I jerked the laces at the neckline of my cloak.

When his grip landed on my shoulder and his fist tightened, I swept my arms out from the garment and let him pull it off my shoulders.

Freeing me to run.

With him capturing only cloth, I spurred from his grip.

I'd escaped, but it unleashed hip length gold locks which had at least been held down by the cloak to be flat over my shoulder and back. Now they swirled in the wind in a wild riot of curls that flashed between the trees. Like a gold banner as I dodged through trunks.

Losing Draven for a minute, as he paused when he'd thought he had me.

That pause giving me enough time to put distance between us.

Glaring at the cloak before swearing and violently tossing it down.

Gaze locking on my back.

He’s nowhere near done with me yet. I could feel it.

Blowing a relieved breath, I slowed my pace as I worked to come up with a strategy. A way to lose him more thoroughly.
