"Let me talk to him," Ryan said. He was staring at the door to the security office where Liam was being held. His hands were clenched into fists. "Give me ten minutes alone with him."

"No," Ethan replied immediately.

"I can get him to talk," Ryan insisted. "I can make him tell us where Vanessa is keeping Cora."

"By doing what exactly?" Ethan challenged. "Beating it out of him? Torturing him? That is not how this works."

"He helped kidnap our sister," Ryan said. His voice was rising. "He gave information to Vanessa knowing she was going to use it to hurt Cora. He deserves whatever happens to him."

"Maybe," Ethan agreed. "But we need information more than we need revenge. And you going in there angry is not going to get us information."

"You do not think I can control myself?" Ryan demanded.

"I think you are too close to this," Ethan replied. "Too emotional. You will go in there wanting to hurt him and he will shut down. Stop talking. Then we get nothing."

"So what is your plan?" Ryan a

They rushed Ryan inside. Caleb insisted on checking his blood alcohol level but Ryan pushed him away. "There is no time for that. We need to focus on the ransom."Marcus was already in the command center with his tech team. Setting up equipment. Pulling phone records. Preparing to trace any future calls."Give me your phone," Marcus ordered when Ryan entered. "We need to analyze the call."Ryan handed it over. Marcus connected it to their systems. Started running diagnostics."The call came from an unknown number," one of the tech specialists said. He was scrolling through data on multiple screens. "Looks like it was routed through several proxies. Bouncing between cell towers to mask the original location.""Can you trace it?" Ethan asked."Working on it," the specialist replied. His fingers flew across the keyboard. "But whoever set this up knew what they were doing. The call is encrypted. Routed through international servers. Each hop makes it harder to track."They worked for twen

  • Meet My Overprotective Brothers    Proof of Life

Ryan's brain was fuzzy. Too much scotch. Too much emotion. The voice on the phone was demanding money but Ryan could not think straight."I do not believe you," Ryan said. The words came out slurred. "You could be anyone. Some scammer who saw the news and decided to try extorting us.""This is not a scam," the voice replied sharply."Prove it then," Ryan challenged. He was standing now. Pacing his apartment. The room spinning slightly from the alcohol. "Anyone could claim they have Cora. Prove you actually have her.""I told you—" the voice started."No," Ryan interrupted. His anger cutting through the drunken haze. "You do not get to make demands without proof. You want ten million dollars? Fine. But I need to know you actually have my sister. Not just her name. Not just details from news reports. I need to hear her voice. Need her to tell me something only she would know."Silence on the other end. Ryan could hear muffled conversation. Someone talking in the background. Then the voi

  • Meet My Overprotective Brothers    The Call

Ryan drove to his apartment in the city. The one he had barely used since Cora's abduction. Everything had been happening at the estate. Command centers. Family meetings. Endless searching. But tonight he could not be there. Could not face his father or his brothers. Could not pretend everything was fine when it clearly was not.The apartment was dark when he entered. Cold. He had not been here in over a week. Mail piled up inside the door. Dust on the counters. The emptiness of a space not lived in.Ryan went straight to the bar. Pulled out a bottle of scotch. The expensive kind. Aged twenty-five years. A gift from a business partner. He poured three fingers into a crystal glass. Drank it in two swallows. Poured again. His phone buzzed. Text from Caleb. "Where did you go? Father is worried."Ryan ignored it. Drank more scotch.Another buzz. Ethan this time. "We need to talk. Please call me back."Ryan turned his phone face down on the counter. Poured another drink. He could still see

"I was talking about Ethan," Ryan said quickly. "Not me. I was accusing Ethan of having feelings for Cora. Not admitting my own."Alexander's eyes narrowed. "You were accusing your brother of having romantic feelings for your sister?""Yes," Ryan confirmed. "Because he does. Anyone with eyes can see it.""That is absurd," Ethan said. "Father, this is Ryan deflecting. Trying to distract from the fact that he wants to interrogate Liam violently.""I do not care about interrogation tactics right now," Alexander replied. He looked directly at Ryan. "I care about what you just said. About romantic feelings. About Cora. Explain yourself."Ryan hesitated. This was not how he wanted this conversation to happen. Not in a hallway. Not with everyone exhausted and emotional. Not when Cora was still missing."There is nothing to explain," Ryan said finally. "I was angry. I said something stupid. That is all.""It did not sound stupid," Alexander observed. "It sounded very specific. You accused Eth

The breakthrough came on day six. Ryan's specialized team reported they had tracked digital communications to a location thirty miles outside the city. An abandoned industrial complex that had been purchased two months ago by a shell company."This is it," one of the operatives said over encrypted phone. "Multiple heat signatures inside. Recent vehicle activity. Security measures that are way too sophisticated for an abandoned building."Ryan gathered his brothers immediately. "We have a location. High confidence. My team wants to move tonight.""What about law enforcement?" Ethan asked. "Should we bring in FBI for the extraction?""And risk the kidnappers getting spooked and killing Cora?" Ryan replied. "No. My team goes in quietly. Confirms she is there. Then we decide next steps."Alexander insisted on being part of the planning despite Caleb's objections. "She is my daughter. I am not sitting this out."They spent hours preparing. Reviewing building layouts. Planning entry points.
