Samantha's Pov

There was a vibration in the air. Aldrina was restless.

Something big was definitely going to happen today. It annoyed me that I wasn't sure what it would be.

My hands paused above the door handle. I had been summoned by the council, I think that they had gotten to a general conclusion.

Was that what would happen? Was I just misinterpreting my nerves as something else?

It won't hurt to be prepared. I turned and pulled out the box from under my bed.

The twin blades called to me, I answered by picking them up. I hid them in my dress once they were sheathed and left the room.

Bryon gave me his usual nod when I opened the door and we left.

I thought about Killain on the way. He has really done a lot for me and a part of me felt like hurting his father was a terrible way to pay him back.

The other part of me though…that part wanted blood.

I know I won't be satisfied with Rick being locked up or just killed in one blow. I wanted him to hurt, to scream, to break.
