A free chapter to thank you for hanging on ...
As they drove off, she instinctively knew he was angry and with the way he calmly led her to the car, they were not up for argument. But she ignored the frosty atmosphere, “why are you not asking me what I was doing there?” she asked him.
He glanced at her and continued driving, “seriously, are we doing the silent treatment now? Look, Max is my friend, practically the only one who talks to me at school and there was no way I couldn’t have answered him when he called.”
Zach’s hand tightened on the wheel, he really was not in the mood to banter words with her. Clearly, she didn’t know who Max was in this world, he couldn’t stop imagining the tense atmosphere when he stepped into Max’s office.
“I really think Max is innocent, why don’t you investigate properly before suing him, I mean, his company isn’t as big as yours and could easily crumble under your attack, I have lived with my step sisters and I have watched them do things that I later get accused for, so I understand how he must be feeling now.”
Zach suddenly swerved the car to the side of the road and stopped, turning, he glared at Aramina, “you know how it feels? Pray tell me, because I don’t understand. How can you compare Max to you?”
Aramina looked at him nervously, she could tell that he was really angry, his eyeballs were already red and his pupils were black, but then behind them, he could see the hurt twirling in his eyes and an unspoken accusation. “Mina,” Zach continued, “Max is not your regular werewolf. He is the leader of the shadows which means that he is more detailed and meticulous than you think, your friend? Ha!” He scoffed, “Max is never friends with anyone he can’t use to attain a goal.
He suddenly sighed, “can we quit talking about Max, this situation is exactly what he wants us to do.”
“I am not a child, Zach, stop treating me like one” Aramina said.
Zach was frustrated, can’t she see that he was just trying to protect her from the cruelty of this world of his,
“then stop acting like one Mina, stop pushing me to the limits of shallowness. This world is not your usual black-and-white place, it has shades.”
Aramina was positively hurt, she couldn’t process the rest of what he was saying,
“What did you say?” she said swinging a hurt look at him, “I am acting like a child? Fine, I am, you who is so much of an adult, can you please act like one. Who goes after his own kind just because an employee sabotaged his master? Max has been nothing but nice to me and I won’t stand and watch you slander him or destroy his company.”
Zach looked at her, she couldn’t even do a thing even if she wanted to, but he was not ready to go there with her, his gaze was cold and far off,
“is that why you rushed off from the house the moment he called you to a club this late and as if it was not enough, you were in his private chambers” he threw the words at her even as he realized that it was quite unfair.
Aramina blinked at him, her demeanor changing, she couldn’t believe what he was implying, “ is that what all this is about, you...you...think I ... a...am too close to Max,” she stammered not really ready to articulate his assumption. “How dare you?” She finally screamed out, “you know what, you are crazy and I will be a fool to listen to this gibberish coming out of your mouth,” she said and opened the door to leave,“where the hell do you think you are going, it is already past two and everywhere is pitch black, damn it” he said as he closed back the door and successfully locked her in, she struggled with him even though she knew it was of no use as she bit down the tears that were threatening to seep down her eyes. She woud be a fool to cry in front of this handsome but foolish and clueless mate...how could he, after everything they shared, he threw such words at her, she was angry and frustrated. She tried again to unfasten the seatbelt which he held in place with just a hand,“L
Karen slowly walked up to the witch, she was still as beautiful as ever, but Karen knew better, her insides were nothing like her beautiful shell, she was deception in human form. It had taken her a while to find her, she was surprised that she hadn’t moved across the world to avoid Zach, but again, Sabrina was pompous and she often left a mark wherever she went. Everything about the bitch was bad news, but they had to admit that she was one of the best witches the pack had ever had. “What do you want, Karen” Karen smiled, the coldness in the witch’s voice did not hide the fear she felt. Halting, she smirked coldly, “come on Sabrina, that is not a way to greet an old friend.” She slowly walked in circles near the witch, she had never liked Sabrina, the witch was one manipulative bitch that often got Anita in trouble. Looking around the room, she could not help but smile in satisfaction. The room was definitely like a hermit’s place. A far cry from Sabrina’s choice of an ideal room.
“Wait up”… she screamed running to the school bus, but it left her, again… She didn’t even know why she still bothered to wait for the bus to appear. “Run freak”, her step sisters drove past her laughing loudly. She flipped her middle finger at them and sent the poor stones flying with a kick. Life sucks. Aramina was simply tired of living with her stepmother and the bullies she had as sisters. “High school is almost over”, she consoled herself for the hundredth time since she came into existence.Aramina hated life in general, everything sucked, but the worse part of the deal was herself, she was one unusual girl; she didn’t get tired as quickly as the other kids, she barely got sick and despite the injuries inflicted on her by her family and school bullies, she never had a scar the next day. It doesn’t exactly bother her that they thought she is a freak, it scares the losers away after several attempts to break her failed. The actual bone of contention was that she had a height
Her heart picked loudly as the man walked towards her, she couldn’t fathom this strange feeling between her and this Adonis of a man walking towards her, damn! He was handsome, Aramina had never seen someone whose pace was so precise, he walked towards her intently, with his gaze in her eyes, he got to her and he stared at her for a moment before uttering the weirdest greeting she had ever heard… “Hey mate”, and in a split second, hugged her. Aramina felt like she belonged here, well for a few seconds before she realized that a stranger was hugging her, she instinctively pulled back and slapped him. But he smiled and murmured, “a fiery one” confirming her earlier presumption that he was weird. He was a weirdo, she should have known, no man suggested a weekend getaway with a lady on a first date, not like she would know but she knew he was inappropriate. The lady behind him gasped, “How dare you” And raised her hand to hit her but the weirdo stopped her.“Don’t”. “Greg, take Mis
It took him two weeks to decide to meet her again, not because he didn’t want to, but amidst the couple of meetings he had, he couldn’t overcome the sense of guilt of not being able to protect his mate.He waited by the roadside, he knew from his sources that she always headed home this way.He had waited over two hours after school closure before he saw her walking toward him. She had shades on, with an ear pod, the sun kissed her hair making it shine. Even in her school uniform, he could tell that she was beautiful. ********Aramina had and seen him from afar, her heart had started beating fast again, but she maintained a calm demeanor. From school, she had heard the girls drooling over the guy that was on the road as they passed him, damn, he was fit to drool over, but what the hell did he want? “Hello, mina”, he greeted, totally unaware of the stir he was causing. She paused, no one had ever called her that, it sounded so soothing and sexy, and ….what the hell was she thinkin
Over the years, werewolves have lived with humans, and interacting with them, but their existence had always been a secret, any human who finds out about them is either killed or turned to a werewolf. Most of the times, death seems the better option since most humans do not survive the wolf bite. The secret of who they truly are is one that has always been paramount for centuries.Human fear what they do not understand.*******Zach entered his company, his employees cowered as they greeted him. He knew that they were scared of him but he didn’t mind. He paid them well and won’t tolerate any excuse or laxity. “Good morning Zach”, Karen greeted cheerfully, she had gone on a shopping spree with Aramina yesterday, Zach suspected they did more than shopping but he pretended to not be really interested. He had told Mina that he will try to stay out of her life until she turns eighteen. That didn’t mean he hadn’t assigned personal guards to tail her although she did not know. “Karen, I h
As Aramina got home, she could perceive her stepmother's perfume, she came back early…well, another month of hell before she decides on another country to go to.But she hadn’t expected to find her bags on the balcony. She knocked at the door, and since it was bolted from the inside, her stepmother stepped out along with her two daughters, she was a beautiful woman, and a good actress too; she often pretended that Aramina was the best thing she had ever happened to her but indoors, Aramina must do things according to her rules. The basement with its little window was her room, this was despite the fact that the house had over seven rooms.“…and the little princess arrives, my my, what are these fabulous clothes you are wearing, Zee here tells me you’ve been going around sleeping with men for money” Zee was the most devious of the two sisters, always quiet, but with the personality of the devil. She didn’t throw tantrums like Nina, she was the observer, who watch, plan and execute fro
Zach drove into his territory which had a weird but comforting ambiance. The road was covered with fallen dried leaves the both sides of the road were covered in wood. The gentle breeze from mother-nature was sending down more leaves and Aramina stretched out her hands unconsciously to get hold of one of the leaves.Zach looked at her relaxed face and a complicated look crossed his face. He pushed a button in the car and the roof of the car opened, she turned to Zach to know if he actually noticed her trying to reach out for the leaves but Zach kept a straight face and focused his attention on his driving. Weird guy, but thanks for the consideration she thought as she lifted her hands and grabbed some leaves. They drove for a mile before entering what seemed like an estate. Surprisingly, it was busy, Zach immediately covered the top of the car and drove slowly into the estate. People stopped and bowed as he drove by. He didn’t bother acknowledging them, but instead, wind up his car l
