“Ope, I guess Cade is here to see you before his day starts.” Jo looked at me.

“I swear. This man is going to be the death of me.” Standing up, Jo allowed me to use her arm as a crutch.

“Do you want to yell at Maddox?”

“Nope. Let him sweat a moment.” I whispered as we walked out.

We made it down two flights before I needed a breather. “You are moving decently.” Jo nodded patiently.

“Fucking annoying is what it is.”

Taking another breath, we kept going. By the time I hit the last set of stairs, I could hear Brett snapping at Cade. “Who’s that?” Jo asked me in a whisper.

“Brett. She is my girl and Cade’s biggest annoyance.”
