Kayden’s pov

I was still trying to steady my breathing, the crisp night air making me shiver. My hands were still balled into fists, and my arm still stung from that guy’s knife. I should have gone home. But I just needed… I didn’t know what I needed. Some air maybe? Everything happened too quickly in there.

Then I heard footsteps by my right, slow and rhythmic along with the chilled breeze. I turned to see who it was as I saw it was the dude from training earlier who’d taken me down was now at my side.

He smirked seeing my expression which frankly, I wasn’t surprised by. “You really made a disaster of things in there, didn’t you?” He asked with his cool even tone.

I raised an eyebrow at him. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“The place is practically in ruins. Bodies everywhere.” He tilted his head back towards the bar I’d just come from. “Not bad for a prince.”

I stopped moving and looked at him. “You were in there?”

He shrugged, not breaking his stride. “I was.”
