Jake's POV.

The elderly looking woman with dirty hair and crooked yellow teeth burst through the room, heading straight for the stage where my father stood.

The horrible scent that lingered around her body polluted the air, making some guests growl in irritation.

Compared to the beautiful woman I used to see in my dreams, this woman looked tattered and unstable.

Her trembling hands picked out the dirt from her hair, her teeth widening as she looked at my father.

“I escaped. I came for you,” Her soft voice was the only evidence that she was still young.

I was drawn to walk up to her and hug her because I finally found my mother but her appearance repelled me so I stayed put.

Father cast a scornful look at her, “Guards! Get this tattered rogue out of here! I don't know who she is!”

The guards swiftly moved from the door to the trembling woman staring at my father with confusion.

I didn't know why my father was pretending not to know her. It was quite evident that she was my mom
