SERAPHINA

I shouldn’t have come here, I had let those sneaky vile bitter girls get into my head , what the hell was I thinking. My heart was pounding like I’d stolen something just by stepping into this damn place. The hallway was already packed with people, bodies brushing past mine, laughter spilling like loud tasteless, annoyingly irritating loud music pulsing through the walls so deep it felt like my ribs were vibrating with it. Everything shimmered, people wore gold masks, glass eyes, silk skirts, floating lights. Magic. It was thick in the air, humming over my skin like static.

Everyone wore masks. Elegant, strange, animalistic. Some had feathers, some had scales that glowed faintly in the dark, some even shimmered with shifting colors like the skin of a dragon. I didn’t understand at first. I just thought—oh, it’s a theme, whatever. Until I realized everyone knew what this was. Everyone except me.

I tugged my own mask lower over my face, trying to blend in. It was plain, sil

  • Mated To The Monster Boys   Chapter 9

Seraphina’s POV Beautiful light pouring onto dry ground at the academy, dropping in the mist that never cleared Noxshade. Magic that hardly grazed the air as mortals hurled spell upon spell. We were doing Practical Training for Elements, and even I couldn’t help but admit it was pretty once. They clumped out of the grass. Some hung in small tight bunches, strings of fire and strings of light trembling between them as they stretched across. Witches were calling vines with flowers blooming mid-air; fae pupils floated across the lawn, wings sparkling like fragments of rainbow-colored glass in the sun.And me?I stood by myself, notebook clutched tightly in my hands as if it would protect me from shame.Wind whipped through my hair, and I looked at them. I was so tiny compared to them. The others are so confident, so convinced of their talent, of themselves. And me, hardly sure that my fingers would not begin something if by any chance I sneezed too early.A little girl in the back of th

Professor Vale’s POVI saw her as soon as I stepped into class. No longer Seraphina Vale, you used to know — no longer the quaking, quivering girl white-knuckling her notebook — but Aerisyr. My Aerisyr. Her name rang in me as a blessing and a curse inseparable from each other. In all of them, all of the centuries of seeking, ash and shadow always, there she remained — standing in the third row, sunlight on her face, dark brown like the coal she once had been. I’d sworn to myself that I’d know this soul anywhere, in whatever guise she chose to appear. And there she stood before me: the flame that had burned alongside me in a former life. Her hair wasn’t the deep red I was accustomed to. It was softer now, lighter, darker in color, and gently flowing down to the shoulders. Her eyes, however, were still bright — dark and expressive, questioning and hurt. She was changed, but she was unchanged. Still mine.I stood frozen at the podium, unable to do more than utter a single word for a full

  • Mated To The Monster Boys   Chapter 7

Seraphina’s POVI slept not a wink at all that night of the Voidhollow attack.Every time I closed my eyes, I could see claws cutting through the air, the monster’s blank eyes glinting at me, the flames igniting from my own skin. Kael’s gold eyes had flashed with fury, Lucian’s smile had twisted with greed, and Auren had loomed as a blazing sun. Even wrapped in the blankets of my dorm bed, I could feel the burning echo of that moment. But when sleep finally claimed me, it was not the monster I had imagined. It was him.I didn’t know his name. I couldn’t make out his face very well, only glimpses — storm-grey eyes that blazed with lightning fire, the cool pressure of a mouth that grazed against mine with reverence and desire, rough and warm hands that curled around my waist and drew me into him.The dream began soft, pain-sweet. His fingers traced my jaw, moved to my neck, where his thumb rested upon the pain of my pulse. His eyes’ heat didn’t frighten me, merely starved. He puffed sof

SeraphinaClasses were finally over for the day. I was back in my room. Everyone could have their dinner wherever they wanted. So I decided to eat in my room, and also because I wanted to keep practicing a spell from a class earlier. According to the teacher, it was the simplest spell, and yet I couldn’t do it.After so many failed attempts, I decided to go for a change of environment. I put on a cardigan over my nightwear and left the room. No one said anything about wandering around at night, so I guess there is no such curfew like that.Looking for a spot was hard, after many turns, hopefully I found my way back to the dorm. After a while, I found a gym, an old gym, probably because it was filled with old chairs and tables. The only light was from the moon coming in through the dirty windows. I walked in and found a spot to sit cross-legged. I opened the notebook where I wrote the spells. One was a simple light spell, the second one was for wind, like a tiny blow of wind, while the

  • Mated To The Monster Boys   CHAPTER 5

SeraphinaThe corridor was too quiet and still as I felt Lucian’s fang on my teeth. It felt like he was about to puncture me with them. I couldn’t move, my heart pounding loudly as I was still like a statue. He wasn’t even holding me tightly, but it felt like that. Maybe his presence and it was scary. “Mine.” He murmured, his voice sounding like silk and at the same time dangerous. I could have pushed him away, done something to free myself. But I couldn’t. “I’m not yours,” I said to him, although my voice lacked courage and conviction. He chuckled lowly, his mouth still hovering around my neck. “You say that, but your pulse says otherwise. Don’t lie to me, little flame, your body is telling me everything that I need to know.”I struggled in his hold, but Lucian only held me tighter. It wasn’t painful, but I couldn’t even wiggle this time. “Let go.” I glared at him as much as I could because he was behind me. He only smirked, looking at my neck. I swallowed hard, which was probabl
