~Five Years Later~ The air was warm, and the sun shone brightly as I climbed the steps of the pack house, after a freezing winter the pack could finally, open all its windows and start throwing out all the dust and debris that collected over the winter months. The first day of warmth was always my favourite, seeing everyone with huge smiles on their faces as they cleaned their homes and watching all the pack children running around playing without having to wear five layers. It’s days such as this I truly appreciate the pack that Alban and I have built over the years, there were days when it was hard but now to see how happy each member is, it makes all the hours of stress and worry worth it. “After you Luna.” A kind pack member smiles allowing me to walk through the double doors first, sending him a kind smile as a thank you, I enter the busy lobby which was as happy and bright as the atmosphere outside. The curtains were wide open allowing the warm natural sun and warmth to ra
As we traveled upstairs towards the second level, the hallways were dark and empty, each person had either taken refuge downstairs or were in the basement hiding out the battle. My mind focused on one thing, getting to Max’s room. He unlike Alban, liked to stay in the pack house, he said it was because he didn’t have the urge to move out until he started a family but deep down I knew, he felt as though he had even more power over his pack members even while they were sleeping. So, when the double doors of his bedroom right at the very end of the hall came into the view, the bright lights from his bedroom illuminated his doorframe. Alban’s hand held tightly onto mine as we drew closer to the door, my anger growing higher and higher with each step. Past memories I once held dear to my heart flashed through my mind like some old movie script, images of Max and I messing about as we walked these very halls in the mornings after I’d seen the hounds. The times he would drunkly hang from
The journey to The Full Moon Pack ran such ahead of schedule, I was a little shocked when the border and the two guards who I knew very well came into view. Taking a deep breath in to calm my nerves and fully immerse myself in the headspace I needed to be in, I stare ahead at the border with my mind on the objective, find and deal with Max. The guards seemed a little shocked as we draw closer to the border as though we would storm right through but just as we were about to enter, we all came to an abrupt halt standing right at the border. “State your purpose!” One of the men Issac shouted drawing his sword from his belt, his eyes staring at the men before they land on me sat on the hound. “Iris?” He asked in a state of shock that he was actually seeing me, where I was sure to send him a little smile, even though I was planning to attack, his cooperation will be more than vital. “Hello Issac, I believe you are more than aware of why I am here with my Alpha and men. The reign of
The next week seemed to be one of the fastest weeks in all my life, the next day Alban and I announced our engagement to my family who were overjoyed and then to the pack, who also seemed to share the same sentiment. Another huge party was thrown to celebrate us that night, even though everyone seemed happy, I would catch the slight glances of fear when a guard would watch past the perimeter. Due to the way the last party ended of my Luna ceremony, Alban didn’t want to take any chances especially, with what we were doing to Max as the days progressed, he updated the guards patrols, luckily the party went on without a hitch and everyone was able to have a well deserved, uninterrupted celebration. The day after didn’t give us any time to rest, Alban, Lincoln and I spend the entire day in his office going over the plans of the new invasion against Max, the men we believed would be perfect for the task, the position of the hounds and what the plan was after we took control. By the end
Once I was carried home on Alban’s shoulders, instead of putting me on the ground, I was placed to sit on top of the kitchen counter whilst he dealt with the little burn like wounds on my palm. To me they weren’t that bad, I had received many of these the first few times Russell and I were tasked with checking Max’s water, yes, they can sting but after a few days, they heal completely. But Alban wasn’t having any of it and insisted he put some ointment on them with a bandage just as a precaution. So, I sat silently watching as my Alpha mate delicately wrapped a little white bandage around my palm, this giving my mind time to wonder. Of course it drifted to what we had all just done, the fact that it was me who tipped that liquid in to start the process, even though I knew it was the right thing to do and Max deserved it, I kept asking myself what past me would have thought. That morning that I stood outside of my car loading all of my boxes in to head home, I didn’t know what scar
The race between Alban and I still held firm as we entered our pack’s territory, many times throughout that race, we were neck and neck as neither of us wanted to back down. The clearing we had declared would be the finishing line soon came into view, seeing the end in sight, it only pushed me to go even faster where I began to draw ahead of Alban, a fact I know he didn’t like. Just before I could reach the clearing, a playful bite is sent to my back leg causing me to trip a little, this giving Alban the upper hand who raced ahead and entered the clearing winning the race. A growl left my lips as I arrived beside him, where a happy howl left his own, but I was beyond annoyed. Walking behind a tree and shifting, I put my clothes on before walking back out where he too had shifted and stood there about to place his shirt on. “You’re a fucking cheat!” I shout striding closer to him with an anger filled look, whilst he only shrugged his shoulders throwing his shirt over one shoulder
With the tube still sitting in my hand with the liquid that would start this entire process, I felt as though I had so many things swirling around my head. It was my idea to do this and it’s something I knew needed to happen, but it was as though my body was frozen. What Max did to me more times than I know of was beyond awful, he took advantage when I could not only not fight him off but didn’t even know it was happening. He threw any care he felt towards me out of the window to get what he wanted; he deserved this. But that nagging voice inside of me asked if this was the correct way, maybe I should allow the W.M.O to take charge and deal with Max, but could I stand in that courtroom and give my testimony and hear him try to defend his actions? “He took away from us something which was only mates to take, allow mate to take his life as a consequence.” My wolf tells me in my mind after hearing the battle I was having, but her words seeming to spur me on. Holding my head up, I t
After going over the second half of my marvellous plan, all men agreed my approach would not only be the most successful but also, swift enough so the W.M.O will never be able to catch wind of it beforehand. Alban allowed Russell to use one of the packs labs where he was able to brew The Deadly Sleeping Drought in under an hour, the clear liquid soon placed in a thin glass test tube and in a protective bag so it wouldn’t spill. We all agreed that the quickest and stealthiest way for us to travel to The Full Moon Pack would be in wolf form, so around two hours after I had disclosed my amazing plan, we were all stood at the edge of the border with bags in our hands holding the spare clothes for us to wear so we wouldn’t have to walk around in the nude. “I’ve just realised, you haven’t seen me in wolf form yet, I had shifted while I was away and due to that stupid order, which should really be lifted by now, I haven’t been able to.” I smiled over to Alban as he dug through his bag
Walking into Alban’s office, he sat behind his desk with his leg bouncing in anger and impatience as he waited for me to return. Lincoln sat to the side of him seeming to read a bunch of maps that I had asked from him whilst Russell, sat off to the side seeming to jot down some information. “How did it go?” Alban asked as I closed the door behind me, all eyes seeming to move away from whatever the rest were doing as I stood in the middle of the room. “I sorted it, everything is being moved to a specific location where as soon as you’re ready, you can go see it all. No one held any malice towards what they were doing, yes, some people didn’t like Polly, and most were scared but she was still once this packs Luna. Your father and her did great things for this pack; people are grieving that side of things. People grieve in different ways, and none are the wrong way.” I smiled walking deeper into the room hoping to calm his anger down, he wasn’t doing this out of spite or true anger,
