Kaelis' pov

The faint smell of chlorine had become my favorite smell and it was the only companion I had.

The work at the clinic had become way more exhausting than I had intended.

I had no time for myself, and I had become a shadow of my former self-- not that I knew who that was, but the person I intended on becoming with the memory loss wasn't this.

I didn't expect lending a helping hand would lead to me getting called even at odd hours to do minor treatments and whatnot.

I wanted to find myself and not be ungrateful... that was the only reason I had taken the job as an healer-- not like I had a choice in the decision anyways but I felt useful. Letting out a heavy sigh as I continued washing the medical instruments in the sink.

The dreams or visions were not helping either.

Some days I had woken up exhausted, while others I had woken up being scared and on rare occasions I had woken up happy, but one thing had remained constant —the male voice —the biggest part of the puzzle that I still can't piece together.

I cleaned my forehead, which was soaked in sweat with my back hand as I struggled to continue washing.

"Kaelis!" A voice yelled from outside the door.

"I am in here," I beckoned to the person.

The door opened as Myra entered with a basket covered with a white piece of clothing, and she held it tight.

"Myra? Hey," I said, excitedly... Way too excited, to be honest. In the midst of this chaos, it was nice to see a friendly face.

But she didn't answer me right away; rather, her eyes slowly monitored every inch of my body like she was studying them, and that made me uncomfortable, but it was Myra, and she was a weird fellow-- so, I brushed it off.

"Are... Are you okay?" I spoke way too soon, but I had to ease myself.

"Yes..." She finally let out as she took some steps further, towards me. "I came to see how you were doing and maybe see if you needed any help?"

"I am good, really. Like I have always said that we need more hands in the clinic," I suggested.

The work in the clinic wasn't even a two-man job; rather, it was a job that needed multiple hands, but I was the only one available or interested.

"We are grateful that you are here and your input has been helpful," she replied, her voice was softer now but her eyes still creeped me out. "Anyways, I got you comfort food, courtesy of the king." Her smile widened beyond the usual length.

"The king?" I asked.

Did I do something wrong?

I had kept my head low and had not done anything to attract any attention since the last time we had spoken, so there was no way that I had done something wrong.

"Did..." I coughed as a way to steady myself. "Did I do something wrong?" I added, my voice was barely a whisper.

"Of course not, Kaelis. Don't be worried, besides, I am sure this is the king's way of showing appreciation for your good works," she spoke calmly, but oddly, I didn't feel the calm, nor did I get the idea of it just being a gift.

She gently placed the basket on the table and opened it. It was filled with lots of fruits ranging from berries to apples even plums... But this was way too much to be a thank-you gift.

"These were freshly plucked and I took the liberty of hand-picking them for you," she added.

"Myra, you didn't have to."

"No, you are worth the stress. Besides, you are a guest of the king and Orin seems to be concerned about your well-being too."

Orin?

That was a name I had thought I wouldn't hear out loud, outside my thoughts. I had not seen him since he left me hanging and pushed me out of his house.

My countenance fell as I thought more about him-- I shouldn't be thinking about him; instead, I should be trying to get my memories back and leave this place.

"Orin cares about you, a lot, I must say," she spat out.

"No, he doesn't. He is the most selfish and nonchalant man I have ever seen..."

Not that I even remembered the type of men I had been interested in, but I knew a man like Orin wouldn't be my type.

"Orin is the finest of men, heck finer than the king." She snorted. "But he does have his flaws which still make him beautiful either way."

"I have my own demons to worry about. So, no time to think about boy drama."

"What demons?" She questioned as her eyes became probing and intense.

I looked at her as I stopped the scrubbing, before turning my back to the sink. I took a deep sigh and when I released the sound filled the room.

"I... Um..." I shot a sharp look at her again and her eyes were focused on me, like she was keen on what I wanted to say.

I didn't know what that was, but I had a listening ear and that was enough, and the thought of sharing the whole ordeal made me nauseous, but it was in some way relieving.

"Come on, Kae. You can trust me," she assured me as she smiled.

"Um... I have been having these episodes and I can't tell if they are just dreams or if they are actually my memories, but I see them almost every night. I don't know what to do about them, Myra." I let out a sigh of relief to have gotten it off my chest.

She moved closer to where I stood and placed a hand on my arm. Her body was cold-- way too cold. I had treated lots of lycans to know that they are meant to be warm-bodied, but hers were like ice, and it sent shivers down my body.

"What do you see? Maybe I can help you out," she said.

"For one, um... I saw myself along a riverbank bank but I have no idea where it was specifically..." I took a loud swallow as my chest tightened thinking about it. "I was covered in blood and I held a sword, but beside me was a man..."

"A man?" She inquired. "Do you know his face or have you seen him around?"

"No and that's the interesting part. No matter how long I stay stuck in the dream or wanting to force myself to remember, I still can't see his face clearly; instead, it is covered by a ray of light."

"Tricky," she said as she stroked her jaw and her eyes were raking over me but then she clapped her hands. "I have an idea that can help," she blurted out, almost too soon.

"What is that?" My eyes widened in shock or anticipation-- I had no idea what but if it was to get more clarity then I was opened to it.

"We need to go see someone," she urged. "She will gladly help but you must be willing to share too."

Share?

She??

"Who..."

"Come on, we need to get there on time," she said excitedly as she closed the basket and took me by the hand, before dragging me out of the room.

Soren’s povI had barely sat on the throne when the door was forced open. Three men came in, in fast strides like it was urgent.I didn't even let them settle themselves since they had disturbed my sleep that morning. “What are the plans for the invasion?” I asked, my eyes wandering around the men that stood before me.“We are stronger, no doubts but they are larger in numbers than us,” One of my commanders said.I let out a short but heavy laugh. “That better not be why you woke me up way too early this morning,” I threatened.“My lord,” the men voiced out in one voice, bowing their heads.I stood up from the seat and walked slowly, each steps were taken with great precision to exert fear and power. I had come to learn that power wasn't gotten by groveling or be kind, rather it was meant to be taken.I had held this seat as King not because I was weak, instead I had it because I was brutal and that made me one of the most fearsome King in all of the seven kingdoms. Orin’s PovI couldn’t stop myself from kissing her— her scent drew me in… I didn’t want to stop. This was like how I had imagined it… her lips were so soft. My free hand cupped her boobs as I felt her tense under my hand. Her moan turned me on and I could hear Veythar roaring in my head.‘Yes! Go on, claim her,’ he commanded as his voice boomed in my chest. My hands roamed all over her body— exploring and trying to take in every inch of her body. Her moans had gotten less faint than they were before.I picked her up and damn she was light— like a feather weight. She wrapped her legs round my waist as she held my neck tighter but didn’t break the kiss. She went in deeper and rougher than she had before. Her nails dug deep into my skin, sending a sharp sting of pain through my body but it was a pleasurable pain that I didn’t want to end.Slowly, I moved whilst still carrying her to the bedroom. I had to give her the utmost Orin Ashvale special.I placed her gently on the wooden table

Kaelis’ povI was running.I was running in the woods… but I wasn’t running away from danger, instead I was laughing and alive.A good time.“You need to slow down, Crimson,” a voice called out from the woods.“No chance,” I said giggling, turning back, then I headed forward but stopped when I got to a cliff. The water flowed from the mountain in a narrow line into the vast river that in turn flowed into the sea.The beauty of nature had always left me mesmerized and the goddess did indeed do a great job.“You are trying to make me fail the test?” The voice called out from the woods again. It felt familiar like I knew who the voice had belonged to but couldn’t place a name or face.“Come see this,” I beckoned the person to come and look at the beauty of nature that I was soaking in. “Isn’t it beautiful?”“Yes, it is,” the voice finally came out from the woods and his face shined with the light— so bright I couldn’t see who it was but I was happy. Heck, the happiest that I had been in

Myra’s PovI should not have gone there but still I found myself answering his call— as usual. When it came to Orin, I tend to lose my self-will and bend to whatever he asked of me. He was my biggest flaw and damn it, if I don’t get my feelings under control— I might harm Kaelis. I didn’t want her to be in the crosshairs of whatever was going on between Orin and I.‘What if she is his mate?’ Isla— my lycan roared.“His mate?” I spit out. “She is a Luna who doesn’t know who she is. How can she be his mate?”‘We can’t rule out the possibility,’ she was restless.“She is a wolf and cannot be his mate. Besides, Orin doesn’t have a mate, does he?” I asked as I tried to shake off the unease I felt.‘None that we know of. His last mate died because she wasn’t strong enough to accept his lycan,’ “She wasn’t his mate but he let her die, regardless,” I snorted.I knew about the curse that had plagued Orin but had sworn to not tell anyone but he kept treating me like I was nothing— just his se

Orin’s povI was staring at Kaelis’s lifeless body on my bed. I had brought her to the one place that I could keep her safe. Her fingers were pale, lying lifeless on the blanket and I couldn’t move. My arms felt heavy, my stomach twisted. My throat felt tight, and every beat of my heart echoed like a drum.My hands itched to touch her, to make sure she was real, but I stayed frozen, afraid that even a small movement could shatter something fragile inside her. My eyes traced the curve of her jaw, the soft line of her cheek, the shaking of her eyelids as she breathed. She looked peaceful, almost unaware of the chaos she had survived, but my body shook with guilt and fear.“Dammit,” I muttered, pacing back and forth, the floor creaking beneath my feet. ‘You’re staring too hard. She’s alive and not dead— at least not yet. Stop pacing, Orin. It makes you look like a caged animal.’ Veythar groaned.I growled under my breath, stopping mid-step. My hands clenched into fists at my sides. “Sh
