THERON

I shouldn’t be out here. Not when Lucian’s expecting me to be knee-deep in planning with Caelum and the elders. But the moment my scouts told me about my mate, about where she’d been sighted along the border, I couldn’t ignore it.

My mate.

The word itself makes my chest feel like it’s splitting open. For days I’ve tried to shove it down, bury it under loyalty, under my duty to Lucian and the pack. But my wolf won’t let me forget. The bond doesn’t loosen. It keeps dragging me like a chain.

And now, here I am, crouched at the edge of the woods with four warriors behind me, the night thick with tension.

“She’s in the camp,” Maren, one of my scouts, whispers. “They’ve got it guarded, but… she’s there. I swear it.”

My throat tightens. I don’t even have to ask how he knows. I can feel her. I grit my teeth, nodding once. “We move quick. No mistakes. In and out.”

The warriors nod. They trust me. They always have. I just don’t trust myself right now.

We break from the treeline, shadows

LUCIANI slam my hands against the training post again. The wood splits down the middle, sending shards flying all over the training yard. The warriors watching from the sides exchange uneasy looks but no one dares to speak.“Again,” I bark, even though my palms are bleeding.Caelum stands a few feet away, arms crossed, watching me like he’s deciding whether to stop me or not. “You’re bleeding,” he says finally.“I’ve been bleeding since the day they took her,” I mutter. He sighs, steps closer. “Keep this up and you’ll burn out before you even find where she is.”“I don’t need rest, I need answers,” I snap, whirling toward him. “You said your spies are tracking Orion’s movements. Where the hell are they now?”Caelum meets my eyes evenly. “They’re working. You’re not the only one who lost someone, Alpha Lucian.”That shuts me up. I know what he means, but the anger still doesn’t go away. It sits in my chest like a ticking bomb, shaking me from the inside. I turn away before he can see

LEAHI’m half-asleep when I hear the scrape of the cage door. My body stiffens instantly, every sound in this place usually means more pain. But this sound is different. It’s softer, and a little hesitant.“Leah,” a low voice whispers.I blink, trying to focus. A boy, no, not a boy exactly. He looks young, maybe close to Lucian’s age, with sharp features and dark hair that falls into his eyes. He’s crouched by the bars, his hands moving quick, slipping something small through the gap. It’s food. A hunk of bread, a strip of dried meat.My throat goes tight. “What… what are you doing?” My voice comes out rough, cracked from days of screaming.“Keeping you alive,” he says flatly. His eyes flick around, scanning the hall. “Eat fast. If the guards see…”“Why?” I cut him off, suspicion lacing my words. Nobody here has shown me kindness here.He hesitates, then mutters, “Because you don’t belong here. And because I can’t just keep watching him like this anymore.”I freeze. “Him?”He leans cl

LUCIANI sit at the long oak table in the conference room, elbows on the surface, fingers pressed hard against my temples. The only sleep that has touched me in days was when I fainted, and I woke up almost immediately. The door creaks open, snapping me out of my thoughts, but I don’t look up until I hear Theron’s voice. “They’re here.”My head snaps up. “Who?”“King Caelum,” he says flatly. A sharp tension rolls through me. I shove my chair back so hard it screeches against the floor. Caelum. The last time he set foot here, we nearly tore into each other. If he’s back now, I'm sure it isn’t for pleasantries.I storm through the hall, my blood pounding in my ears. The guards push open the doors to the main hall before I even touch them. Caelum stands inside like he owns the place, tall, armored, his silver crown catching the firelight. His violet eyes lock on me, steady and unflinching. Two fae guards stand behind him, cloaks trailing across my polished floors like they belong her

LEAHThe familiar sound of boots on stone makes my chest tighten. I don’t even need to see her to know who it is, Evelyn. Her presence clings to the air like smoke, suffocating me.She steps into view, her lips curved in that cruel little smirk. “Well, look at you. Still trying so hard” She tilts her head as if she’s admiring me. “Honestly, I’m impressed. Most wolves would have begged to die by now.”I don’t answer. My throat is already raw, my voice cracked from too many screams. If I open my mouth, I know she’ll only enjoy it more. Her eyes glitter. “Oh baby, giving me the silent treatment again? That’s fine. I brought something new for you today.”She signals, and two black-eyed wolves drag in a crate. The smell of metal hits me before I see what’s inside. Silver tools. Blades, hooks, clamps, each one looking crueler than the last. My stomach twists. She crouches in front of my cage, sliding the blade through the bars and nicking my arm before I can move. The sting is instant, the

LUCIANSleep doesn’t come easy anymore. When it does, it’s worse than being awake.Every time I close my eyes, Leah’s there, bloodied, screaming, trapped in chains I can’t seem to reach, not to talk of break. Her voice cuts through me like a blade, her pain echoing through our bond even if it’s faint and it’s like it’s not there.I jolt awake, chest heaving, and sweat sticking to my skin like a second layer. My heart pounds so hard I can hear it, like it’s trying to tear its way out of my ribcage.“Leah…” I whisper into the dark, but it’s useless. There’s no answer, just silence. The rage hits next, it always does. My fists slam into the bedframe, splintering wood. I throw the table across the room, hearing it shatter against the wall. My breathing turns heavy, uneven. Fenrir claws at the edges of my mind, wanting out, wanting to burn the world until there’s nothing left but ash.My vision blurs, golden light bleeding at the corners as I lose my grip. My nails lengthen, sharp against
