Chapter 10

Alpha Malakai's POV;

As I sat on my executive chair, behind my desk, I fixed my gaze on my computer screen and researched Rylee's profile on my pack's profile page.

Rylee Martin. She was a twenty-year-old Omega, and her parents were late, as she had a younger brother, Levi Martin.

I frowned, recalling the last rogue attack before my father ordered a huge wall to be built to fence the entire Dark Shadow Pack.

It has been more than fifteen years since the last attack of the rogues on our pack members.

I had not thought of Rylee to be a victim of the rogue attacks. Was that why she didn't have a wolf or a scent?

I was undoubtedly worried about her.

However, I clicked on Rylee's page to go through her profile. As I searched for her social media page online, to my surprise, I was met with pictures of Rylee and Nash Cameron standing together and holding hands.

They were close, and I assumed Nash was her boyfriend. My intuition was right as I wondered why Nash had rushed up to meet her when he arrived at the 7th floor of this pack hotel, alongside the lady whom I assumed was Rylee's friend.

My fist clenched, and my wolf growled in my head, as he was not pleased with the sight of Rylee and Nash together.

They held hands, laughing together in some of the short video clips on Rylee's page as I kept scrolling down her page to see more pictures about her.

Rylee was beautiful, though she wasn't the classy type of woman. She was still tall, with a beautiful face and long blonde hair. She has the most sexy pair of legs that I had never seen before, and I felt the tightness in my pants, recalling my encounter with her the previous night.

However, my wolf was a little calm when I didn't see any pictures of Rylee and Nash kissing. But I knew that Nash proposed to his mate last night. So what was his affair with Rylee?

Also, I wanted to see Nash mainly because I wanted to offer him a job.

I discussed this with my mother this morning, who was not pleased with my father placing a tough hold on my eldest sister and her husband.

Mom wanted me to offer a job to Nash to help him since I cannot help his mother. She broke our pack's law, and that was rejecting her fated mate.

"Mmm..." I exhaled, looking at Rylee's profile as an idea popped in my head.

"Should I inform Nash that he has to stay away from Rylee and to accept my new job offer for him to work in my company's cyber security?" I smiled at my thoughts, but I shook my head.

"No, that would be obvious, and Nash would suspect me as to why I would have to tell him that." I sighed, thinking of what to do to keep Nash away from Rylee. Though they seem like friends, but after knowing that Rylee was mine, even though I couldn't have her, I wanted to keep her safe and away from any man in this pack.

My office doorbell rang, indicating to me about someone's arrival.

At the same time, my office telephone on my vast desk rang out, and I reached for it and saw that my secretary, Mrs. Elsa Dominic, was the one calling me. She was a married woman with two kids, as I don't like having single and unmated she-wolves working closely to my office and to avoid any form of distraction.

"Hello," I answered her call, my voice sounding smooth.

"Alpha, Mr. Nash Cameron is here to see you. He said that Beta Fabian ordered for him to come here to the top floor," Elsa said, and I sighed.

"Let him in," I replied and ended the call.

A few minutes later, my office door unlocked, and my nephew Nash Cameron came in.

Nash looked tense as he entered my vast workspace. As my office was very spacious and featured a private bar and a set of four couches if I needed to relax.

However, I was seated behind the desk, as I fixed my gaze on Nash, who came in with a proud smile on his face.

"Good morning, Alpha," he greeted me politely, and I gestured for him to have a seat.

"Take a seat," my voice came out as barely a command, and Nash came forward and sat across from me on the first guest chair, as I had two guest chairs in my office.

His face appeared tense as he sat across from me.

I remember that Nash had submitted his application to me a month ago, and I told him that I would get back to him, but I was still negotiating about it. Before my mother called me this morning to help Nash and that I was the current alpha of this pack.

"Did you know why I summoned you here?" I asked Nash, and he smiled and cleared his throat.

"No, uncle. I have no idea," he said, and he looked worried.

"Well, it's about your application to work for me in my company's cyber security. This involves the practice of protecting my computer systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access, misuse, or modification. It involves a combination of technologies, processes, and procedures designed to prevent and mitigate cyberattacks. Are you aware of that? As I saw that you have distinction in your resume?" I asked Nash, and he smiled.

"Yes, Uncle."

"Tell me, how were you able to go to the pack's University as I am sure that my eldest sister who is your mother and her husband couldn't afford to sponsor you," I said, my gaze fixated on Nash's face.

"Well, uncle, I was able to do some part-time job and with the help of my girlfriend, Rylee Martin," Nash replied, and my fist clenched as I kept a neutral face.

"Rylee Martin," I said her name like I didn't know who Nash was talking about.

"Yes, Alpha. She worked as a cleaner here, and she was able to help me with my studies. I owe her a lot," Nash smiled, and I nodded.

"That's good. But you got engaged last night to Bella Harvey, who happened to be my Beta's younger sister. I hope that you are aware that you are not to cheat on your mate with Rylee and also, you cannot reject your mate," I said, feeling satisfaction as I saw Nash's face drop.

"Well, I know, Alpha. But I already promised to marry Rylee."

"Well, you have to keep your distance from Rylee. If you want me to offer you the employment as my Network Security staff, which involves protecting the network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, and switches, from unauthorized access and attacks, with a paycheck of 300,000 monthly for a starter. I hope that you can do that and abide by my pack rules."
