I was led inside the tent by my two abductors. It was then I began to worry. What if Alpha Kai knew nothing of such small tribe who seemed to be living too far away from Valmore in a secluded piece of land? They looked primitive. Like they had no contact with other Packs and so they lived on the basic items they could find. I entered the tenth and was amazed at how vast it was inside. The men who had abducted me bowed low to the man who sat on a high stool and exuded an aura of command. "She is the Luna of Valmore. She is the one which you seek, my Lord," One of the men said as he tossed me forward. I was confused. They knew me? A tribe I knew absolutely nothing about knew me and their Alpha wanted me. For what reason?I had no idea…"What do you want from me? I do not have an affiliation with you neither does Valmore," I spat angrily. The Alpha rose to his feet, his hand casually resting on his sword. I took a step back, hoping I would not be hurt. A tide of panic arose in
I lowered my gaze with an effort and decided to remain silent even though I had the nagging desire to demand why I was being kept hostage and what it was they claimed I was owing them. I only wished that the Moon Goddess led Alpha Kai and his entourage to the tribe. My mind reminded me again of the pack members I had seen outside and the feeling of sympathy was again aroused in me. I wondered where they had water to drink. We had galloped through hills and valleys and thick dry bushes but not once had I seen a swamp or a lagoon or a river. There had been no water body at all. Did they perhaps, wait until it rained before they could have water? I was lost in thought as I sat there. I was hungry and thirsty but nothing had been offered me. I would have declined anyways. Alpha Kai's POV Abramo had been with me all day. We had galloped into the wild and had made our way to the tribe which he was against. I wanted them to stay and Abramo's counsel on the matter had no effect on me.
Katara’s POVAs I blasted those words him, he raised one eyebrow quizzically before turning around to look at the room, in an exaggerated gesture. I was angry and visibly shaking from the difficulty that came with trying to suppress my anger "You spit so much fury, Luna of Valmore," He said as he took a step forward, regarding me closely, his gaze fixed on me. "Do not evade my question. I am not stupid and I demand an answer. Why have you taken my jewelries?!" I asked again. This time, angrier and more daring. He stood towering above me, unmoving and unwavering by my snarls and flashing eyes. "You will speak calmly to me. I am not your subject and I will tolerate no mean words from an ordinary she wolf.” He said the words calmly and bitingly. The words were intended to hurt me and shred whatever little pride he thought I possessed. "I see how wildly you make efforts to belittle me. I will not have you say mean words to me before my face, now, my jewelry!" I thundered as I stoo
Katara’s POVHe was mad with fury as he began to walk towards us, leaving all who had been with him. The Alpha of the tribe looked on confused and then suddenly, said. "Make no attempt to get your Luna while we are yet to resolve a conflict. I shall have her throat slit if you take hold of her. Do not move any closer or she would be dead at my command," The Alpha said. It was then my eyes rested on all that had been standing. On one side were Kai's men and the fighters of Valmore, while on the other side stood members of the savage pack. I had not known that they had such number of men. I was surprised when I saw the men in their numbers, all holding swords and ready for a fight. Where had they been when I first arrived? In the woods? Was it a peaceful dialogue Kai intended with the savage pack? Surely not. "You would do no such thing. Lay one hand on Katara and you shall be wiped out for eternity. Your men will keep their filthy hands off her now or there would be a history o
Katara’s POVI was instantly surprised as I blinked away the mist that had began to form in my eyes from the pressure of the wind…"I had been looking for a nice spot to rest my head and have some peace and quiet.”I lied. Since I was not facing him, he could not see the expression on my face and that was a relief. "You wanted peace and quiet so far away from Valmore? Where you that mindless that you did not realize how far away you were from Valmore until you were eventually taken hostage?" He asked. I felt the slight note of anger in his tone… He was berating me. Did that mean he had been very worried? "I was not mindless. I did not know that the men had been looking for an opportunity to get me.” I said. "You left on your own. You discarded dresses and disguised yourself in breeches so you could make your way out of the castle, unseen," "Well, I can take care of myself!" " I see how well you did just that. Take care of yourself indeed.” We sat quiet on the horse for long. A
Abramo met me in the courts the next morning. "Alpha, a good day to you, indeed.”He said as he walked in. I was going through the records of the courts and I had decided amongst other things that the pack of magicians and sorcerers come to stay at Valmore so that we could learn from them. In our recent meeting with them, we had been told that they were starving. Their foods had failed and they would happily migrate to Valmore. We would accomodate them when they arrived. "A good morning to you, Abramo. What do I owe this intrusion on my private time?" "Ah. It no for no pressing reason that I am here. I beg to find out, when exactly do we expect these visitors that must live among us?" He asked. He had covered the gap that stood between where I was seated and the entrance of the door through which he had come in. I folded the scroll I had been scrutinizing and looked up at him. "Whenever, Abramo. Whenever. I do not know when they shall arrive, my Beta." He sighed. My eyes went t
Kai’s POVHell knows, I felt timid waiting there. The young man had not seen me but of course Katara knew I was somewhere watching but she had focused on her lesson as she would if I was not around to keep watch. Katara's POV By the time I finished the lessons, I did not find Kai at the same spot he had been waiting. The man had left when he thought I was safe. I had expected to find him there but he had not been. I galloped to the castle on my own and would not take the hand of the stable guard when he offered to help me alight from the horse. I did well on my own and did not crave unnecessary attention. I was inside my chambers in no time, steaming away in a tub of hot bath. Sterling and Olga were near aloof as they attended me. I had asked them to stop offering to help me do too many things and it felt good to be the one who lifted her hands to her own care. "You can both leave now.” I said to them. "You are still in the tub, my lady. Who will dry your hair and help you dr
Kai’s POVKai encouraged me. I smiled at him, an innocent small smile with the purest intentions but that triggered his hormones. The bulge on his breeches began to build and I found myself staring at the body part. Again, I had not intended anything with my stare but he looked at me and said, "That's the exact gaze that commands the loins of a man, Katara.” He said. My lips went dry and my tongue snaked out on impulse to lick it. He had not moved an inch from where he stood, now backing the window. "Perhaps, I have applied more effort than I should?" I asked. He laughed, throwing his head back in an awkward way that reminded me of the feral nature of wolves. His perfect dentition appealed to me in every way. "You possess a perfect dentition.” I said without much thought. "That is the first compliment from you, Katara. Thank you.”He had said ‘Thank you’ to me and he was holding my gaze as he spoke. I felt the strength to get up from where I was seated and walked up to him. I th
