After reading the article, Ashley pushed the paper away with a sign and sat lost in thoughtful silence, but soon it was interrupted by the hurried footsteps and the door of her room pushed open, revealing her unpleasant face of Clara.
“Ashley, can I have a word with you?” Her subtle tone surprised Ashley, but she nodded, getting up from her bed. The fear of getting scolded by her was breaking the cold sweat from her forehead.
“Congratulations on your new assigned job.” She drew a deep breath and went to where Ashley was sitting and pulled her hand to take her seat beside her. Ashley was gaping at her with an open mouth and failed to cover her shock.
“You know you’re not only going to be his maid but also his sex slave.” The dripping honey words couldn’t hide the cunningness in her eyes.
“What!” Ashley strikes and gets up. She wasn’t expecting this from the meaning of the maid. She thought she only had to serve him meals and do some small chores he ordered her to do, but Clara’s words shook her soul.
“Don’t quote me wrong, the previous one he had died while trying to end the pregnancy she had for him. Well, be careful.” she stood up and left, leaving the both of them speechless. The air was reluctant to enter her system. She was struggling to understand what was happening to her. She realized she had lost control over her life the moment she put her step in his manor.
The pounding heart of her, screaming at her to run far away, taking her sister from his grasp before he does something horrible with both of them. As soon as Clara left her room, Chloe ran towards her, which was hidden behind the curtains the whole time. She tried to calm her down, but the silence of Ashley poking her heart seriously made her worried about her.
“Hey calm down,” Chloe said, breaking the unusual silence between them.
“If I were you, I would be happy to be in your shoes, getting to see the mafia king every day, not only occasionally, and for him to also have you on his bed. Think about it, it is a great opportunity, you know the opportunity to come but once.” Ashley jerked to look at this stupid girl. She was amused with the daydreaming capability and taking this horrible thing with so much enjoyment.
Ashley contacted Damon and asked him to meet her, and he agreed. Nobody knew that they were friends or even talked.
“What does Master Adonis mean by he owns me? Well, he owns himself as much as I do own myself. He even gave me a code of conduct, like I am a sort of object.” Damon stared at this naive girl, not knowing how to explain to her what Adonis wanted from her. He cleared his throat and tried to compose himself.
“I knew about the code of conduct and everything written on it,” Damon said, startling Ashley into immediate scrutiny.
“That is what he told me before writing it, moreover I was there when he was writing it,” He agreed in his low tone, hanging his guilt.
“How could you have known and not told me about it?” Ashley exclaimed accusingly.
“I had other things on my mind. I even told him to remove some rules that are too much. You are here blabbing like an infant.” Damon defended himself, only he knew how much he struggled to remove some of his extravagant demands from her, and how he was going to negotiate the sexual fetishes of his friend with him regarding another girl?
“Indeed, how could you have told me when you promised him not to tell anybody until I received it?”
“Exactly,” Damon clamored.
“Well, don’t look at me as if I’ve sprouted horns,” Damon said grumpily, after getting familiar with what he had pushed her towards the bed of Adonis.
“Enough of this. Can I see my sister now?” Ashley said, waiting anxiously.
“Yes we shall, this way ma’am.” He rolled his eyes and held his hand towards the small iron doorway at the corner.
Damon took Ashley to the cell where Amelia was kept. When he got to the entrance, their bow was a sign of respect and then he introduced Ashley as the new maid who will serve them food and also Amelia.
Damon ordered the guard in an authoritative tone and they obeyed his command forthwith. Immediately after they left, Ashley ran inside the cell to hug her sister. She ran into her embrace, snuggling each other like a newborn.
“How have you been?” Ashley asked Amelia, looking sadly at her sister’s present circumstances.
“I have been good, all thanks to Damon,” Amelia said, smiling at Damon. Amelia studied her flushed face and said,
“You look as if you’ve quite recovered from the nightmare of the last few days? You look quite, uh fetching, Ashley.”
“aren’t I always?”
“Sure.” He rolled her eyes, holding a hint of a smile.
“Anyway, I have two pieces of news; first about me being Master Adonis’s maid, and second, I am to bring your meal every day.” Her tone was concerning and excited at the same time. She was happy visiting her sister every day to ensure her safety.
“Why was that necessary? Have you been pestered?” Amelia’s eyes lowered, realizing what she had pushed her sister into.
“Not exactly, but we all know it for the best.”
“Yes, she is correct. This is merely a precautionary measure. There is nothing to worry about.” Damon looks at his watch before he continues.
“Time is fast passing. We have to get going.”
“Bye baby sister.”
“Bye Amelia,” Ashley’s words echoed as they left the cell.
Towards morning, Ashley had been awakened from her sleep by the noise of her alarm. She tried to stretch her hand and reach for her watch on the bedside table but encountered some unexpected resistance. Her hand appeared to be pinned down by some weight of a warm, cuddly object. Dash it, she is late, her hand leaping to her mouth. She turned cautiously to look at the person lying beside her and almost went into an apoplexy attack at the discovery.
"Chloe!" She exhaled slowly. But how in the name of sanity did Chloe get here, she wondered that silently.
She glanced again at the time and felt so stupid for staying up late, she felt panicky at the thought of master Jeremy. How would she face him, and what would he do to her if she came late?
She retrieved her clothes and dashed to the bathroom for her morning ablutions. She was surprised to see a guard outside her door waiting for her. A shiver passed her spine at the thought of Master Adonis' reaction being late on her first day.
Chapter 10
The room was divided into two a mini sitting room and also a minibar, the bed was spacious enough to convey three people at once, her eyes roamed the room still it came in contact with Adonis sitting on a comfy couch eating his breakfast then it occurred to her that she hasn't eaten breakfast. She was damn hungry.
She watched as he ate his food gently and how handsome he is, she wondered why he was so enviously handsome but cruel? His steel eyes were so lustrous that they could create a complex moon. She got lost staring at him not until he snapped his finger at her face, she felt so embarrassed as she looked down shyly.
"When you're done staring at me, you dispose of these plates," he said as he stood up ready to leave. His lips were twitching to move upwards but his arrogance couldn’t make it possible.
When he was gone, she dashed to the kitchen to eat something and came back to finish her chore.
The work was not as hard as I thought she said as she retired to her room. Ashley got to her room smiling sheepishly only for her to meet Chloe.
"What is making you smile, has he touched you?" Ashley hissed, irritated by her word she pushed her gently away from the door.
" Woah, come down I didn't mean to upset you I just asked a question," she said grinning and following her behind like a puppy. She was so excited that she couldn’t work at all.
“Well, nothing happened.” Ashley turned as she walked to the bathroom and tried to have her bath.
" I just ask a question and I need an answer," Chloe was stubborn and wanted to know everything that happened between them.
"Chloe, I said nothing happened can you please let me be. I am tired and need some rest" Ashely poked her head out and slammed the door on her face. Her face remembered the wilting flower from all the chores she had to do for him. No other maid helped her nor touched his stuff.
"Idiot," Chloe gasped under her breath and jumped onto her bed waiting for her. She wasn’t going to let her go. This night was going to be quite long for Ashley.
Ashley tried getting some sleep when her phone buzzed. She checked and saw it was a call from Damon, she called him back and he picked up the second ring.
"Hey, how was your first day at work?"
" It was nice, it wasn't the way I expected it to be. He was good. I don't know if it was because it was the first day," she said, chuckling while touching her hair.
"You need to be very careful, he is a sheep in wolf clothing I mean he is very dangerous. I will talk to you later. I have some things to attend to."
"Bye," she mumbled, already sleepy.
Ashley fell asleep almost immediately. She dreamt that she was in Jeremy's arms and felt so warm and secure that she did not want to wake up again until it was broad daylight. She lay back a little while longer trying to adjust mentally to the strange surrounding she found herself in. The fog in her mind was, however, soon dispelled by the sound of her alarm.
The sun was barely peeking over the horizon when Ashley awoke, her body stiff from the restless sleep. Amelia was still curled up beside her, sleeping deeply after the harrowing events of the night before. Demon was outside, sharpening a blade, his expression hard as he prepared for the inevitable confrontation with Adonis.Ashley sat up slowly, her mind still racing with thoughts of what lay ahead. The peace they had found in the small cabin felt fragile, like a thin veil stretched over a storm waiting to break. She knew it was only a matter of time before Adonis found them—and when he did, there would be no turning back. She quietly stepped outside, the crisp morning air biting at her skin. Demon glanced up from his work but said nothing as she approached him. His silence was heavy, but it wasn’t unfriendly. It was the quiet of a man who knew the weight of the fight that lay ahead.“We don’t have much time,” he finally said, his voice low and grave. “Adonis will come for us soon.”A
The silence that followed Adonis’s departure was thick, weighted with the echoes of the battle that had just transpired. Ashley stood frozen in place, her heart pounding in her chest as she watched the shadows swallow Adonis whole. His dark words lingered in the air, like a storm cloud threatening to return.Amelia lowered the gun slowly, her hands shaking as the adrenaline that had fueled her courage began to fade. She had never held a weapon before, let alone pointed one at a man like Adonis. Her knees buckled slightly, but before she could fall, Ashley rushed forward and wrapped her arms around her sister.“It’s over,” Ashley whispered, her voice thick with emotion. She wanted to believe it, but deep down, she knew Adonis’s words carried a dangerous truth. This wasn’t over, not by a long shot.Amelia buried her face in Ashley’s shoulder, her body trembling from head to toe. “I didn’t know what else to do,” she admitted in a shaky breath. “I couldn’t let him hurt you.”“You did what
Demon and Adonis clashed like two opposing forces of nature, their bodies moving with deadly precision. Each blow was filled with years of unspoken rage, resentment, and betrayal. The sounds of their fists meeting skin echoed through the forest, and Ashley watched helplessly as her worst fears began to unfold before her eyes.Amelia clung to Ashley’s arm, shaking. "Ashley, we have to do something! They’re going to kill each other!" Her voice trembled, but Ashley’s mind was racing too fast for words. She couldn’t pull her eyes away from the violent whirlwind before her. Every fiber of her being wanted to scream, wanted to run between them and make them stop. But how?Adonis had always been an enigma, a man who dominated the world around him with cruelty, power, and an iron will. But now, seeing him like this—engaged in a primal, bloody fight with the only person he’d ever trusted—shattered something inside Ashley. She had once thought there was more to Adonis, a hidden vulnerability be
Chapter 98: A Trap of FateThe air crackled with tension as Adonis descended the hill, his cold, dark gaze locked on Ashley. There was something terrifying in his calmness, as though he had expected this chase to end here all along. Ashley’s breath hitched, her entire body frozen in place, despite Demon’s command to run. But where would she go? The forest was vast, but Adonis was always a step ahead, always finding her no matter how far she ran. “Move!” Demon growled through gritted teeth, his gun trained on Adonis. His voice snapped Ashley out of her shock. She grabbed Amelia’s hand, pulling her sister behind her as they tried to edge farther down the incline. “Run, Ashley!” Amelia urged, her voice trembling with fear, but it was Demon who answered, his voice low and dangerous. “He won’t stop unless you face him.”Ashley swallowed hard, her heart racing as she glanced back at Adonis. He had paused midway down the hill, his piercing gaze tracking their every movement. His lips curle
The tension in the cabin thickened as the three prepared to leave. The forest outside remained eerily quiet, the early morning light casting long shadows across the trees. The cold air bit at Ashley's skin, but the chill she felt wasn’t just from the temperature. Something felt off. The uneasy silence gnawed at her nerves, every second stretching painfully thin. Amelia had stayed quiet since their conversation, her face a mask of worry. Demon moved with purpose, checking their supplies and ensuring they left no trace behind. He was methodical, calm, but there was a storm brewing behind his dark eyes. Ashley couldn’t shake her sister’s warning from earlier—trust was a fragile thing, and in their world, it could shatter in an instant. She had seen Demon’s loyalty to Adonis firsthand, but she had also seen the cracks in his resolve. He had helped them this far, yet the lingering question remained: would he continue to protect them when faced with the full force of Adonis’s wrath? The c
The morning light filtered through the cracks in the old cabin’s walls, casting soft shadows on the floor. The air was cool and still, as if the woods themselves were holding their breath, waiting for the next move. Ashley lay awake, staring at the ceiling, her thoughts racing. She had barely slept, too haunted by everything that had happened.Next to her, Amelia stirred in her sleep, her face soft and peaceful for the first time in what felt like days. Ashley watched her sister for a moment, a surge of protectiveness welling up inside her. Amelia had been through so much—caught in a whirlwind of violence and betrayal that neither of them had asked for.And then there was the baby. Ashley’s hand instinctively moved to her stomach, her fingers gently pressing against the small swell. The baby was a part of her now, a tiny life growing inside her, a symbol of everything she wanted to protect. But it also tied her to Adonis in a way she couldn’t escape. No matter how far she ran, the con
