The wind was blowing gently and it wasn’t helping Layla at all. She hadn’t realized how scary it was to be standing on the cliff. Jumping off could even lead to her death. But there was nothing she could do as it was her master’s order. Well, she could choose to disobey which she wouldn’t ever do unless she wanted to waste all her efforts to get him to trust her. The last time she did it was out of determination to survive. She was driven by her desperate will to live that she was able to jump from such heights. Layla may not admit it but she was more than happy to find out she was alive after her epic escape from her pursuers that day.
“Do you need a hand?” She heard him say. Layla shook her head. She might be able to survive before through sheer luck and knowing that luck could be all used up anytime, the young lady didn’t want to bet her life with it. “We’ve been here for a few minutes now and you haven’t jumped off yet. Did you change your mind?”
<*cough cough cough*Layla’s hard coughing could be heard throughout the kitchen. She was sitting on the chair while hugging her knees. She wasn’t trying to boast something earlier when she decided to jump off but the consequences were somehow intolerable. The young lady realized she might catch a cold again.“Truly, regret is always in the end,” she whispered, wrapping the blanket tightly around her. She was grateful when Zev took her out of the water right after she fell on the river. She didn’t stop sneezing until they got home and even started to cough.‘Ah. This isn’t the first time I coughed but the I’m feeling a little better right now,’ she thought. Why wouldn’t she feel like that when someone was there to take care of her? Actually, Zev didn’t mean to take care of her at all. He just happened to promise a treat so he was doing his best to cook something.Layla watched her master focusing on a book he was hol
Since they’re up to compete with each other, Zev suggested that they’d go on their own. Layla agreed with him and got to choose which way to go. She headed straight ahead from where they were standing and Zev took a turn on the side.‘I should find the target first. The earlier I start, the better,’ Layla told herself as she roamed her eyes around, hoping to catch a glimpse of her delicious meat. Her thoughts were filled with roasted meat as she subconsciously drooled while walking aimlessly. She had a satisfying lunch just a couple of hours ago yet she couldn’t help but crave food. She was enjoying herself as she imagined having dozens of serving when suddenly, Zev’s face appeared in her mind. ‘Ugh! Why would he pop up like that!’ She rolled her eyes in frustration when her festive imagination was ruined.“All right. I should focus now. I need to win this bet. Not only I’d get to eat more meat but I’d get a wish granted as well. Th
The breeze became colder. Zev was patiently waiting for Layla who had gone hunting for her dinner. It had been a few hours and the sun was about to set yet there was no sign of the young lady.‘Is it that hard for her to hunt something? I should have taught her how to hunt birds first,’ Zev thought as he leaned his back on the tree trunk. In front of him was a pile of unconscious boar he caught in a swift attack earlier. He stared at his loot blankly. A few decades ago, he would be contented to eat boar’s meat during his meal. Until he was cursed by the deity. He couldn’t get satisfied with the animal’s flesh. Although he could still eat them, they wouldn’t be enough to fill his hunger. And that’s when he started to prey on humans. Especially those hunters whom he would encounter back then. His life completely changed when he started to find pleasure in human flesh.“Master!” It was Layla. She was running out of breath as she ran towards him with a
“HAHAHAHAH! How can you be so stupid?” Zev’s laughter filled the dining hall. He couldn’t stop laughing after hearing Layla’s story.“Master, your food is getting cold. You shouldn’t forget to eat while listening to me talk,” Layla said. She was only hiding it but she wanted to smack the man’s face on his plate. “You can’t blame me. It was my first time hunting. I didn’t even know that my dagger wouldn’t be enough to silence a boar,” she refuted. She did her best to catch that boar and with just one single mistake, everything went to waste. Layla took a bite of the rabbit’s meat she roasted. It tasted nice and tender though she would honestly prefer the boars’ savory meat.‘That damn boar, I’ll find you and make sure to roast your whole,’ she promised. She couldn’t forget how her prey escaped her grasp. And when she thought her legs would be enough to immobilize it was on the advanced level of stupidity.“It’s fine.
Zev took a deep breath. He intended to get Layla drunk but he didn’t expect it to be so fast. She only had a couple of glasses of wine and she was already crying her heart out. For whatever reason, he would like to know but before that, he already prepared several questions to ask her.“Hey, little Layla. Do you want to drink more?” He asked her. The young lady was hugging the wine glass she was drinking from earlier.“Yes, please.” Zev could no longer count how many times Layla said the same phrase. “Give me more,” she added while handing out her glass.“Sure, sure,” he replied as he poured her glass. “You can have as much as you want. Isn’t that nice?”Layla nodded her head. He sighed. Zev had never expected him to do such a trick just to gather information. He watched the lady emptied her glass one after another. He waited for another hour before he started questioning her.“Layla, do you know so
*Thump*Layla woke up to the pain she felt on her back. Her vision was blurry and she couldn’t see almost everything in the dark room she was in. The last time she was awake, she remembered having a drink with Zev.“Ugh…” she groaned when sharp objects pierced through her skin. She felt her flesh ripping off. ‘What’s going on?’ Layla thought.“Bitch, I’ll kill you.” Layla heard a familiar’s voice talking to her. He was just a few inches away as she could feel his breath on her face. There was a strong scent of blood coming from him as well.“W-What do you want from me?” she asked. Her voice turned out hoarse. “Ack!” Layla attempted to cough out the thick substance in her throat she guessed was blood.“Die,” the familiar voice whispered, and an instant, Layla was stabbed in her stomach. “I really wanted to drink your blood but before that, I would like to see you bathe on it. Just like that damn beas
The Wesley's was always proud and never letting anything trivial hinder their plans. Zev Wesley was the only one left in his clan as he was trapped in the Verte peninsula by the guardian deity, he spent decades within the invisible bounds while his kinsmen were helplessly slaughtered by the blood clan. He had a vague idea about what happened outside the peninsula until one of the guard wolves who served the upper ranked Weres came to his mansion and begged for his protection as he told him what happened to the others. With Layla beside him, Zev thought he could ruin the enemy’s plan. He was determined to use the young lady against the vampire lord who seemed to have a delicate affection towards his prey. Zev was always careful with his plans. He was born with a manipulative mind, beastly strength, and demonic powers. And he thought he could swallow everything within his reach. However, little did he expect, Layla’s devastated state would move his frozen heart. For t
The warm breath fanning her face and the gentle heartbeat she felt vibrating on her chest made Layla opened her eyes. She could barely remember anything that happened thus she took her time pondering. Her eyes automatically folded once again upon listening to the tender beats coming from the person who was hugging her. She tried to get away, but the grip was only getting tighter.“Um…” Layla her head away as she opened her eyes and saw a perfect v-shaped jawline with a dancing throat which made her swallow her saliva. She didn’t know why but looking at those features subconsciously made her open her mouth to drool. She was about to take a bite to mess with the alluring shape of the jaw when she realized something. No one in the house would spend a night sleeping with her but him. “M-Master,” she whispered. She didn’t want to wake him up and cause herself trouble early in the morning.Layla waited for him to say something but when he didn’t she quiet
