Raven's POV

I woke up feeling like my head had been stuffed with cotton and my throat was lined with sandpaper. Usually, werewolves are hardy creatures. We heal fast and rarely catch the common bugs that plague humans. But as an Omega, my body was always a bit more fragile. The previous night’s antics in the rain had finally caught up with me.

I groaned and pulled the duvet tighter around my shoulders. I didn't feel like moving, let alone getting out of bed. I just wanted to sink into the matt

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

Darian's POV My throat was parched. Between the stuffy air of the hall and the endless, circular conversations with my Alphas, I felt like I’d been swallowed by a desert. My men had come to me with the same concerns the advisors had voiced earlier, concerns I had already addressed in my letters, but they were insistent. They wanted reassurances I wasn't willing to waste more time on.My cousin had at least provided some relief. He’d briefed me on the state of the Southern borders, proving once again how capable he was. Storm wasn't his real name, of course. My mother had let that secret slip once, though she was usually too busy fawning over him to be useful. His family was shrouded in secrecy and strange traditions, but as long as the South remained stable under his watch, I didn't care to pry into his mysteries.I moved toward the drinks table, my eyes settling on a row of glasses filled with a deep, crimson wine. I chose the one closest to the edge. It was cool to the touch, the c

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

Valen's POVYou know, parties are usually my thing. I love anything that loosens inhibitions and actually looks like fun. I like loud music, strong drinks, and the kind of energy that makes your wolf want to howl at the ceiling. But as I looked around at the wolves milling about, trying to maintain stiff social interactions, my vibe died immediately. I knew this couldn’t be a raving party, but what was this bleak mess? The Alphas were standing around like they had sticks shoved up their spines. They didn't have to act so stuck up just to prove they were strict and domineering. Power should be felt, not performed like a bad stage play.I looked around for my companions. Darian and Raven had already gone in different directions. I spotted Raven across the room where she was surrounded by a group of female Alphas. They seemed quite taken with her, leaning in and discussing something in low, hushed tones. Knowing female Alphas, it was probably something about men or lineage—things I defin

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

Raven's POV "You look gorgeous, Raven," Darian said, his voice dropping into that smooth, cool tone that always made my heart skip."Absolutely stunning," Valen added, his eyes raking over me with a bluntness that would have made me shrink away days ago. Now, it just made me feel seen.I felt the heat rising to my cheeks. "Thank you," I whispered, smoothing the midnight-blue fabric of my gown. "I actually feel pretty. You both look... well, you look like Kings."It wasn't an exaggeration. Darian in his white and gold looked like the embodiment of the sun, while Valen in his dark furs and silver looked like the king of the winter itself. I stepped between them, and together we left the quiet sanctuary of our lounge. The ball was being held in the same massive space where we had all been addressed on our first day at the mansion. Walking toward it now felt strange. It felt like that first day had happened months ago, even though it had only been a few weeks. Back then, I was a serving

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

Raven's POV"Have a seat, Raven," Elder Fabian said, his voice as dry as old parchment.I didn't like the way they were all staring at me. I walked over to the corner, dumped my new library books in a pile, and sat down in the small space beside Darian. The tension in the room was so thick I felt like I could reach out and snap it.Elder Fabian looked between the three of us, his expression calm. "How have you all been?"Valen let out a low, irritated grunt that served as his response. Darian, ever the diplomat, gave a polite nod. "Good, Elder. We are adjusting."I didn't bother to answer. I just wanted them to get to the point. Why were they sitting in our lounge looking like they were about to tell us some bad news?Elder Matilda, whose blind-looking eyes still unnerved me, turned her head toward me. "And the bond, child? Is it still the same? No shifts? No leaning toward one side or the other?""It’s the same," I said quietly. I could feel both Darian and Valen stiffen beside me at

The previous night’s antics in the rain had finally caught up with me.I groaned and pulled the duvet tighter around my shoulders. I didn't feel like moving, let alone getting out of bed. I just wanted to sink into the mattress and disappear.A soft knock sounded at the door. "Enter," I croaked. The door swung open and Darian stepped in. He was already dressed for the day in a crisp, charcoal-grey shirt that made his amber eyes pop. He stopped at the foot of my bed, frowning. "It’s already eight in the morning, Raven. You’re usually up by now.""I'm... I'm a bit down today," I said. My voice cracked mid-sentence, sounding like a rusted hinge.Darian didn't hesitate. He dashed to my side, his cool palm finding my f

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

Valen's POVIt was like an out-of-body experience for me. My entire life had been a series of battles, cold nights, and the crushing weight of a crown I never asked for. Because of that hard life and my own volatile personality, I had never really cared for women. In werewolf tradition, most of us waited for our mates. While some didn't care and slept around, multiple sexual activities between non-mates were usually frowned upon. I fell into the category of those who just couldn't be bothered.Technically, as a King, I could have had any woman I wanted. There were plenty who practically threw themselves at me, probably drawn to the dangerous aura I exuded or the power I held. But I wasn't interested. I had been consumed with rage and anger for so long that there was no room for lust.Since meeting Raven, that had changed. She was like a cooling balm on a burn. I was finally starting to feel some peace, but with that peace came a sudden awareness of my own desires. And man, they weren'

Darian's POV Watching them lead Raven toward the center of the courtyard made my jaw tighten. Valen’s POVBlood. It was everywhere. It pooled in the grooves of the stone floor, dark and thick. My claws were stained a deep, messy crimson. Why was there so much? Raven's POVAfter the elders were finally satisfied that the Kings weren't going to tear each other’s throats out again, they called for a temporary truce. They ordered Darian and Valen to go their separate ways to get patched up properly and announced that the Peace Summit festivities would contin

Raven's POVMy legs felt like they were made of jelly as I walked toward them. Every eye in the clearing was glued to me, but I kept my head down, focusing on the grass until I reached them."Look at me," the man said.I slowly lifted my chin. He had this aura around him that made it almost impossi
