Chapter 3

Author: No Pudding
Early the next morning, I arrived at the office. I had just gone downstairs to pick up the breakfast Owen ordered for me when I saw messages flooding the team group chat.

We’d suddenly changed supervisors.

The previous one, who assigned interns impossible tasks and expected them to be on call 24/7, had been transferred away.

The new supervisor was said to have been sent from headquarters. His name was Leo, and he was supposedly very kind, much better than the last one.

Most importantly, he was extremely handsome.

“When I saw him, I almost screamed. He’s so handsome,” Mandy Moore, my only close friend during the internship, said nonstop as we went downstairs to eat.

“Mandy, wake up. Our company strictly forbids office romance.”

“He’s seriously too handsome. I even think he might be an incubus. Incredibly charming, and he has that mature man aura. Ah, I really like him.”

“Stop it. I’m very sensitive to the word ‘incubus’ right now.”

A new message popped up on WhatsApp. It was Owen again.

He said he wanted to find a chance to meet me and talk about what came next.

“What, did your sugar daddy message you again?” Mandy leaned over to look at my phone.

I frowned and locked the screen.

I wasn’t ready to meet Owen yet. However, since he brought it up, it was probably time to make things clear.

I had no plans to date anytime soon, and I definitely wasn’t going to flirt with someone who might be my biological father.

The elevator doors opened. The moment Mandy and I stepped out, I heard her suck in a sharp breath, then elbow me hard.

I winced and looked up.

A tall figure had walked into the elevator. He had broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and clean, sharp features. With a face so handsome it was almost decadent, he had wide dark eyes, thin lips slightly pressed together, hinting at a mixed heritage.

At the top of his head, there seemed to be something fluffy.

However, the elevator doors closed too quickly for me to see clearly.

He was so handsome.

“That’s Leo!” Mandy shrieked beside me.

My phone vibrated again. Owen was messaging me again.

Watching that Dwayne Johnson lookalike profile picture shake nonstop on my screen, I felt like crying.

Mister, why do you look like this? Just look at him!

After Leo took over, my workload suddenly became much lighter.

He assigned me tasks I could actually learn from, unlike before, where I was just endlessly helping make presentation slides.

I couldn’t help secretly observing him during meetings.

There was no helping it. After all, my life before had been too bland. I’d never seen a man this handsome.

He was extremely attractive to me.

Also, there was another reason.

That day, when the elevator doors closed, I was sure I hadn’t imagined the fluffy thing on top of his head.

However, I never saw it again after that.

The girls in the company were always finding excuses to go to Leo’s office, but Mandy and I didn’t dare.

We wished we could turn invisible in our supervisor’s eyes.

It was just like back in school, when you didn’t dare go to the teacher’s office. We didn’t really dare go to Leo’s office either.

As interns, the two of us often took the blame.

I’m a mafia principessa. Even if I got fired, it wouldn’t affect me much.

However, Mandy was different. This opportunity mattered a lot to her.

She treated me well, so many times I’d grit my teeth and take the blame for her.

Because of that, Mandy idolized me and said I was basically her savior.

Come on, being treated like a great hero feels amazing!

Hmph. Honestly, I’m the real sugar mommy here.

When it actually came time to admit mistakes, though, the one panicking was still me.

“Come, sit down. Let’s talk.”

Leo’s lips curved into a smile as he looked at me. Then, he personally poured me a cup of tea from the side.

My injuries weren’t serious. The doctor treated them quickly and said they probably wouldn’t leave scars.“My mom said succubi have charm magic that can manipulate people. I clearly tried using it on Will just now. Why didn’t it work? It worked on you.”I muttered, confused.Owen blinked his fox-like eyes and couldn’t help laughing.“It doesn’t work on me either.”I stared at him in shock.“Then why did you listen to me? You transferred me money! You even let me touch you!”“You wanted to play, so I went along with it.”His words hit me like lightning.“Then… then when you said you weren’t my dad… were you lying too?”Owen patted my head helplessly.“If I were your dad, and you were the daughter of an incubus and succubus, do you really think you’d only have this much magic?”Fair point.I was very well-behaved, too. That part definitely comes from my dad.As long as he wasn’t lying, that was enough. My palm tingled. I looked down and realized he was playing with my hand

Walking into the conference room, I decided to properly put my powers to use.The man sitting across from me looked old, his face thick with sagging flesh. His small, beady hawk‑like eyes gleamed with sleazy calculation, and the mix of cigarettes, alcohol, and stale age hit me full in the face. I almost gagged.“What’s this? They sent an intern to negotiate with me?”Will Martinez sounded openly displeased. He dropped into his seat and tossed his briefcase onto the table.Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Anderson hidden among the crowd, just about to step forward. I subtly gestured for him to stay back.“This proposal is my responsibility. So I’ll be the one presenting it.”I opened the PowerPoint. The man’s presence was overwhelming, causing my hands to shake. Even with my succubus abilities, fear still crept in.“Fine. Let’s see what you’ve got, little girl.”He crossed his arms, narrowed his eyes, and looked at me with clear contempt.I steadied myself, recalling how Ow

Silence spread between us. For once, Owen wore an expression that clearly said, "Are you out of your mind?”I was still staring at him, confused.“Say something. My mom, Freya Parker. What exactly is going on between you two?”Owen took a deep breath and looked at me like I was an idiot.“If I were your dad, would your mom introduce you to me? Are you crazy, or is she?”I lowered my head awkwardly. He held my hand, the one I’d been touching him with, and explained seriously.“Back then, Freya was the senior I admired most. The first time I saw her ears, I realized she was a succubus too.“My parents were always busy with work and never had time for me. I didn’t really understand what love was, and no one really loved me either. Freya was always kind to me, but she was kind to everyone. I wasn’t special to her, so I always treated her as a good friend.”“A good friend.”I was distracted. His scent kept tempting me, and without thinking, my hand naturally drifted back to his abs

I didn’t sleep a wink that night.Aside from thinking about everything, I spent most of the time playing with my ears. They were a pale pink, but if I touched them too long, the tips would slowly turn red.I still hadn’t fully accepted the fact that I was the daughter of a succubus.I’d lived honestly for twenty years, without having had my first kiss yet, and now you’re telling me I’m a succubus? After studying all night, I still couldn’t figure out how to release this so‑called mind-coercion ability. Honestly, I was starting to suspect that humans… shouldn’t be giving birth to succubi. However, if I really learned abilities as strong as Owen’s, the first thing I’d do would be to coerce him into transferring the company to me.Then have him give me twenty thousand—no, two million!Just thinking about it made me happy.Mom said that as long as I truly wanted something from the bottom of my heart, it would work.Practicing on other people didn’t feel appropriate. What if Ma

“Mom, I met Owen. He said you’re a succubus? And that I am too?”I lay on my bed, swinging my legs as I video-called my mom.“I thought you knew. I mean, I haven’t aged at all these past years. Didn’t that strike you as odd?” She shrugged helplessly on the screen. I flipped over and sat up, emotions surging.“What the hell! I thought it was because Dad had money and spent it right!”“No cosmetic procedure is that effective. I just don’t really age in the first place.”Suddenly, a faint purplish glow radiated from her entire figure. Even I felt drawn into it.Then, slowly, a pair of dark violet ears emerged from the top of her head.I yelped and immediately ended the call.‘It had to be special effects,’ I tried to comfort myself. How could something this surreal be real? All these years, I’d thought something was wrong with me. It turned out I was a perfectly normal person for thinking about sleeping with men because I was a succubus?!Then, did I react to Owen that day

Owen looked at me with a smile, head tilted.I stared at him blankly, unable to look away.In my line of sight, his ears looked soft and bouncy, practically begging to be touched. So, one second before my brain caught up, my body moved first, and I reached out to squeeze them. They really were springy. The texture was nice, too.Nope!Aren’t I stroking my dad?!I yanked my hand back and shot up from my chair, then bowed stiffly to the side. With my head lowered, I used up every ounce of courage I’d accumulated in my life and shouted, “I’m sorry, sir! I don’t know what’s wrong with me today. I’ve been acting strange! If I offended you in any way, I sincerely ask for your forgiveness!”That was it. All my courage was gone.I kept my head down as my face slowly burned red again. In the silence, a low, velvety laugh came from across the table. It made my legs go weak all over again.“Hallie, I was the one who told you to touch me. How could I blame you?“Look up.”That comma
