Chapter Two: The Murder of Williams

Seven years ago

“Avvy berry! Can you get me the gardening trowel? I need to plant these seeds, the weather is perfect for it. Alpha Williams loved his garden, he spent hours beautifying his lovely flowers. Today, he was going to plant white roses. He had been gardening with Avyanna but she got distracted when her favorite TV show started.

“I'll be there in a minute, Dad! Animal predators have just begun”. Avyanna yelled from the sitting room. She went to the garage, grabbed the trowels and a pair of gloves, and rushed back to her dad.

“Where's Angus? He promised he'd help with the flowers today. It's exhausting”.

“He locked his room and put the DO NOT DISTURB sign, I think he's playing video games”. Avyanna replied as quickly as she could while standing on her toes peeping at the Tv from the windows.

“You know what? Since you've been helping me all weekend while your mother and brother did nothing about it, you could go watch your TV show. When I need something, I'll call out to you”.

Alpha Williams said with a beaming smile at his daughter.

“oh! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!” Avyanna half yelled with a chortle hugging her dad and giving him a peck on his cheek.

“Love you, Dad”.

“Love you, my little Alpha. Alpha Williams said, smiling to himself. His ten years old had a sweet spot in his heart. She was the one good thing in his horrible life. He got back to tending to his precious little garden.

It had been an hour and her dad didn't call out for her, that was weird for Avyanna. He always needed something. She looked out the giant window and saw her dad backing the garden awkwardly like he was staring into nothingness. She called him, but he didn't respond.

“Dad! Dad! I know you can hear me.

Avyanna got up and ran over to him, hugging him from behind tightly.

“Dad, you're scaring me. Stop!”.

Avyanna couldn't understand why he wasn't responding. Until he fell on Avyanna to the ground, bloodied and with a silver blade stuck to his heart.

Avyanna screamed in horror as her father's body lay on her. It was like living in a nightmare. She pushed her father off amidst screams of terror,

begging the moon goddess that she was in a bad dream, that it couldn't be real. Avyanna ran upstairs banging on her brother's door but he yelled that she went away. She scurried off to her uncle's apartment still crying and screaming. It seemed the whole packhouse was deserted, how could there be no guards in the packhouse?. This was outrageous and unbelievable.

Later that day, police officers, the pack detectives, guards, well-wishers, and many more gathered in the house.

The detectives couldn't find anything, not even a clue, apart from the silver blade and Alpha William's giant rake that was used to wedge him. He was reported to have hung there for more than forty-five minutes. There were no fingerprints, no sign of struggling. If it wasn't obvious he was murdered, it could have passed for a suicide.

Avyanna couldn't stand the sight of her brother or mother. She had so many “what-ifs and if-only” running through her mind. If only her brother was with her father he may have seen the killer, and at least alert the pack. If only she was working with him and not watching that stupid show. Why??

Her heart was hurting and she couldn't get their last conversation off her mind. How was she to know that would be their last conversation? Her last hug. Her last kiss on the cheek. Her last time hearing him call her "My little Alpha". Damn! She didn't want to be an Alpha if it would hurt you and the ones you loved like this. The ache was almost too much to bear.

Days progressed for weeks and months and Avyanna wasn't recovering from the shock of her father's death.

Alcinder and Elektra took it upon themselves to care for Avyanna in all the ways they could. The trio became inseparable.

Every day Elektra would stop by Avyanna's and they would go to school together. She could feel how broken she was and was willing to offer a healing hand to her. Alcinder would take them to his mother's cottage every evening to enjoy the beautiful forest and play games just so that Avyanna would never have to feel alone. On the other hand, Angus hated Avyanna and never tried to hide that fact. He blamed her for their father's death and wouldn't stop with his abusive speeches.

On a beautiful evening, Alcinder and Elektra were waiting for Avyanna to meet them at the cottage.  She seemed to have taken forever. Avyanna showed up that day with a purple eye, bruises on her cheeks, and a broken wrist. She got into a heated fight with Angus, and an extra whooping from her mother.

She was just too miserable.

Immediately after she got into the cottage, Elektra got up from the nest-like bed and hugged her. As she clasped her in an embrace, Elektra began to glow and sparkles emitted everywhere.

After the embrace, Avyanna was completely healed. Her genuine love for Avyanna had activated her healing gift. At eleven, Elektra was the youngest healer in their bloodline. She couldn't wait to communicate with her family and especially her grandmother who was deafblind. All she needed to do was hug her

It was a very auspicious sign that things were going to get better.

Elektra wanted to show Alcinder her new gift, she instantly saw a silhouette of a vision as looked at Alcinder. Alcinder was already fourteen and hadn't transformed into a wolf. His wolf genes were super strong as his parents were from the bloodline of the primordial wolves. He couldn't understand why he couldn't transform or synchronize with his wolf.

Elektra's eyes glowed bright red, and red lightning emitted from her hands. The room suddenly became windy and Elektra levitated stretching and extending her hands towards the sky, she spoke to him in the most terrifying tone, echoing as she enunciated “Alcinder Stone Fenrir, Son of Fenrir, of the Pureblood of Alparos, The one true Alpha, destined to lead the battle for the redemption of the glory of the moon goddess. Worry no more, for victory lies in thee hands. With the gift bestowed on you, and the strength of your mate. You will conquer”.

With the last words, Elektra fell to bed like an angelic babe in the now serene room.
