Silas's POV

"Bring me the damn bottle of scotch right now!" I yelled loudly across the empty warehouse office.

"Boss, are you completely sure about that?" Ivan asked nervously from the open doorway. "You have not had a single drink in over three years."

"I do not care about the years anymore, Ivan," I snapped fiercely. "Just bring me the heavy liquor."

"I really think you need to calm down first," Ivan argued cautiously, stepping fully into the small room.

"Do not tell me to calm down at all!"

Veronica's POV"Sir, please do not move so fast, you are still very weak," Ivan said in a panicked voice.I was sitting in Julian's sports car down the street, completely helpless, but miles away in his private mansion, Silas groaned loudly as he opened his eyes inside his own bedroom. His head pounded like a heavy hammer against his skull. He rubbed his temples roughly with both hands, trying to clear the thick, heavy fog in his mind."Shut up, Ivan," Silas growled out, his voice rough, raspy, and deep.He looked around the spacious room slowly and recognized his broad bed and plain white walls. He remembered everything that happened at the hotel room earlier, the strange taste of his drink, the sudden dizziness, and the heavy darkness that had pulled him under completely. Before Ivan could hand him a glass of water from the nightstand, Silas's phone buzzed loudly against the wood.Silas picked it up with a heavy sigh. A brand new video message from Ashley popped up on his screen. He

Veronica's POV"Answer me right now, Veronica!" Julian's voice demanded over the loud speaker. "Why are you refusing to switch to video?"I did not know what to do at all, so I disconnected the call immediately. My fingers shook wildly as I pressed the red icon.My phone rang again instantly. Julian's name flashed across the glass screen. I pressed the power button and shoved the phone deep inside my shorts pocket.I turned around and ran back into room four twelve. My chest burned with heavy panic. I pulled at my hair with both hands as I paced across the carpeted floor."What am I supposed to do right now?" I asked out loud to the quiet room.Silas was laying completely limp on the bed where Ivan had just tossed him. He was not going to gain consciousness at any moment. His eyes were tightly shut and his face was pale.Julian's call came through again. The phone vibrated violently against my leg. He was not going to stop calling me until he saw my face.I took a deep breath. I reali

Veronica's POV"I know you are lying straight to my face right now." Ivan yelled loudly inside my living room."I am not lying to you at all." I screamed back at him with equal anger. "I just told you the absolute truth about everything. I do not know anything about his current whereabouts. I have been sitting inside this exact apartment all day long. I did not step outside once since last night.""Do you really think I am incredibly stupid?" Ivan asked, stepping much closer to my couch. "You were the absolute last person to speak with him yesterday evening. You had direct contact with him before he completely vanished into thin air.""Having a single phone conversation does not make me responsible for his sudden disappearance." I argued firmly. "Silas has his own private life. He makes his own personal decisions every single day. I do not control his daily movements.""He does not go missing like this." Ivan stated coldly, his eyes narrowing at my face. "He always answers my phone ca

Veronica’s POV"Why are you making such huge decisions without even asking me first?" I asked loudly.I grabbed my silk night robe quickly from the edge of the large bed. I slipped my arms into the smooth sleeves and tied the thick belt tightly around my waist. I took three large steps backward. I needed to put plenty of physical distance between me and Julian right this second."I am just trying to surprise you with something nice," Julian replied smoothly. He stayed sitting on the edge of the mattress. He looked completely relaxed under the dim blue lights of the bedroom."You do not spring a sudden trip on a busy person," I argued, crossing my arms over my chest. "You know perfectly well that I have a business to run.""Your business will survive without you for a few days," Julian said dismissively."I am manning the entire operation right now," I told him, keeping my voice very firm. "I have daily responsibilities. I have employees who need my direct approval for every single tra

I screamed at my loyal guard. "Everything is completely falling apart right in front of my eyes. Julian is moving his travel timelines up quickly. Veronica is constantly fighting my authority every single day. I am going to lose total control of this entire private operation if I do not figure out a brand new plan today.""Drinking alcohol will not fix the broken plan, boss," Ivan stated firmly."Get out of my office immediately," I ordered him coldly. "Leave me entirely alone."Ivan sighed heav

Veronica’s POV"Do not make a single sound right now," Ivan whispered very sharply. He grabbed my left hand incredibly tightly. I held onto Ivan's black shirt with all the strength I had left in my body. My heart pounded wildly against my ribs. Julian was standing just twenty feet away from us in the grand lobby."Move your feet right now," Ivan ordered quietly."I cannot move at all," I whispered back in pure panic."You have to move right this second," Ivan insisted."He will see us," I argued."He is on a phone call," Ivan pointed out. "He is entirely distracted.""What if he turns around?" I asked, feeling completely terrified."He will not turn around," Ivan promised firmly. He calmly pulled me away from the golden elevator doors. We slipped quickly into a dark, empty side foyer before Julian could even turn his head."You need to breathe, Veronica," Ivan said.He pushed me gently against the smooth marble wall of the small room."I cannot breathe," I gasped out loudly."Yes you
