational way? Smile while you throw me in the trash? Applaud your eternal love with your new Luna?”

Finally, he raised his voice. “She’s your sister!”

“She took everything from me, and you still cradle her like a treasure. I gave everything and I was never enough in your eyes.” My teeth clenched. “Nathan, did you ever, even for a moment, see me as your Luna?”

His mouth opened—but no words came.

I said it slowly, deliberately: “I carried your child.”

He turned to me sharply.

“I miscarried the night you were attending Liora’s speech event. Do you know how I survived that night?” I pulled out the broken pieces of the sculpture and tossed them into the trash.

“I held onto that stone through three days of fever, surviving on painkillers and clotting powder.” My voice was soft, but every word landed like a nail. “You tell me—was that ‘junk’?”

The air froze.

He finally turned away. “Enough.”

“You’re right. You should’ve said that long ago.” I zipped my bag. “I’ll leave now. That should clean up the room for you.”

Just as I reached the door, he suddenly spoke.

“Wait.”

I stopped.

He said slowly, “You’re still attending the Moon Goddess Blessing Ceremony tonight. With me.”

I laughed, but my head throbbed with pain in waves, and my breathing grew abnormally rapidly.

“Now you remember I exist?”

“You’re still on my official roster,” he said coldly. “The council invitations have already been sent. I can’t retract them. If you don’t show up, I’ll be in a difficult position.”

“Then why don’t you bring her?” I turned. “Isn’t Liora your ideal accessory?”

“You’re still the only one I’ve officially marked as my bonded partner,” he said. “The formality still stands.”

“So, I’m not even worth more than a ‘formality.’” My voice dripped with disdain.

He stepped closer. “Ella, don’t be like this.”

I stared at him and gave him a low, bitter laugh. “One last time. After this show, we’re finished for good.”

  • Marrying a Disabled Alpha for My Fake Sister   Chapter 19

When the news of my engagement to Danny spread throughout the wolf pack, my biological mother, Jane, was at a tea party in the botanical garden. She was surrounded by a group of ladies adorned in jewels, until someone mentioned my name.“Did you hear? Ella’s marrying Danny! My alpha met him last week, and he walks steadier than the young ones,” a lady in a purple dress swirled her champagne glass, the diamond bracelet on her wrist sparkling under the sunlight.“The invitation was stunning, with golden edges and a phoenix design, and it even had a white peacock feather inside—only Silver Claw Pack would go that far.”Another lady, with a silk handkerchief over her mouth, smiled. “By the way, Jane, we didn’t get an invitation to Ella’s engagement party. Didn’t she remember us old friends?”Jane’s fingers whitened as she gripped her teacup. The sound of the cup clinking against the saucer filled the air. “Naturally… it’s a family affair. I didn’t want to trouble you all.”“But my niece ha

The news kept replaying footage of Nathan dragging Liora across the clubhouse, and I flipped my phone over, smiling at Danny. He took my hand. “Want to sit on the terrace?”The swing under the trellis swayed gently, one he had had installed last week.“I used to think I’d only ever watch the sunrise from a wheelchair,” he said, gently stroking the scar on the back of my hand. “Meeting you made me realize, standing up isn’t for walking; it’s so I can hold your hand.”“What’s the reward?” I raised an eyebrow. He lowered his head, pressing his forehead against mine. “Anything you want.”“Your grandmother’s emerald crown.”“In the safe.”“It is Silver Claw’s villa.”“The deed is in your name.”“The decision-making power for the entire pack?”He laughed. “That’s already yours.”As I nodded, he suddenly dropped to one knee, holding up a ring made of broken diamonds—melted from the scrap metal left after his accident. “I’ll get you the real diamond after the engagement. For now, this will do

The wedding was called off, and Alpha Nathan, now exiled from the family, sat in a smoky little tavern, fiddling with the pocket watch, the one with my picture inside, the edges polished by his thumb.A brown leather-jacketed man wolf sat across from him and slid a glass of whiskey over. "Was it worth it? Losing your family business for Liora?""Get out." Alpha Nathan didn’t lift his eyes, his thumb tracing the grooves on the watch.“I’m William, Liora’s legal husband.” The man tossed a notarized document onto the table. “She didn’t tell you? That I was an alcoholic, abusive, and supposedly died five years ago? It’s all lies. She hated me rushing her to have kids, and that’s why she was fishing for other Alphas.”Alpha Nathan gripped the watch tightly, the metal chain biting into his palm.William pulled out a stack of printed papers from his canvas bag and slammed them on the table. “This is her record on the ‘high-end escort’ website. She even spent the night with me at a guest house

Alpha Nathan had stayed by her side for two days and two nights, finally being allowed into the hospital room.Liora was half-leaning against the bed, a cast on her wrist with "Do not touch" written on it. Upon seeing him, her eyes reddened. "You’re here... Ella didn’t ask for you?"“Don’t mention her.” He was about to sit down when three officers in uniform blocked the door. “We’ve found that the brakes were tampered with. This was a planned murder.”The lead officer held up a bracelet. “Found at the scene, registered under Ella’s name.”Liora suddenly raised her voice. “It wasn’t her!”She coughed twice. “Back in school, she pushed me down the stairs, swapped my fever medicine when I was sick, but... murder? She would never dare.”Once the officers left, Liora curled into his arms. “I’m so scared…”Alpha Nathan gently stroked her hair. “Don’t be afraid. We’ll get married. Once the baby is born, they’ll be the heir to Silver Fang Pack.”“Really... marry me?” Liora’s eyelashes fluttere

That night, I couldn’t sleep at all. When I closed my eyes, all I could see was Danny’s back as he shielded me from the fire. His voice, coughing blood, saying “Don’t be afraid,” and the doctor’s words, “If we delay any longer, the nerves will be permanently damaged.”The night light in the hallway was still on, and I walked to Danny’s door, my fingers hovering above the door. It suddenly opened, and he was sitting in his wheelchair, the collar of his shirt undone, the scar on his collarbone visible in the dim light.“Didn’t sleep?” His voice was hoarse. “I heard you walk up and down the hallway three times.”“You didn’t sleep either.” I stared at the dark circles under his eyes. “What are you thinking?”“I’m wondering if you’ll blame me.” He turned his wheelchair to let me in. “Blame me for not telling you sooner. The fire, I was the one who saved you. The medicine sent anonymously? That was me. Even the ‘freedom clause’ in your bond termination agreement—I had the lawyer add that.”I

Liora stormed into Winsor, her high heels clicking sharply against the floor, the silk hem of her dress stained with grass clippings. She grabbed Jane’s wrist, her nails almost digging into the flesh. “Alpha Nathan took back the engagement ring! He said the wedding is canceled and had the warriors block me!”Vince slammed his teacup down on the tray, the force of it rattling the delicate porcelain. “When you ran off with his investment to marry another Alpha, did you think about today? Ella stood by his side for five years, and you think you can just snatch it away?”His eyes were filled with undisguised disdain.Liora’s face paled, and she stumbled back, knocking over a flower stand. “Ella broke the bond herself! She couldn’t even keep the child. Who does she think she is, taking the Luna position in Silver Fang?”Jane suddenly pressed her hand to her chest, a piece of paper peeking through her fingers. The words “bond termination” were blurred with tears. She stumbled toward the stai
