Alpha Lucien’s POV

Only one day remained until the sacrifice.

I sat back on my throne-like chair in the center of the war room, fingers steepled beneath my chin, eyes fixed on the dancing flames in the hearth across the room. The heat warmed the stone walls, but it did little to soothe my hunger for power.

One day.

Just one more day, I would become the powerful Alpha and I would sever the final tie that tethered Kael and Aria’s hearts. I would break them completely, mind, body, soul. And then, I would rebuild them under my control, piece by broken piece.

I had waited long enough.

The child, Gracie’s bastard pup, was the final key. Not for any emotional reason, of course. I didn’t care whose womb had carried the boy. What mattered was what he carried inside him. That child was born of Kael’s bloodline and tied to Aria through the prophecy. His blood would awaken the altar. His death would unlock the sacrifice.

And I would be unstoppable.

I let out a slow exhale, smiling to myself.

  • Mated to my Stepfather, claimed by my Stepbrother   One hundred and thirty-three

Aria’s POVSeeing Alpha Lucien here again made my stomach twist with unease. It wasn’t just his presence. It was his power. That pull. That weight. The raw, pulsing energy that crashed through the air the moment he entered the pack’s territory. He hadn’t even said a word yet, but he had already spoiled everything.Everything I was working toward. Everything I was about to finish.Last night was supposed to be the final step, the gathering of strength, the claiming of my full birthright. All the Alphas sleeping under my roof, under my roof, trusting me. But the moment Lucien stepped in, the energy shifted. The balance broke. And whatever I had summoned… fled. And now, this.Gracie’s pup.Here.In my pack?It didn’t make sense. How could that be possible? My eyes scanned the faces around me as I stood on the upper terrace, looking down at the courtyard. There was confusion. Suspicion. But no clear answers. Only questions swirling in the air like smoke.Where was the pup? With who?My mi

Gracie’s POVI watched them argue like wild beasts, their words sharp, their tempers rising. Lucien paced like a lion, his voice cold and commanding. Kael stood his ground, fists clenched, jaw set like stone. Aria stood between them, calm but fierce, her eyes filled with warning. But none of it mattered to me.None of it.All that mattered was my child. My pup.My heart thumped wildly in my chest, a heavy beat I could feel in my throat. My arms ached to hold him again. My mind raced, trying to think of how to get to him. I didn’t care what they were saying, or who was right, or what they thought they knew.I just wanted my baby back.“No…” The word slipped from my lips without warning. “Nothing must happen to my child.”I didn’t even realize I’d spoken aloud until everyone turned to look at me. Kael’s brow furrowed. Aria narrowed her eyes. Even Lucien paused.Tavin stepped closer, placing a hand on my shoulder.“Gracie,” he whispered, “stay calm.”“I am calm,” I said through clenched

Kael’s POV“What kind of air happened at midnight?” I heard one of the palace maids whisper.I paused at the edge of the hallway, body tense, instincts alert. I wasn’t eavesdropping, not exactly. But something about the way she said it made my gut twist. A bad feeling had been building in my chest since last night. Whatever happened, it wasn’t ordinary.I took a quiet step closer, careful not to alert them. I knew what it looked like , a whole Alpha’s mate eavesdropping on gossip , but I didn’t care. Something about the night had changed, and I needed to know if anyone else felt it too.“The air was so strange,” the second maid replied, her voice a little louder. “It didn’t feel like wind. It was cold… but not cold. It passed through me. It felt like something… breathing.”The first one shivered. “I couldn’t sleep. I thought I saw shadows moving outside my window.”I frowned, my thoughts spinning. They weren’t exaggerating. I’d felt it too a shift in the atmosphere, a pulse, like

Alpha Lucien’s POVI felt a strange power jolt me from sleep. It wasn’t a dream. It wasn’t a whisper. It was a pull. A deep, ancient pull that rose from the base of my spine and curled into my skull like smoke. I sat up in bed, drenched in sweat, heart pounding hard and fast. The air in the room was too still. Too thick. Even the shadows on the wall seemed to be listening.Something was happening.Something that had my name in its bones.I climbed out of bed and opened the window. The wind brushed against my face, warm and trembling with energy I couldn’t explain. And in that moment, I knew one thing for certain, that pack was not what it seemed. The one they call Aria’s.The one Kael now stood beside.I had walked into it thinking I could conquer them from within. That by accepting the invitation, I could gain their trust, infiltrate their ranks, and cut off their power at the root. But now… the power I just felt… it wasn’t welcoming me.It was warning me.No one else seemed to notic

Aria’s POVAll the Alphas were sleeping in my pack tonight. They thought I summoned them just to discuss the mysterious bloodline letter… to find out who dared to claim a place in my family’s name. But that wasn’t the real reason. Not entirely.I sat at the center of the old meeting hall, surrounded by quiet, ancient walls built by the ancestors of our kind. The torches along the stone columns flickered with a strange orange hue, casting shadows that moved like whispering ghosts.I wasn’t going to close my eyes tonight. Not even for a second. Not until daylight crawled through the windows and lit up the stained-glass moon carved into the east wall.Let them rest.Let them snore beneath the silk covers we offered in hospitality. But I would not rest.Because tonight… I had work to do.They all believed I had summoned them to investigate the claim about another child of my father. That was partly true. But deep in my bones, I knew something bigger was coming. I could feel it like thunde

Gracie’s POVThe fire had long gone out, but the cold wouldn’t leave my bones.I sat on the wooden bench outside the safe house, my arms wrapped tightly around myself though I wasn’t shivering. I couldn’t cry anymore. There were no more tears to give. My baby… my son… he was gone.Mama sat close beside me, her hand on my back. She hadn’t said much since the day Rhea vanished. The blood on the ground still stained the stone behind the house, even after the rain. They said it was enough to confirm what we feared, but I never saw his body.Tavin paced back and forth a few feet away, his boots kicking up loose dirt. He hadn’t rested in days, hadn’t eaten much either. He was muttering again, trying to piece things together in his head.“I told her not to trust them,” he said for the fifth time. “I told her…”My eyes wandered to the spot where Rhea used to sit and feed my pup. That space now looked so empty, it made my heart ache.Everything felt strange. Too clean. Too silent. Too… incomp
