43 - To Amuse One’s Thoughts

Alpha Kai did not care about their looks. Abramo stood by his side all the while, whispering nothing to him to soften his mind but I did.

"My Lord, in as much as I do not wish to interfere in matters like this, I will like to mention to you that what you have said to this tribe today is evil! How, tell me, do you conveniently repay good with bad?"

I asked him although in a hush. He turned to look at me.

"You do not know anything about this, woman. You know not what my aim is,"

He replied through gritted teeth.

"I do not give a damn about your selfish ambitions! What aim keeps you from supporting the people who helped you only a few days ago? Even the Moon Goddess, will be displeased at your indifference towards this pack who had helped you in the past,"

I said.

He looked menacingly at me but I did not back down. I stared at him in the eyes and i knew that the men, all of them in the hall had stopped murmuring and their attention was now focused on me and Alpha Kai.
